I've been buying plants from Swallowtail since she opened up but more importantly, I am planning my gardens for my new house and have inquired as to types of plants they will have this year. Horrible service. The owner was rude and snooty. After…read morehooking her door open I asked "is it okay to come in?" She snapped back "I guess!" I say "I can wait if you need me to" "nope! Come in". So I do, awkwardly, feeling like I'm an inconvenience but wondering why she hooked her door open at all. After browsing for a few moments while she prepares out back, she returns. I shyly ask if it's okay to take any pictures as I was going to use her beautiful space that I love for a presentation at school, (horticulture). She frantically throws up her hand telling me no and acting really frantic. I understand hard days, and I understand stress, but for the love of your community, keep your door locked on days where you just can't be bothered. I threw out any desire to feature her store or purchase any of the great items I saw around me and got out of there as fast as possible.

Have been going here for years. They have a great selection of plants. Most recently I requested a…read morespecific plant and asked if they could get it. It is a bit unusual, and wanted a larger size one, so I wasn't sure if they would be able to get what I wanted. Just 2 weeks later they called and said it was in and ready for pick up. The plants are exactly what I wanted. A few things to note: 1. They don't take plant orders, but they do take requests. I think this is because there is no guarantee they can get it. 2. You have to pay over the phone if you want them to hold on to for you. I couldn't pick it up for about 5 days so I paid over the phone and they held on to it for me. 3. They are a bit pricey, in general, their prices are a bit higher than other nurseries, but the quality is also very high. I'll definitely keep going here for my specialty plant needs.

Fifty dollars for a small perennial is exorbitant especially close to the end of the growing season . Simply too expensive. Broadway gardens in South Portland is more reasonable with prices clearly displayed. Case in point: for the same selection and number of perennials total was $280 at Estabrooks versus $124 at Broadway. A huge difference in pricing.

I came in on a slow morning ( slow for me not for her) to get more house plants and new pots for our plants and expressed my girlfriend's critical selection of modern white in our condo. She was amazing at pairing me with amazing house plants that can thrive under my lack of watering supervision and educated me on where to put them in the home. Visited for the first time recently to pick up a gift card someone purchased for my husband. The…read morewoman was very friendly and although she wasn't sure where to look for the gift card she was nice about it and quickly found it for us. Plants are nicely spaced and divided amongst bushes, perennials and annuals. I look forward to returning and using the gift card.
