Been using the bagged supplements as soil amendments and in compost teas to great success. The bar harbor blend; pink bag basic topsoil with perlite and bark with other goodies is great for seedlings-small plants you can get into some very nice long lasting mixes the more you look into their own bagged mixtures and combinations of compost to fit your specific needs. Try and find dry bags or retailers who don't leave them in the rain fungus gnats love this stuff and will hunker down.

An employee watering some plants asked me if I needed help, then walked me over to their Low Light Plant section. There were half a dozen or so smaller snake plants available, several of them showing new growth already! They were $10; I feel like that's exactly what I was expecting/hoping to pay. When I was cashing out, the person in front of me was buying a bouquet of flowers. The employee at the register softly inquired if they were for any special occasion. Come to find out they were a surprise for his wife "just because"; the employee then wrapped them up in such a pretty, thoughtful way (and I don't think he was charged for it). Lots of mums and fall arrangements, and their farm market had a really nice selection of wine, produce, and dairy products. Parking was painless and checking out was easy enough. After talking with Shelley, I felt like she got the vauge vision I was gunning for and relaxed a little. :) We flew up, 100 lbs of tablecloths and everything else in tow- and saw the place was so beautiful it seemed we couldn't mess it up:) I was excited to see the flowers as I was cool with color - just loose and elegant. When Mr. Marion delivered- he threw open the van doors and I felt my eyes tear up. Those were the most beautiful flower arrangements I have ever seen. If your heart is full to overflowing because of kindness and beauty, everything else just falls into place. That is what Fiddleheads florist shop did for us a long way from home. We are all still swooning over those arrangements. I kept one for myself to enjoy at our air b&b- and it was still so beautiful three days after the wedding that I knocked on a neighbors door and offered it to her. She was so excited and now we are friends:). Thank you for your beautiful beautiful work, and your kindness the whole way through. What a wonderful experience. And those that remained still seemed stuck in 1980's funereal-style arrangements... lots of mums or stargazers and filler. But Yelp helped me narrow down a few possibilities. And I was super delighted to find Fiddlehead Florals! Fiddlehead Florals checked off all my boxes... gorgeous & modern design with beautiful, sustainably-sourced and seasonal/local flower selections; excellent and easy customer service over the phone where the designer (I think owner?) listened to what I hoped to have delivered and helped me arrive at my final decision; and they worked all of this within my targeted budget without trying to just upsell me at their sales target. I found their prices very reasonable for the service, delivery, and of course their selection of beautiful flowers. Since this is a 10th Anniversary, I wanted something dramatic, colorful, and seasonal. I called with almost 2 weeks lead time, and my requested delivery to outside the Portland area was no problem. The florist who took my call was cheerful, gracious, and incredibly helpful in my decision making. We decided upon a designers choice featuring a strong peony base as these were now apparently in season (plus I knew the couple loved them). Extra Pride commendation to Fiddlehead Florals as being super accommodating for my requests for this arrangement for my gay besties celebrating a 10 year marriage milestone. Love wins!

I feel like every time I visit, I find something new. The employees I've encountered seem so calm and welcoming: I haven't felt any pressure to hurry up (and ooooh do I like to linger!), or move on, or even buy anything. I've overheard them being helpful and kind to people with questions. It seems the store is stocked with products from small, local artisans; what's not to love about that?! There are tarot readings available by the 15, 30, and 60 minute slot every Saturday; tarot and palmistry on Fridays and Sundays; and, other events happening each month too (be sure to look at their board by the cash register)!
