Better than our UW hospital experience by a long shot! I heard they changed ownership in past couple of years. Anyway, the Nurse Practitioner, nurses and CNAs have all been wonderful and caring. It's a little bit outdated inside but it's very clean and the care is wonderful, so who cares? In addition, they cook their food from scratch (recipes apparently come from corporate) and my Mom loves the food. They also did very well on their last state audit. Not one nursing tag... impressive! Great job Crossroads!!

First, 5 stars is not enough, at least 10 stars. I could not sing the praises louder or longer…read moreregarding the care and staff at Encompass Health. I had no idea what to expect when I when I was sent to Encompass Health for rehabilitation after my neurosurgery. How fortunate I was to be treated at Encompass Health facility in Libertyville, IL. Everyone is treated respectfully and they truly care about your well being and want you to get well. The therapists encourage you and work with whatever your limitations may be to enable you to get well enough to succeed and meet your goals. Therapy is conducted in the gym. Everyone is rooting for everyone else including patients. The entire staff whether it be medical, therapeutic, food service, cleaning staff, and office staff always greet you with a smile and encouragement. I want the CEO, Gemma Fletcher to know (and I am sure she does) that the entire staff are rock stars, and their concern for the patients is genuine and sincere. I did not realize how much of an emotional high the ringing of the bell gave me when I finished therapy and was getting ready to be discharged. As much as I would love to call out by name all those that helped me during my stay, I regret that I may inadvertently omit some names. Please know how much your concern was important and instrumental in my recovery. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. You can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs…read more I have to apologize for taking so long to write this review. I was a patient on 6/24/24 after having hip replacement surgery. The facility was run so efficiently that I NEVER had to wait for someone to respond to my call. The food was fresh and good. I never had to wait for medication, which was always on time, the correct pill, and dosage. Did I mention how beautiful the facility was? Not only beautiful but very clean. The staff was incredible, they always had a smile on their faces, which told me they were happy to work there. Physical therapy helped me to recover as quickly as I did. Everyone was very patient and took time to explain what I needed to do. The therapist stayed with me to make sure I was doing it correctly. After seeing the horrible facility in Streamwood, my sister-in-law is currently at, I realized just how lucky I was to have been at the best facility in the northern suburbs. Hands down, you can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs!!

Strange place. They all have the same tone of voice, I was soon annoyed by the patronizing "OK"…read more(which sounded more like "not ok). PT and OT are PUSHY. NO MATTER HOW PHYSICALLY ILL YOU ARE! I was shocked to attend a PT course on Safety how not to Fall, where an elderly gentleman who had clearly soiled himself (the smell was unbearable from 2 seats over) and he was left in his mess FOR THE ENTIRE PT COURSE!!! You wouldn't treat an animal this way! Terrible! Be careful sending elderly who can't speak up for themselves! For me, Never.Again. My severe Lupus was ignored and when I saw my Rheumatologist, he said they shouldn't have made me do certain PT/OT things. Zero stars, really

When the Assistant Administrator asked me how my experience was I couldn't say enough nice things and I told her that my PT and OT deserved raises! My PT did me the biggest favor by postponing my discharge date a few days so I could practice my skills more. I was disappointed at first, but afterward I'm glad I stayed. My case manager kept me up to date on everything I needed to know. The food was excellent. My room was spacious and comfortable. I couldn't ask for more if this were a 5 star hotel. And I sincerely mean that - no sarcasm intended.

I have to say that my time there was not great but it wasn't terrible the people that work there…read moreespecially for one CNA Mariah she really cared for all her patients she deserves a raise. when i first got there she really noticed that i was in major pain and tried to make me as confortable as possible. When she told me about options about the shower schedule she had to do a bed bath on me and treated me with dignity and made me feel confortable. From that day on i knew that while she was there i was in good hands with a caring person. There was a few more people there that always made me confortable and these people are the reeptionist i always called her georgeous and she called me hansome she made me feel at home i didn't get here name and i am sorry. there was two more people that really kicked my butt in therapy and they were Agnes and Ross they really worked me because they knew how bad i wanted to go home and they did not take it easy on me i appreciated that there were days when i got back to my room and just exhausted. This is the reason that this review is not five stars and it comes down to privacy. This is more for the second shift when the door is closed to the room it is only proper to knock and wait to be answered before coming in to the room. They had a habit of just walking in the room without knocking. There was a couple of times where i was in the bathroom and they just barged in and opened the door. Even though it is a kind of a hospital vibe when the door to the room is closed it should be considered being private and the courtesy is to knock not just walk in the door. if i ever have to go back for rehab i would go back to avondale

My grandma (and my 4 year old son's GREAT grandma!) lives here. She is 104 years old and lived on…read moreher own (after out-living 2 husbands whom she adored) until about 99. She was fiercely reluctant to leave her solitude and "stuff"...but I feel she is in a good place, with good people and surrounded by other seniors - some of whom she relates to, others maybe not so much (she is a tough cookie). Being a retired teacher and very involved in politics, environment, juvenile rehabilitation (amongst many other things that make me feel slightly unworthy...LOL as she is one to look up to!) it was hard for her to accept the reality of her life. I live in SF, CA. I grew up until age 7 in Michigan, spending summers in Ohio with my mom and grandma, sometimes my older brother too. My grandma taught me many things. I lived in the moment with her, picking berries as we floated down the river by her home on a canoe, to later make pie. We played piano, did ballet, wrote letters, cooked many meals, told endless stories. She taught me how to sew, how to make an entire outfit. I could go on and on about this amazing lady but this review is about Sunrise, right? Well, I have been here once. I plan to go back in the next few months. The 1st time I went, my son was 2 - now he is 4. The place is clean, well staffed and has upbeat lively old time music playing in the background (think "somewhere over the rainbow!"). I was worried about seeing my dear grandma in a "home." She took care of her parents, avoiding nursing homes for as long as possible. She took care of her ailing husbands in the same regard. So, to have to see her in a place that she worked to avoid putting those she loved....was hard. Sunrise helped alleviate this anguish with me. The people were warm, engaging and helpful. While I was there, I did not see too much interaction with my grandma. This worried me. It made me wonder how she was treated while I was not there. They would abruptly enter her room, do what they needed to do and then leave. I removed a star because I would have liked to see more warmth and engagement. I will be back soon and will observe any updates and report. But I can say, if you are considering an assisted living situation for someone you love - this is a place to consider. They do a good job here.
