Had a terrible experience here and cost me in repair at another marina 12k. First the owner is a…read moreretired fireman and has no clue about boats so he relies on his mechanic Matt to do all the work.That should of been a red flag for me not to do business with an owner that doesn't do it for a living I have twin 2017 300hp Verados on my Boston Whaler and got charged $2,500 for a full tune up including both gear case oil changes,engine oil,impeller spark plug etc.. When I put my boat in the water one of the lower units blew. I took it to it to another marina and they told me that this happened because all my 4 drain plugs oil and gear case oil plugs where finger tight and never tightened with a socket wrench and my seals where ripped and never changed which is mandatory when you do a Mercury tuned up. (see attached photo) I had sea water in both my engines and both my lower units. When I called the owner Don of Guilford boat yard to inform him of what happened he got really nasty and rude with me and told me I was on my own and didn't want anything to do with it.

9/25/21 The Guilford Town Marina holds very special childhood memories for me, as my dad would…read moresometimes take the family here on one of those "Sunday drives", that so many of us knew in the '50's & early '60's, in our 1949 Dodge Falkner Island is a scant 4 miles from here, but visitors are highly discouraged from setting foot on it as it's a designated nature preserve. There is a long abandoned small red "cottage" just across the West River from the marina that is a favorite subject of artists and photographers. I came today to bask in the warm early Autumn sun & air and to relive some of those great childhood memories. it's even quite beautiful and popular in the winter months as well. Come down here, if you haven't already. You'll be addicted to this spot as I am, and return again and again.

Personally I recommend getting lunch at the Guilford Lobster Pound, located here (of course you have to get a warm CT-style lobster roll!) Another pro move is to stop at Ashley's to bring a hot fudge sundae down to the Guilford Town Marina for a sweet treat whilst watching the sunset. I did, but I should not have. boat motor they sold us was inoperable weeks after the purchase. Spent time in the shop summer '24, all spring of '25. they insisted they were doing us a favor and put a 14 year old motor on our boat for another $2500. That motor worked temporarily but now that i brought it to a real mechanic after issues, he informed me the computer in the motor is shot and thats why the issues exist. So they sold me a second garbage motor and told us they were doing us a favor. Over 2 grand in repairs a year after they did the work.
