Victor, his brother and his dad took the terrible bathroom (remodeled poorly by prior owners) in our turn of the century craftsman/victorian mutt down to the studs, and turned it into something beautiful. (I'm not showing pictures, because it wouldn't be fair for you to blame Victor for our odd tastes.) I don't know whether he does it this way for all his jobs, but Victor quoted the job (very reasonably) for everything but the price of the finish items: the deal is that we shop and pay for the tile, sink, faucets and fixtures, lights, wallpaper, shower glass, and other cosmetics, and his quote includes all rough building materials such as pipes, drywall, lumber, electrical supplies etc., and demo, patching, painting, framing, joists, subfloor, plumbing, plaster/drywall, and electrics, plus prepping and installing whatever finishing items we've bought. This worked well for us, it meant we could choose things on our schedule and shop the sales for tile, faucets, and whatever else, and the contractor wasn't making margin on that stuff. We wanted some VERY fancy and intricate tile work done, the kind you don't see any more, and Victor and his team stepped up and did it. Victor and co. started when they said they were going to start, finished when they said they were going to finish, and never left a mess, never smoked in our house, and treated everything respectfully. We had a few really bad ideas along the way, and Victor tactfully pointed out the implications of our choices, so we could change our minds without feeling stupid. We're looking forward to letting Victor loose on our other awful bathroom ASAP. read more

Wow! Victor is the best. My boyfriend is an artist, and he's always dreamed of having an art studio of his own. We called Victor up to get a quote for our garage conversion project. He was booked out for a long time but happened to have a few weeks to squeeze in our project. The garage was a mess to start with, in its original form from the 1930s. No insulation, some rotting wood, and minimal light. Victor listened to all of our requests and made the space more beautiful than we could have ever imagined, with gorgeous skylights, drywall, pendant lamps, and a new window. My roof was in terrible condition after decades of neglect before I moved in, everything that could be damaged, was. I had water damage and rot, electrical wiring was exposed, and there had been rats above the cieling causing damage for who knows how long. I called around and found that Victor and East Sac General Contracting were friendly, gave me a great quote, and could get it done quickly. Victor also has a really good eye for colors and home design and can offer excellent advice- we couldn't decide what color to paint our garage and went with Victor's suggestion. I found Victor from Yelp and gave him a call. He answered and listened to my oddball request. I needed to have two walls built but they had to be modular and about 6 feet tall, 15 feet wide, with 5 feet anchors. Basically a huge looking bracket: "[ ]". Victor was the only contractor that actually gave me a quote. All the other contractors I spoke to (3 others) never even called/emailed me back. I never worked with a contractor before but the price seemed reasonable, especially with my time frame. I only gave him about 2-3 weeks notice. There were some bumps along the way but he and his crew were able to come up with crafty solutions that made the walls even more fabulous. The end result is amazing. I am beyond happy with my walls! It's only been 3 days but I have received so many compliments on them!!! The thing I loved most about working with Victor was that I could text or email him. I hate talking on the phone, I can't always call or answer if I am with customers or at school, and same for him. He replied to my text messages and emails promptly and professionally. It looks like if he feels the project is worth his while that he does a good job. Unfortunately, I think he didn't feel my project was worth his time. I needed a new countertop. He did come by on a Sunday, but I did have to call him to remind him, so he was a bit late. He looked at the counter (no measurements taken) and said he'd give me a quote via email. Instead, he texted me how much his labor was without a quote for the countertop. I asked him for an itemized quote, and I never heard back from him. Guess I won't be calling him again. Oh, and he originally told me he could do the project in three weeks when he finished up another job, then when he texted me he said he could do it in about 7 weeks. Go figure.
