Today our family went to east sides to enjoy a mediocre meal. When we sat down in the restaurant the table was sticky like glue. What we got was almost that mediocre. 4 of us received 1 small loaf of bread and two Cesar salad with next to no dressing. I ordered the mangia sampler which this will be my 4th time having it but to my surprise it was half the meal I use to receive. The lasagna had 1 tiny hunk of meat in it, the chicken Parm was not even half a chicken breast and the Alfredo pasta was dry and undercooked. You as a company should be ashamed of taking people's money and providing them with less and less these days. We will not go back to your shotty establishment and have your over priced food. We ordered here for take out through their online ordering system. I love the ordering system because it's easy to use. They also have a great selection of combo meals for families. We ordered the pasta meal for 2 which came with a choice of 2 pastas, bread, soup or salad and 2 soft drinks. Food was delicious and large portions, enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. The only downside is if you ate in the restaurant then you could take advantage of the all you can eat soup, salad and bread. They only gave 1 of each through take out. I met a longtime friend at this Milton ESM which was half-way from home for both of us. Bring on the all-you-can-eat garlic loaf, soup and salad please! Our server Anita was terrific keeping us topped up with Blackberry Mint Iced Tea's as well while Erich and I talked 3+ hours over a good meal. Main course? I selected a Veal Limone - two golden brown veal cutlets, topped with a vibrant lemon-inspired sauce and infused with garlic for additional flavour, vegetables and Mario's potatoes. My kids love this place for their simple pasta... food is decent. What can go wrong with all you can eat salad and bread. Unfortunately, with many many occurrences, the service is just really bad at this location. They seems to have enough staff but only 2 or 3 taking orders. During our last visit there on a Wednesday - all you can eat pasta day, we got seated pretty fast but no waiters coming to take our drink orders. After 20 mins, she finally came and took our drink orders and disappeared again for another 20 mins. No bread, no utensils and still waiting for her to come back to take our order. It was like a waiting game.. we had to hunt for her to get our first order of bread, salad/soup and don't mention refill of pasta... she took so long we gave up after 1 refill. Also, when we finally got our salad/soup, not even 5 mins, our pasta got here. How are we suppose to enjoy hot soup and our hot pasta? Well, long story short, our dinner lasted almost 3 hours. 4 people in our party, arrived at 5:30 and restaurant was not busy, ordered drinks - got them and we received one loaf of bread. drinks took over 20 min to get so we ordered right away (we were going to a show that started at 7;30). at 6;25 still no food so we complained and after 10 min two people shared a pathetic salad while still waiting for pasta, no food for the other two people. At 6:40 a finally complaint by us and still no food - manager was useless, no apology, no excuse - NOTHING! 7pm - paid for drinks as food finally arrived - sent it back! we were one of the first guests in the restaurant before it got busy, everyone who arrived after us got food - we did not! most horrible service and dining experience ever! A sold 3.5 stars leaning towards a 4 ;) So I decided to come here on a Sunday evening, I was a bit skeptical about trying a franchise Italian restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. This place is nicely done with tons of chandeliers and artwork in every nook.Lots of seating and since it was kids eat free Sunday I saw lots of families with kids dining. So they start you off with their fresh baked unlimited bread and butter.I decided to go with the veal parmigiana which comes with unlimited salad and soup.Their portioning is totally shareable. Coming down to food-it's was pretty basic franchise Italian food nothing fancy nothing extraordinary about it.It tasted average nothing really to write and flaunt about.Everything that came on the table was piping hot and fresh.If was going to come back again it would definitely be a Sunday again where with one adult entree a kids meal is free. What really blew me away was their fabulous customer service right from the greeter to our wonderful server Russia.She was absolutely a delight, kept bringing warm bread and salad and all throughout our dinner she kept checking on us every now and then!!5 stars for Russia's service. read more

My husband and I have been to this location a few times over the years. We came here a few days ago since we had Ultimate Dining gift cards to use and this was listed as one of the restaurants. It was surprisingly busy with many families who were dining in and we had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. We noticed that the menu had some new offerings since the last time we were at an East Side Mario's. To start, we enjoyed their all you can eat freshly baked garlic bread, Italian wedding soup and ceasar salad. We ended up getting another refill of each as we were really hungry. For some reason, I thought I remembered each of these items tasting better before. On this particular visit, the soup tasted a bit more salty than I remembered and the salad lacked a bit more caesar dressing for my personal taste. It did have a generous amount of real bacon though so that was a bonus. For mains, we ordered the mac and cheese, as well as the penne arrabbiata. The mac and cheese had a good amount of alfredo sauce on it, mozzarella cheese, and bacon sprinkled throughout. Flavour wise, it was just okay though - I expected it to taste more creamy and rich. The penne arrabbiata was a generous portion, there were several pieces of spicy sausage, and had a nice kick to it in terms of flavour. This one definitely tasted better between the two dishes. Pricing wise, it's still on par with other restaurants as the entrees were both around $18 or so. We had a CAA card so that made the meal a bit cheaper because of the 10% discount. In terms of service, it was hard to track a server down whenever we asked for a refill of something. Staff were nice enough though when we were able to speak to someone. It just took a while for food to come out each time, so that would be an area for improvement here. Would I return? To be honest, maybe eventually in the future but there are other restaurants that serve better food for the same price and that's ultimately what would keep me coming back to a place. read more

Hit and Miss We've been here a few times, with various degrees of success and service. We were here on the Sunday following St Patrick's day. We were greeted by a hostess who by the look on her face wasn't interested in working there. That should have been the first sign. Our group of four was seated promptly. It took a bit of time for us to place our order - maybe 20 min after we were seated. However after that it took almost an hour for us to receive our order. By the standard of other ESM's that we've been to it was really really slow. My son is autistic and wasn't overly happy waiting. Then we were told that another server took his pizza and gave it to another table. The waitress came and gave us the bill at the end of the meal, apologizing for the slow service and telling us that it was her second week on the job. I was ready for give her a $0 tip. Instead, I decided to give her a tip and let her know that normally we should be comped for part of the meal. She got the manager over who asked that what the problem was, I explained slow service, giving a meal to the wrong table, and that I should be comped. We got 20% off of the meal. I would have been happier if my son's pizza was written off totally. At least the waitress got some tip out of it. This should have been a one star review, but the food was good - when it did show up. read more

I always liked east side Mario's but when myself and my 2 year old ate here a few days ago, we immediately got really sick! Upset stomachs and so much pain. I received a dish i was unable to eat and i only took 3 bites and returned it and was charged for it. Then pointed out i didn't even eat it and they took $10 off. So I received a gift card and thought I would order dinner to pick up curb side. Placed the order online for pick up at 6pm. Online experience was great. Received a confirmation email giving me curb side pick up instructions including a link to open when I arrive and requesting I park in curb side pick up parking spot. I arrived at 605pm. Didn't see any curb side pick up spots so I parked at the curb by the take out door. I followed the instructions on the email. Provided my make and model of my car. I received a text telling me they will be out soon. 20mins later I had enough of waiting and went inside. My food was sitting in the warmer. It was ready. No one bothered to bring it out. Got home. The email I ordered is my regular. It was a rose sauce but it just tasted like watered down red sauce. I pulled the foil bag with the home loaf out and noticed it was missing a piece. See picture. That's weird. Someone hungry maybe? Anyways was pretty disappointed. Not sure what's going on on there. Take out was pretty busy and there were two girls trying so hard to get organized. I had no idea that East Side Mario's would have a vegan-friendly selection. And not only do they have a small selection (for both lunch or dinner), but it's pretty good at that. The vegetarian pizza (without cheese) is fabulous and the bruschetta appetizer is one of my absolute favorites. I've also had one of their sandwiches too and it was delicious as well! The service is a little lackluster depending on which location you visit and also sometimes the meals are prepared slightly differently. The first time I had the veggie pizza and bruschetta it was amazing (and in Milton), but then at a different location they added so much spice I couldn't finish it. So three stars is where East Side Mario's lands for me. When my party wants to go out to East Side Mario's, that's A-OK with me. read more

There's actually a franchise right by my house and I've never even tried it. Tonight I decided to try out the Milton location with my boyfriend. We arrived around 6 pm and were seated immediately. I ordered the seafood linguini and he got the chicken strips with a side poutine. Both of these meals came with the unlimited option of soup or salad. We decided on the Caesar salad. Our server was friendly and attentive during our dinner. We enjoyed the Caesar salad and our main course. I really liked my pasta and how it came with a lot of mussels, scallops, and shrimp. I barely finished it so I'll be having a delicious lunch tomorrow! My boyfriend said the chicken strips were okay and it tasted like McDonald's nuggets. Next time he'll get something less basic. The only -1 was that the restaurant didn't seem too clean. When we were brought to our table I noticed that were a lot of crumbs. I ordered the chicken linguini tetrazzini and the kid's pogo with fries just last night. While the food was bland and so so we called it a night and that was that. This morning, I checked my bank account as I normally do, only to find that the thieving delivery driver tipped herself $8.50 from my visa debit. When I decided to order, I proceeded to do so online but decided to call instead as they only payment options were cash, gift card or credit card. I called, ordered, provided my visa debit # and the works and waited. Upon its arrival I checked the total and tipped $1.50 (tipping it at my own discretion and the amount is reflective of the satisfaction of the overall service). If you all can do some math: $33.32 + $1.50 = $34.82 And may I add that unlike its competitors in the area they never mentioned $1.00 fee for payment methods aside from cash. Visited the Milton east side Mario's for the 2nd time this week as I'm visiting from England , very disappointed with the food as wedges were cold service was slow and the guy doing the salads was playing with his beard, no gloves, then did salads with the same hands. I see the woman flick the salad with her fingers to make it look more presentable with out gloves. The drinks for the kids had been watered down when asked for no ice. Small plates were covered in greasy finger prints. Won't be visiting this one again.... read more

Having worked at the Milton East Side Mario's a few years ago, it's sad to see how poorly managed it has become. From the moment we walked through the door, the visit was in need of a saviour ( which unfortunately never came). After waiting at the front with no acknowledgment from the servers walking past, we sat ourselves. After we found our own seats at the bar, and we got a smile from the bartender, we waited again for menus or someone to come by and say hello and begin service. After a server stood next to our table and proceeded to say nothing and walk away, we got up and found our own menus. At this point, we waited again for the bartender to come up and begin service. Eventually when she did come to our table, things continued to go downhill. She was uninterested, slow and barely smiled once. I have never received such poor service from beginning to end. I will not be returning to this location as even the manager was uninterested in saving the experience and made the excuse that her servers "just want to go home". read more

I used to go here with my friends and boyfriend, and the service was pretty good! Food was quick, service is friendly, and we liked it. But as of recently, it's changed completely. We've gotten a miserable waitress where our food was super late, one of our orders simply forgotten and never arrived, the waitress is nowhere to be seen, and when flagging someone down they act like you're completely ruining their day. What can I say about this East Side Mario's other than it is exactly what you'd expect from this chain including prices a little higher than you'd expect. The food is mediocre and the all you can eat bread, soup and salad they offer before the meal takes some will power not to fill up on if you're really hungry. My husband LOVES the wedding soup. I've been here a number of times over the years, and also ordered take-out for a large group and they always come through with the same standard quality food and service. They have a small patio on the parking lot. Went there on Friday. Restaurant was almost full but we were seated right away. I would have prefered a bit of a wait as the place is so packed in that everytime a server walked past our table they bumped it and the spare chair. The wait staff was clearly over worked but the service was still good. The food was pretty good but not the best I've had at an ESM before. Other than the overcrowding, the atmosphere was different than any ESM I've been in as this is a wide open room. Even the booths are open on both sides which I've never seen anywhere. Yep! It's still delicious! Service is still good! We went this past weekend. It was ridiculously busy! Apparently there was a dance comp at the theatre next door and a basketball tournament in town. The reason for my 2 star rating has nothing to do with the food, Just the service, I waited over 15 minutes at the bar to be served at a time when the total customers in the restaurant was about 12!. The bartender meandered by me a few times, I allowed to her time address me instead of calling her attention, no doubt I would have received faster service if I had waved my arms wildly. Let me just point something out to everyone in the service industry. If a customer is sitter at your bar, politely attempting to make eye contact with you for fifteen minutes and you walk by them Many repeatedly, without any clear destination, not in any way busy, It becomes frustrating for them. After she took my order, which involved one appetizer, one entree and a soft drink, I waited for the better half of ten minutes for my soft drink... again I was sitting at the bar! after receiving my soft drink my food arrived not much later, a salad. I ate my salad and sipped my soda quietly, just as I finish my salad my entree arrives(my thanks to the chef, it was very good). The next time she addressed me was as I paid the bill, I left a good tip out of habit I am sorry to say. What prompted me to write the article above all else was the way her many made me feel unwelcome, Every time We spoke I paid my pleases and thank you's and smiled, she would respond in a monotone without a smile or making eye contact. I am trying to figure out what is wrong with this particular location. Each time we visit it, the customer service is terrible. I am not sure why we keep giving it another chance. Today we visited the restaurant and it was absolutely not busy......again though, as we have experienced in the past, we waited and waited and waited....for everything. One of our orders came out incorrect.....do the servers not ensure what they are bringing to the table is correct? More waiting. Waiting for the bread loafs....its like the server will be faulted by management for bringing the next bread loaf. If they cost you too much money for the restaurant, then don't offer them as "included" with your meal on your menu. Then on our bill, we see a charge for bread loaf. Hmmmm.....interesting since two of our meals included them. I actually took a photo of the manager and the only two servers standing together (for about 7 or 8 minutes) just chatting away as we were waiting to be served. You need to pull up your socks and SERVE the customers or you will lose them all. I read your Google reviews, and see that I am not the only one who feels this way. You can pass a message to our server Fabianna that when we indicated that service was lacking, her response of "there are only two servers today" resulted in the $2 tip that we left.....it indicates how satisfied we were with the service and her response to our concern. Poor service. Our meals for a party of 5 took over 30 minutes to be served. That is, between the first dish and the last dish, there was a 30 wait. Needless to say our goal of dining out as a family was ruined. All the staff appears to be in their early 20s. The host greeted us with what I would call street slang. Mind you.. I HATE East Side Mario's... I've been a few times to different locations, even in Toronto! But this one hit home for me, for some odd reason. I got the peach Bellini with fruits because this is my go to drink when I come here (I was here last week and forgot to leave a review so here it is)... I got the vegetarian pasta that got a reward for it, I forgot the name but it came with feta, mushrooms and a whole bunch of other stuff in it... our waiter came with Fresh Parmesan cheese and I told him to keep it coming! The Caesar salad was Fresh and came with a decent amount of Ceaser dressing (I didn't have to ask for extra Ceaser sauce this time) you know I'm a Saucy girl and love my extra sauce but I was good on that behalf :) my friend had the chicken fettuccini pasta and his was creamy and good (I tried a few bites of it), our waiter was cool and very nice and brought us the Hot Garlic Bread, straight out of the oven as we were eating our meals, he could of easily skipped that part but he didn't and I'm glad he did! Because from what I remember at eating at this franchise is they make good bread and drinks! Because of this experience, I may potentially eat here again but don't get your hopes up East Side... you've broke my heart a few times and I'm not going to let you in easy, at least not this time!? You don't have to be Italian to eat here, just hungry. The food is good and generally won't disappoint however on two occassions with the Braised Beef ribs, I have had a problem. On both occassions the ribs came to the table and when I tasted, appeared to be bland ribs done in a fry pan. The first time I had these, the chef must have marinated them in the wine sause prior to cooking and spoiled me ..... the bastard! Now, it is not the same and after two times failed, will not order the Braised ribs again. The rest of the foods have not been a problem and we especially enjoy the Diablo rings (thats what I call them anyway) appetizer ..... delicioso!! Reasonable parking, however wait times can get up to a half hour. read more
