It reminded me of the old school train shops my dad, uncle, and grandad always took me too as a kid. There's a HUGE variety of model trains, scenery, paints, parts, you'd be hard pressed to not find something you need here. The owner greeted us warmly, mentioned a sale they had going on and said to ask him if we needed anything. Besides trains he also had a decent stock of model planes and cars, a few Star Trek models from the 80s but again, the bulk of his stock is trains. We were in the market for Gunpla models and sadly he didn't stock those but I will be telling my uncle about this place when he needs supplies for his trains. A great small business to stop in if you're looking for model trains and parts and want to support local businesses. Owner is very knowledgeable and friendly, willing to go that extra mile to help find what you need.

They have also begun selling entire sections of their inventory to be scanned to train AI then the books are destroyed. Yet they advertise that they rescue books. Digitizing books doesn't count for rescued when they aren't kept intact and accessible to the population but instead only fed into a single AI company. The service at the Hagerstown location does tend to be friendlier than the Frederick location.

Craig, the owner, told me he'd pay about $125 for them. I thanked him, and said I would try to sell them on FB marketplace or elsewhere first, but might come back. Craig said fine. However, I was unsuccessful on social media, and so about 10 days ago, I went back to the store, after checking with their staff that Craig would be there that day. However, he was not there when I arrived, and so I agreed with Cyril to leave all my albums with a detailed note, including my email and phone #. Cyril said he would talk to Craig, and he'd get back to me in a day or two. After three days and no contact from them, I started calling. I tried at least a dozen times over a week, and they never answered the phone and their mailbox was always full. NO WAY TO REACH THEM. Frustrated, I went back there this past Saturday at personal inconvenience, only to speak again with Cyril in Craig's absence. He told me that Craig had looked at my albums, and was now not interested. The albums were sitting in a corner in a back room with my note on top. I don't have a problem with him not being interested, though it's curious why he was interested at first. The big problem is that he was SO discourteous and neglectful, and didn't show the respect to send me a two-sentence email or make a one-minute call to tell me so. Those albums would have sat there forever until I came back for them, and that's just BAD customer service, and outright disrespectful. I was trying to help him by bolstering his inventory, and I did what his staff suggested (leave the albums), trusting they would show the common decency of reconnecting with me. But no, this level of respect was apparently beyond them. I would not recommend that anyone do business with someone who treats his good-faith suppliers in such a shabby way.
