I hired this company 2 months ago on a referral. They would set up appointments and cancel. Eight appointments and Eight cancellations. The last cancellation was 30 minutes before they were suppose to show up. I heard every excuse in the book, from equipment failure, employees not showing up, and it rained the night before, so they were concerned about my lawn. Well, i have no lawn, this job was to trim trees along my gravel driveway. In the last conversation with Summer she wanted to set up another appointment for the following week on Tuesday. The nice charming sales man, John, lied and then bullied me when I called back to say they did not finish the job. I asked for all the dead branches cut, off, and all the scragly ones, (very big tree) and they cut 4 or 5 branches and called it good. no no, I said ALL. then, they said "well, you signed it." and, my mistake - I TRUSTED THEM. How hard would it have been to just finish? Zip zip with the chain saw. 4 big men and lots of equiptment. and, I'm an old grandma. At $1400 an hour, I would have had my son cut the 4 branches off with my chainsaw! $1400 for 1 hour of work seems a bit high. oh, and the very mean girl in the office, Summer, offered to have them come back and finish for MORE MONEY! ha. However, need to find out when someone is going to clean all of the tree limbs and large limbs are going to be removed from my front yard which is destroying my yard in this hot weather. I want to share with you my interaction with East Tennessee tree service. I have a tree that needs to be removed in a timely fashion. I called several tree services to give me an estimate. The first two arrived and gave me an estimate that was somewhat high, but within the reasonable range. East Tennessee tree service was the 3rd of 4 tree removal companies scheduled to stop by. The office called and told me that "Jimmy" was unable to make the appointment and they wished to reschedule. I told them I needed them to come the next day because this is a tree that I wanted removed ASAP. Later that day the fourth tree service showed up and gave me a very reasonable estimate, so I called East Tennessee tree service and told them to go ahead and cancel the estimate appointment. In fact I called them twice and spoke to their answering service the second time and gave them my complete information again, requesting to cancel the appointment. The very next day at 8:00 o'clock my phone rings and Jimmy tells me he's waiting outside my house. He proceeds to give me an estimate which is quite a "lowball" compared to the others, so I decided to go with East Tennessee tree service. He told me to call the office and speak with "Summer" and tell her this is something that needs to be done in a timely fashion and she would schedule it. I called the office right after he left, and "Summer" said that she could get me on the books the following week. So in my mind, this is a done deal. The next week on the day of the scheduled service Summer called me and told me that because it had rained they needed to reschedule. Although this was inconvenient, I assumed that it's for safety reasons. I didn't have a problem with that. Keep in mind, this is the second time that this company has had to "cancel" and reschedule something with me. She told me that the earliest that she could possibly get me on the schedule would be a week and 1/2 away, on a Wednesday. Yesterday was Tuesday, the day before the scheduled service. Summer called me once again they needed to reschedule. When she called me I was actually driving back from Kentucky so that I could be home in Tennessee for the removal of the tree. So you can imagine this was somewhat irritating to me because I was making a special trip back. This is now the third time they've had to reschedule something with me. She told me she could do it this coming Friday. Quite frankly, I don't have time to keep trying to arrange get this tree taken down. I called one of the other companies that I had gotten an estimate from, and even though they are couple $100 more expensive I was absolutely guaranteed that they will be here this Friday at 8:00 o'clock in the morning to remove the tree. I told him that I wish I had gone with him in the first place because the tree would now be gone and done with. If you read the Yelp reviews (Which I should have done before deciding to go with them), it seems like it's the same story over and over. Jimmy comes in with a low ball estimate, and when you decide to go with East Tennessee tree service, your problems then seem to start. For me it was Cancellation, reschedule, cancellation, reschedule As I said at the beginning, this is just the history of my interaction with the company. I can't speak to their skills and effectiveness on removing trees. I think if I need to have something done in a timely fashion and need a company that will do it when they say they will do it, East Tennessee tree service will not be on my list. read more

I agree with all the low reviews and would not recommend. I hired for a job but the foreman changed the scope and asked for more money for the job. A large tree we wanted cut due to it not being healthy the "experts" talked me out of it because they said it was fine. Now the tree is progressing, losing bark and showing more signed of disease and is a danger. I have to contact another company to cut it down. Will never recommend nor use this company. Original job was over $10K now will have to fork over close to that for one tree due to rehiring the heavy equipment - unimpressed. read more

Asked if we could reschedule due to all the emergencies that occurred after a big storm so we did (ours wasn't an emergency). Did a good job communicating with us and gave us a better quote than the other estimates. Showed up when they said they would to remove one large tree. Debris removal didn't occur the same day but they had it neatly stacked and got it moved before it could kill the grass. Asked them to come back and cut the stump lower which they did. He did not show up until 1:50 p.m. no call, shitty attitude, did not introduce himself. I contacted this company in May of 2022... They've just finished the single tree take down and it's July 29, 2022... I asked them to use plates before driving over my newly installed drain pipes... here's what they left behind... on top of damaging my new pool... Update: Jimmy, their estimator, just rang me up at 8:30 p.m. complaining about this review in what could only be construed as an attempt at intimidation with the language he used... (by-the-way Jimmy, I don't have a contract with your company... all I have is a proposal which in your own words is non-binding) I don't expect this company is going to do anything about the damage they've caused. I don't know... I'm going to include some additional photos just incase there is any question as to who/ what caused the damage... I was on the schedule for June 27th, witch they never showed-up for, received a phone call stating that the crew was taking longer on another job and wouldn't be able to do my job. Never received a call back for a re-schedule... mid July I called to see if I could get on the schedule only to be told the person doing the scheduling was on vacation. Was finally able to on the schedule for the 26th of July 2022. They never showed up and didn't call to cancel or inform me they were not going to show. Was able to get back on the schedule for the 29th of July 2022. The crew was here at 8:00 a.m. only to inform me that they couldn't do the job without their bucket truck. Received a phone call letting me know the same and that a truck would be here in the afternoon... only to receive another call canceling the appointment because of rain... only for the crew to show-up and then the rest is history... You may notice that the communication improved after the missed appointment on the 26th... it's only because I stated I would charge them $75 a day for waiting without a phone call... and if they wanted to avoid those charges they needed to keep me in the loop... I've neglected to mention that I am disabled. Well done Jimmy for trying to intimidate a disabled person... Stay away from this company... read more

I have used East TN Tree Service twice for large tree projects in the last 2 years and again today for emergency tree removal after winds toppled a tree onto our home. From past experience, they get top grades for free quotation responsiveness with very reasonable pricing, strict adherence to schedule and for providing highly skilled professional crews who work quickly and safely. All crew members are very courteous. They have state of the art equipment to tackle any situation, no matter how tight or isolated the project. The site is always left in excellent condition when the job is complete. Regarding our emergency yesterday, the company owner showed a sense of urgency and was at our home within 40 minutes of the phone call. He had his crew scheduled for action before noon today. I was initially impressed with the company and how they appeared to have it all together. However, this opinion quickly changed. I believe it all stems from the fact that they are in the business of underbidding the job and bullying their customers. I am still not sure if this is intentional or not. Nonetheless, they missed the mark as to how long it would take to complete the job even though we discussed the job at length and questioned the fact more than once that the job could be COMPLETED in the TIME and for the MONEY they were including in the estimate. They were very sure of themselves and assured us it could be, so we agreed to proceed with the job. Unfortunately, they were wrong. Throughout our experience we were faced with problems, empty promises, unprofessionalism, and at times outright abusive behavior by both the Salesperson (Jimmy) and the Owner (Chad). The company made it very clear throughout our experience that they were not in business to honor their commitment to their customers or honor their word. Ultimately, we made the decision to pay them for the work that had been completed and for them not to complete any additional work just so we could be done with them. Our neighbor used this company and they needed access to our yard to cut down a massive tree. They damaged our swing set, filled our trash can, and left a massive mess. The entire tree and its limbs were dumped on our property. The neighbor's house butts up to the backside of our property and there isn't nearby access to their property because of our fence line, so the neighbor that hired them had no idea about the mess they had made. Misleading and dishonest job scope with lots of lies from onsite sales estimator: attempted to almost double the price after the contract was signed. Damaged property and did not finish the job, leaving large pieces of debris, of 1-200lbs in size, that was supposed to have been hauled away. Denied responsibility for damage, but photographic proof showed otherwise. They agreed to repair damage but offered no timetable. Over three months later, they showed up at my house one day with no prior contact and effected repairs and hauled away debris they left from before while I was not home and then demanded immediate payment via telephone. Since it took them three months to actually finish the job and I had assumed it had been abandoned months prior, I asked for an extended period of time to pay and was threatened with legal action.
