They had a gazillion pumpkins and all different types of gourds this time of year, but at the front of each of the greenhouses were a variety of plants from small succulents to giant birds of paradise. Outside there was a selection of pots, but like most places they were out of terra cotta pots. Lots of mums and fall arrangements, and their farm market had a really nice selection of wine, produce, and dairy products. Parking was painless and checking out was easy enough. Today was that day with them hosting a Mother's Day pop up with Eighty 8 Donuts and the newly opening Mini Bar coffee trailer. It's the perfect time of year to visit here with Maine finally getting warmer and nicer weather. Despite the somewhat rainy and gloomy start to the day the sun has come out and so have so many people. They have a large parking lot but it's been very full. If you are looking for any plant this is the place to visit! From the smallest options including Bonsai trees and succulents all the way up to trees and more. You could spend hours here walking down and looking at each and every plant they have for sale! We even had a great time just browsing and looking at all the beautiful plants. They had many members of staff who were putting more plants out but all willing to help with any customers who needed it. I thought prices were reasonable for what they were. Some were high but it was for large or non common things. Besides the plants they also have an indoor shop with bird feeders, feed, books, and more. Extremely well maintained and thought out business with phenomenal staff and an incredible variety of plants for sale. A true paradise for those with a green thumb!

There were half a dozen or so smaller snake plants available, several of them showing new growth already! They were $10; I feel like that's exactly what I was expecting/hoping to pay. When I was cashing out, the person in front of me was buying a bouquet of flowers. The employee at the register softly inquired if they were for any special occasion. Come to find out they were a surprise for his wife "just because"; the employee then wrapped them up in such a pretty, thoughtful way (and I don't think he was charged for it). I shyly ask if it's okay to take any pictures as I was going to use her beautiful space that I love for a presentation at school, (horticulture). She frantically throws up her hand telling me no and acting really frantic. I understand hard days, and I understand stress, but for the love of your community, keep your door locked on days where you just can't be bothered. When Mr. Marion delivered- he threw open the van doors and I felt my eyes tear up. Those were the most beautiful flower arrangements I have ever seen. If your heart is full to overflowing because of kindness and beauty, everything else just falls into place. That is what Fiddleheads florist shop did for us a long way from home. We are all still swooning over those arrangements. I kept one for myself to enjoy at our air b&b- and it was still so beautiful three days after the wedding that I knocked on a neighbors door and offered it to her. And those that remained still seemed stuck in 1980's funereal-style arrangements... lots of mums or stargazers and filler. But Yelp helped me narrow down a few possibilities. And I was super delighted to find Fiddlehead Florals! Fiddlehead Florals checked off all my boxes... gorgeous & modern design with beautiful, sustainably-sourced and seasonal/local flower selections; excellent and easy customer service over the phone where the designer (I think owner?) listened to what I hoped to have delivered and helped me arrive at my final decision; and they worked all of this within my targeted budget without trying to just upsell me at their sales target. I found their prices very reasonable for the service, delivery, and of course their selection of beautiful flowers. Since this is a 10th Anniversary, I wanted something dramatic, colorful, and seasonal. I called with almost 2 weeks lead time, and my requested delivery to outside the Portland area was no problem. The florist who took my call was cheerful, gracious, and incredibly helpful in my decision making. We decided upon a designers choice featuring a strong peony base as these were now apparently in season (plus I knew the couple loved them). My experience has ended up being complicated and frustrating but there have been some bright spots. First, I stopped in and walked the store looking for some options. I picked a bed I really liked and spoke with an associate (Wendy) and a manager (Jay) who walked me through the process of ordering the bed and choosing a mattress. Unfortunately the bed was a few weeks delayed so only the mattress could be delivered on the Monday I'd be moving into my new place. I came back in with my kids so they could check out the twin beds and sofas and we could figure out what will work for them. The staff clearly figured out what we were doing and gave us space (other times various associates have approached me to try to start selling me shit, which I do not like - I prefer to browse and find someone when I am ready). Another day I returned and talked to another manager (Tyler) as I already knew what I wanted to get. He thankfully skipped the sales pitches and organized my order quickly. However he also said something odd - that they do not deliver on Mondays. So I was confused about when my mattress was actually coming. Then I got a phone call from the store asking if I wanted to move up my deliveries so they could be Tuesday (the day after my move). I said great! However, then they also said that the queen size bed I'd ordered was MONTHS away as opposed to weeks. I asked about the bed I remembered being my second choice, they said that one's unavailable too (why they have floor models that aren't available baffles me). They helped me select a similar bed over the phone though. Delivery day comes, the workers come and are very efficient and studious and there are a few communication issues as they didn't speak English well, but the big thing is that they couldn't fit my sofa in the elevator. I called customer service which gave me no options that could help me resolve the issue, and then called the store, and then went to the store in person to choose a different couch. Went right to Tyler and he and another manager (Skylar? Skyler?) worked to replace the item on my order. Later in the day I had second thoughts about my choice and went back to the store and chose a different couch, again thanks to Tyler. Were I to do this again, I'd have declined the fuckin goof proof nonsense, and opted for an outlet mattress instead of the bob-o-pedic one. Unfortunately it really depends on what associate/manager you talk to - some will sell you a bill of goods and others will actually help you.

The metal underneath the reclining pieces broke, and the finish on the pieces, which the salesman said would last for ten years minimum, began wearing off within two years. When you pay thousands of dollars for furniture, you expect it to last for a while. I don't have the money to spend thousands of dollars every few years for my living room. Save your money and go to Lay-Z-Boy or somewhere similar. Their products last.
