This is my first experience after reading all these comments is crazy, this has been a nightmare. I have had nothing but problems. I paid the extra money to expedite his cremation, so that we could pick him before the Celebration of Life this Saturday. My husband passed on October 1st and they charged the $280 to have it done in 10 days it's October 15th. I just called they said pick him up Monday, and to make matters worse, they forgot to add the middle name of his parents. They called me last week and yesterday they asked me to verify the death certificate and sure enough there's no middle names. This is already a hard time and it just keeps getting worse. Please get it together, don't take my money and not do your part. Do better!!! Update- I picked my husband up the very next day, evergreen made it right, it was a hiccup. They were actually pretty amazing. My emotions were high and it seem way worse then it was, Dillion called me back refunded the $280 to make things right. A relative died at a local hospital ER and they did not have a morgue. So we needed to find a basic cremation service that could pick up the body immediately. Fortunately the kind ER staff provided us with a list of options. Going on the combination of cost and good reviews, we chose Evergreen. Everything went smoothly and the staff at Evergreen worked quickly to submit the documents needed to get a death certificate, which we were able to obtain 8 business days after death. They kept us well informed of progress. The actual cremation didn't happen for several weeks, which was not an issue for us, but might be for others. We were apprised of the estimated cremation date upfront, so everything was understood from the start. Completely satisfied. read more

No one wants to have utilized this kind of business services, but that being said I want to leave a review so that it can be easier for the next person. The hospice service that we chose handed us a booklet of hundreds of local funeral homes to choose from, I chose a handful to call for quotes and that was a bit overwhelming (hoping that I semi - blindly chose the right ones), but this was listed in their booklet and looked decent on Yelp. The answering service they use is not ideal, definitely the first thing that needs a swift professional clean-up, you never get directly to someone that can answer your questions, it's always a transfer. I understand why they have it, especially in these current extra busy times, but that person/people should have more data and most definitely have the most courteous phone demeanor and etiquette possible at all times. After deciding to go with this company and the final closing of the curtain for our family member our Hospice Team reached out for pick-up and that is when things got even more tumultuous. It does not help that all this occurred around the holidays or in the middle of a pandemic. So please keep that in mind when reading our review. I called the same day of pick-up and was told that we had to wait until after our family member had been received to discuss any further and start paperwork, so I kind of felt like we were being held hostage for the inevitable. I was supposed to get a call back and did not. I called back myself the next day and was told that paperwork could be sent electronically as we were trying to handle all these loose pieces so we could spend the holiday in peace and mourning. The paperwork never arrived, so another day later we found out it was because internet had gone out or something (but we never received a call to inform us, so we were swirling with our emotions and in the dark). There should most definitely be a back up even if you have to go to a coffee shop on your laptop or create a hotspot from your mobile phone or something, this is most definitely an essential business at all times! After 4+ days back-and-forth....Long story short, it all ended up working out and there was unfortunately a long line to get our family member cremated (which we also were not informed of prior to) so that also took longer than we were hoping for. Not a pleasant idea that our family members body was just chilling (pun intended) for weeks. However, funeral homes in general are just inundated with every day passings as well as COVID passings on top of that and I know for a fact that this particular funeral home (family-owned) was picking up the pieces for other families that had no where else to turn because funeral homes were turning people away as they were too full. That all being said I hope they smooth out the process (busy or not) and course correct on the customer service and communication pieces so they can continue to fulfill a significantly important service at peoples darkest hours. I would probably shop around and try for another more peaceful experience should the need arise again. read more

Everyone at Evergreen was helpful, and sympathetic to the loss of our loved one. Everything moved quickly, and was very straightforward. We had our loved one creamated, and also had a small viewing at Evergreen where loved ones were able to come, and share stories, laughs, and cries. We were able to fit about 30 guests, and we probably had space for more as well, if needed. When our loved ones ashes were ready for pick up, they did reach out to next of kin (make sure next of kin regularly answers calls) If not, leave an additional phone number. read more

Our father passed away in October 2022 in hospice care, but very suddenly; the appointed social worker for him had recommended Evergreen Memorial as an affordable and respectful funeral home. So, we went with Evergreen when he suddenly passed. The owner, Ed, met with us and was so kind and considerate to me and my family when we made arrangements after the fact. Our family was wearing masks when we spoke with him in person, and he quickly made sure to put one on too, which was so sweet of him. He was very upfront with pricing; it was all very reasonable. His team seems to be barebones but efficient. Everyone I spoke with on the phone, especially Gary, was kind and responsive. It did take a while (maybe a week or two?) for my father to get cremated, but it seemed like they were doing the best they could. I'm sure they had a lot of needs to meet. The urn we ordered took a while to get to them, but they were more than happy to transfer his ashes from the temp urn to the new one at no extra cost. Overall, I highly recommend Evergreen Memorial especially if you need to keep costs down. read more

I am not sure what happened to this place in the last year but it certainly went way way downhill. I was unsure if I should just cremate or would a funeral be possible with a showing. The owner Ed, assured me that all would be fine and my father would be presentable for an open casket funeral in 3 weeks. My fathers funeral was ruined after we flew everyone in for an open casket funeral. The funeral home never allowed me to preview the body before bringing it to the church. When the driver of the limo opened the casket, I cried, as did my uncle and cousin. My father was deeply colored purple and had withered down very badly. It was clear there was a mistake in the embalming process. The driver said he would send for a make up kit and fix up my father for viewing. No make up ever arrived and so many people flew in from out of the country and were not able to see my father in his condition. When I tried to explain to Ed how traumatic my families experience was and I felt a refund of the services were necessary. Ed refused and said "well you still owe a couple hundred bucks, ill take that off the bill". I would run far and fast from this place and would never recommend to anyone that I care about. I have never been more disgusted by a business before in my entire life. When my ex-husband, who lived in Sacremento was on his death bed, Gary from Evergreen calls my daughter for her credit card number for when "S" dies...I got on the phone and said, he is not even dead yet...really??? Keep in mind, the family does not live in Sacramento California, but in Ontario Canada. 2 days after he passed, my son and daughter were going to look after things in California. I advised to Gary, they would be flying in on Saturday morning (6 am) and leaving Monday morning at 6 am. I asked if they could come by to say good bye to their father one last time. Just be able to see his body. Gay said "As long as they are here before 3 pm on Friday or after 9 am on Monday...no problem". I reminded him they were coming from Canada for the weekend and this is their only time....and he said no...nothing they could do to help. So, my kids never had an opportunity to say Good bye. So, now Gary is looking for money...he won't start any process until after he gets payment. We give him the credit card...then NOTHING....and when I mean nothing, I honestly mean NOTHING!! No phone calls, no updates, nothing. 2 weeks after death, we get an email asking us to complete the death certificate...we were shocked...nothing like this ever happens in Canada. This is taken care of by the funeral home. So, once again, disrespect to the family, but we do it... Now all we need is to get the cremation done and get the death certificate...time to wait, yet again. After me calling and emailing several times, our family member was finally cremated....7 WEEKS after death!!! The only explanation Gary had was: "Well, we had a lot of deaths in California lately!" Really???? Not my issue. Like I said, absolute disgusting....both to the family and to the body. There was absolutely no compassion from this company at all. I truly hope no one leaves their last arrangements to these incompetent, rude company! read more

Pop passed away Sept 4th, 2022 and the team at Evergreen could not have been nicer or more professional. They are extremely patient, compassionate, and their pricing is lower than anyone else I've compared for the same services. They answered all of my questions, handled notifying social security, and ordered the death certificates for us. In my personal opinion I don't feel five stars is enough to say about Evergreen Memorial Service. I have used there service twice most recent 12/2019. The Staff are polite courteous and friendly. When a person is grieving the last thing is needed is a pushy uncaring salesmen. Evergreen is far from that type of service. I felt like my loved was going to be treated with dignity and respect. There's no waiting for long time. You were taken at the appointment time you requested. All services offered were explained in detail and questions were answered throughly. Never thought I'd write a review about a Memorial home but here goes. Death really, REALLY sucks. Most of the time. Unless it's Death Metal, Death Grips, or Death by Chocolate. Unfortunately, this death was none of those cool deaths. This one was thrust upon us without any warning, which is like the highest possible rank on the 'Death Sucks' meter. We chose Evergreen Memorial because of their handling of another family member's final resting some years ago. Their calm, gentle, and caring nature was exactly what we needed during this time of loss. I'd hate to say we were lucky to have these guys associated with our family, but honestly, they run such a tight ship here that I'd prefer they take care of any other family deaths. The truth is, these guys specialize in being respedctful, compassionate, and while they do run a business, and their ultimate goal is to be able to feed their family, we barely got the feeling that we were being upsold or talked into a more expensive plan. And perhaps their best quality? They were extremely patient. As patient as... the dead? Too soon? Is this thing on? Look, what did you you expect? It's a freakin' Yelp review of a Memorial home. I have no delicious frozen goodness to describe, no waitress to complain about, and no curly brown hair in my food. But the guys at Evergreen were so informative and timely, and they really did a great job of walking us through the entire process by keeping in touch with us, and allowing us time to compose ourselves and make decisions as a family rather than try and rush us through paperwork or take advantage of us. I hate, hate, hate having to write a review for a place like this. That being said, if my review can direct someone here to make their journey through this difficult time, I am glad to write it. We chose this business because it was the most economical choice for my family, and I am so thankful we did. Edward was so kind and so understanding. He answered all the questions we had and told us he was available at any time to answer any other questions or concerns we had later. I felt really good about this choice because it is a small, family business. Like the other reviewers said, at no time did I EVER feel like we were taken advantage of, ripped off, or upsold. I don't think I could have kept it together if someone pulled out a catalog or brochure and tried to sell us something at such a painful time. Edward gently guided us through the whole process when we were lost in a sea of grief. They have their own crematorium on-site and arrange for transport themselves. I rarely write reviews and this one is more difficult to write than the others, but the service that Evergreen provided after my dad passed away was so good that I feel they deserve the recognition. To accommodate as many family members as possible, we had the funeral services shortly after dad's passing. Evergreen was able to expedite services for my father so we were able to have his remains present during his funeral service and later when I lost some documents, they quickly emailed me copies. They were considerate and professional throughout the process. I like the people, the prices, and the ease of use. I think this sort of taboo subject matter is always better handled early on BEFORE you need it. After being in my business so long I have seen all sorts of people dying with no set plans for burial or cremation packets paid for in advance. I didn't want my own daughter to have to deal with those worries so managed the whole affair in advance through Evergreen. I liked their ease of service and the organized manner in which they handled it. I was referred to them through a friend who used them for several relatives. I wish they had this service in my Mom's home town but in Northern California you have to haul the body for 3-4 hours to Oregon or put it under ground. What a bad choice of options...especially when your parent prefers cremation. Such an easy way to 'move on'. read more
