I have had a very rough year. My mother passed five weeks ago and Thursday was the one year anniversary of my father passing. We used their service for cremating my mother. As I was cleaning out her house, I noticed on my dad's ashes that they also cremated my Dad. I didn't even choose them because of my Dad, I was given a recommendation by my cousin. The staff at Sierra View funeral home were the best team in working with our family to make sure our grandparents were laid to rest in the way they would like to. Our grandfather passed in the beginning of January and planned to have his body brought back to the Philippines. In the time up until we were going to bring our grandfather home, our dear grandmother and wife of our late grandfather passed. The funeral home was very diligent in making sure we would bring our grandmother back to be next with our grandfather. With the unfortunate circumstances and stress that my family had, Jill and Sam with their team worked so well to plan services for our grandparents and did most of the work to get all the documents necessary to have them both back and buried in the Philippines. I called around to at least 4 other places and either they took days to return my call or they had large up charges for things like just wanting to see the body for a few minutes. I wanted the deceased moved asap and couldn't get it done quickly until I called Sierra. Some places wanted to schedule a consult a few days out and that's just a consult. Sierra was so easy and caring with their interactions and communication. From the first phone call they took everything on so I didn't have to think about that part anymore. On the morning of Saturday August 11th, 2018, my mother Dorothy peacefully passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, CA. For myself and immediate family that had to go through her final weeks and days leading up to this day, it was arguably the most mentally and emotionally difficult time in my entire life. Since it was very challenging to process everything going on following her death, I searched upon several funeral homes and crematories in the area which have high Yelp reviews as well as being a reputable place that has gotten exceptional service and respect. This is where we finally settled on "Sierra View Funeral Chapel & Crematory". Located directly on Fair Oaks Blvd. and in between El Camino Ave. & Marconi Ave. in the heart of Carmichael, Sierra View has been serving families ever since 1954. Our funeral director, Jill was very attentive and respectful in guiding us through the entire process. Since it was our mothers choice that she wanted to be cremated, we decided that would be the right decision in her honor. My two brothers and I ended up making an appointment with Jill the following Monday while breaking down the cost of everything. Not once did we feel pressured to pay more money for our mothers cremation services. I do have to say that Sierra View was a very cost-effective place to have everything done with her cremation. For $740, they were able to do the following: - Transporting her body from the hospital to the funeral home - Cremation (that took place a few days after) - Death Certificate - Obituary Do keep in mind that this price does NOT include the urn. However, they do offer a wide variety of urns inside the funeral home as well as their catalog. Those prices range anywhere from $175 and go all the way up to $500. Overall, I would highly recommend "Sierra View Funeral Chapel & Crematory" to anyone that experiences the unfortunate loss of a loved one. I'd like to start by saying Sierra View was not my funeral home of choice. My father was receiving care at a skilled nursing facility and passed in the night. I'd given the facility and hospice team the name of the mortuary we'd chosen in advance, however due to a breakdown in communication Sierra View was contacted and picked up my father unaware of the prior arrangements. Once I determined where he was I decided to leave him in their care. I didn't want any additional burden placed on them because of an error made by someone else. The staff at Sierra View has been so kind and such a comfort during this time. They've reached out periodically since October with kind words, and even a Facebook group, which I wasn't expecting but it's comforting to connect with people going through the same thing. I was out of state for a period of time and was able to handle documents electronically which really took some of the stress and urgency out of the situation. The person that handled my case was on the younger side and I'll say that at times we may assume that compassion comes with age and life experiences, but she was just such an old soul and it meant so much to not have to worry. Something that started as a disaster, ended up being perfect. It shouldn't matter but the prices were very reasonable as well for direct cremation. This isn't an easy job to do and they did it well. The fact the somebody is still checking on my family really matters months later after everything is over and you're left to process the loss of your loved one. Thank you Sierra View! read more

Sierra View has two branches, the one located on Roseville provides the initial setup, taking care of the administrative work and Carmichael branch is the place where cremation took place. Notably, the two branches coordinated so well that it was seamless from transporting my husband from hospital to preparing for witness cremation. There was constant communication during that process that not a single time I had to ask, "what is the next step?" "Where is he now?" Amy and Elizabeth were very accommodating and helpful working with me...going back and forth to determine the date that witness cremation would takes place due to family and friends that are traveling in from out of States to walk the last journey with my husband and request that I want to make my husband looks presentable when he steps into his new journey. I chose the basis cremation which is the last will of Pete. Amy was informative about the additional charges that it may incurred when I decided to add additional service to the basic cremation. The Team at Sierra View prepared the witness cremation so well that every witness thought he was just in deep sleep. Elizabeth was extremely thoughtful when ensuring everyone had bid farewell to Pete prior cremating him, she ask if I want to ignite the cremation chamber.
