Quick, efficient. The front desk lady seems almost offended you entered her territory and but wasn't rude but also was far from polite. I was quickly taken back and x-rayed, that person smiled& gave me a nice shell lei. The doctor came in and confirmed I needed a tooth pulled, again seeming angry I was there but also wasn't rude or polite. Everything with the pull from novacaine to removal was as smooth as if you were in an assembly line. Doctor did make a weird comment about hating pulling teeth on someone of my size as he walked out the door. I can't say enough amazing things about this office and its staff! Dr Engel did a phenomenal job on my quadruple wisdom teeth extraction despite my extreme phobia of dental work let alone a dental surgery. The consult was 3 weeks before the procedure and he was very clear about what I would be looking at for the procedure as well as my healing time, followed by a staff member to come in and discourse what costs i would incur based on my insurance coverage as well as options for how to perform the procedure and their associated prices. The day of the procedure I came in a crying mess due to my fear of dental work and the girls at the front were so kind to me in providing me with solace for what was coming. Actual procedure went smooth, and they offered for me to keep my extracted teeth which i hear is kind of rare so that was awesome! Post op instructions were clear and concise and they gave me all the tools I would need to care for my mouth! To further their professionalism they worked me into the schedule immediately 7 days post op because I was having concerns about the healing process, turns out there were no issues but I really appreciated them altering their schedule to see a patient who had technically already completed their care. I think this is a genuine practice with very vetted staff and I will be returning in the future if ever needed. IV sedation for 4 wisdom teeth extraction. Warm-hearted staff. Each staff member I encountered explained their purpose thoroughly and always asked if I had anything questions at the end. This includes going over an itemized list of what everything costs with and without insurance. Healthcare providers answered all questions in detail. Everyone worked quickly -- no delays. Educated my designated driver about post-op care and was provided with gauze, printed instructions, prescription information, and SPF-friendly chapstick (smells nice). Got knocked out. Woke up and was assisted to the designated driver's vehicle safely. No complaints. :) read more

AWFUL front desk staff. Had a 9 am appointment and walked in right on time. The only lady at the front was on the phone (I'm assuming on hold because she wasn't talking) but the clipboards with paperwork were there so I grabbed one and started filling it out. Phone was hung up and still never got acknowledged, greeted, instructed as to what I needed to do. Twenty minutes go by and she finally asked if I was done with the paperwork. Another ten minutes have gone by and I have yet to be taken back for my consultation which to be honest, I'm about to just walk out without a consultation. While I was pleased w this place and the efficiency of consult and surgery, billing leaves something to be desired. In my case, the claim was submitted almost 90 days after surgery. This caused some overlap of benefits with other dental work. My regular dentist reviewed coverage and it showed I still had $ available on my benefit. My dentist submit within 24 hrs after the appointment. It leaves a bad impression getting a bill 5 months after surgery that is $500 more because dental benefit ran out. Had I known it wasn't going to be submitted in a timely manner, I could have postponed my other dental work. But since it showed I still had benefit.... read more

I went to Dr. Engel to have four wisdom teeth extracted. I was very nervous about the process but he and his staff were friendly and professional. He answered my questions and even let me have my teeth when I asked for them. On top of that about four days after the surgery I was having some pain and thought that maybe I had dry socket. They were able to see me the very same day and were friendly and Dr. Engel answered all of my questions and assured me to call anytime if I needed anything else. It's so important to find a Dr. of any kind that is willing to answer questions and takes the time to show they care. This office was able to get my husband in IN AN HOUR after seeing his endodontist and the endodontist determining he needed surgery. The receptionist (who I was initially shocked by with the neck tattoos) was super knowledgeable and professional. Goes to show you that you can have tattoos and be a professional. I went to this surgeon to get 2 teeth pulled. I went in and was very stressed out. I was hoping that they would calmly assure me I'm ok. But no, I had two top teeth pulled and the doctor "Accidentally" somehow got part of my tooth in my sinus cavity. While on laughing gas I was forced to walk to the X-ray room to get an X-ray. Then they had to cut my gum and give me stitches. I don't recommend this place especially for children. But maybe I just caught them on a bad day. read more

Looking around for a reputable dental surgeon to pull my wisdom teeth was difficult for me, there were just so many to choose from, and I wasn't sure who to trust. I went to Dr. Engel on a whim, seeing that he had an MD and a dental degree. I had the surgery and consultation on the same day. Staff was friendly, but not overly forced and chipper if you know what I mean. I waited probably 10-20 minutes total (in waiting room and in the chair). I barely had enough money for the procedure, but the Val, the billing specialist, worked out a super special day that I will never forget! The actual procedure just felt like it took 1-2 minutes with N2O (orange flavor) and lidocaine., and it was pain free! They even called in the next day to check up on me. I don't know why, but around my house, none of the oral surgeons had any reviews- let alone good ones. That being said- I think these guys are wizards. No joke. I went here on a recommendation from Dentist Carr, who was pretty professional. Carr had said that my nerves were too close to my wisdom teeth for his level of comfort as far as removal- and sent me to Engel. I really, really wanted to be unimpressed. The office is very Hawaiian flavored, and if you go there, you will know what I mean. There are fish in the waiting room, and in the offices were the work is done, there are little palm trees with Maui flavored tissue boxes. I went there without an appointment, so I was expecting to wait a while, and I did. Engel is apparently both an oral surgeon and an MD, and I don't know if that is super common, but if you are really freaked out about the prospect of oral surgery, that may be a huge plus to you. He looked at my x-rays, said that it wouldn't be a big deal to get the teeth out, and took them out that same day. Was there waiting involved? Oh, yes, quite a lot actually. But I was a walk-in and the waiting room was packed. Being seen and getting surgery that same day was great. That being said, if I would have an appointment with them, I would have been very annoyed and have fewer stars. Maybe just three. Anyway, teeth are out. It didn't take him nearly as long as I expected- probably two minutes on one tooth, and maybe about 4 on the other (which had some complications- he had to remove a chunk of the bone around it to get it out). I know that neither of the songs I had been listening to were finished by the time he was done. One of the best parts was the pricing. I had this done under local anesthetic, which one of the dentists I had seen said was ill-advised and absolutely refused to do it. I didn't have insurance because of issues with my dad and his insurance company. So, I paid for the procedure myself, with no help from insurance. Two partially erupted wisdom teeth out- 577 without insurance. He said he could take out my top teeth, which are still completely covered by the gum line, for 654. These numbers are because apparently my wisdom teeth weren't as bad as three dentists led me to believe- so your milage may vary. Why are they wizards? They called to ask how I was doing about ten minutes after I had puked from the medication. I really wish that the lady I talked to would have talked to my boyfriend to get him to calm down about it. read more

I couldn't recommend Dr. Engel's office more. Personally, I am terrified of any dentist, not matter how easy the procedure. But things were different when I met this amazing staff. Here's a few of my favorite things: 1) Dr.Engel and his entire staff are incredibly friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile. They know I'm an anxious patient and are always very reassuring, understanding, and speak in a very calm tone too. 2) It is a great one- on - one experience. I never feel rushed through my appointments or feel like the doctor is seeing too many patients at one time. I always have plenty of time to go through my exam/consultant/procedure with Dr. Engel and his assistants. I feel like he takes his time and is thorough. 3) There's never a thing such as too many questions. I always have a thousand questions for the staff and each person goes out of their way to give me the attention I need and an informative answer. They even helped me to find another trusted dentist to help with the other half of my dental implant. 4) I love that I'm not waiting around in the lobby for an hour before my appointment. I'm always called back to start my appointment shortly after the scheduled time. Also, I have not had to wait long to meet with Dr. Engel after being shown to the correct room and meeting with the assistant helping. 5) It was shocking to me when I received a call from the office several hours after my surgery for the simple fact that they wanted to check up on me and make sure that I was recovering well. They answered, once again, all of my follow up questions. They assured me to call anytime and if I had any concerns, that Dr.Engels work cell number was on the answering machine. They have followed up after each one of my procedures. They have also left me reminder calls for every single one of my appointments the day before. 6) I have never, ever felt like I was being pushed into something, upsold, or anything crazy like that. After knowing I was going to have to go through a few procedures, Dr. Engel was able to go through all of my options to get my teeth healthy again. He educated me on how each procedure worked and why he recommended certain ones for my specific needs. This was much better than the "because I said so" attitude I felt I received from other dentists/surgeons. He even recommended I visit an orthodontist for a consultation to receive more information of what the best plan for me would be, before we scheduled any procedures. I have visited there for several consultations, exams, x-rays, extraction, widsom teeth extraction surgery, and now finishing up a dental implant. I have only been a patient for a little over a year, but I have to say that I'll never go anywhere else. Last week I was borderline sepsis from a broken tooth and fading quick.. I had no idea the level of pain I was going to be in when that tooth became infected. I called EVOS and Val answered quickly and was extremely polite. I was in tears on the phone, being referred by my dentist, and begged Val to get me in ASAP to remove my tooth. She scheduled me for the very next day. We discussed anesthesia vs. nitrous oxide, she was patient while I figured out whether my mother could pick me up after being put under. When I arrived, everything went so smooth!! Dr. Engel was amazing and recommended removing 3 additional teeth (including wisdom). His assistant (her name escapes me) made me comfortable with a blanket and even catered to me by putting on Peter Pan to comfort me. Dr. Engel was so damn fast from beginning to end.. I woke up so happy and so grateful. The healing process is SEAMLESS!! The only thing that I wish I would've done is asked for oxycodone without the Tylenol, it doesn't agree with me. But, overall.. I am very happy with my experience. I intend on returning to have my molar replaced with an implant. I highly recommend Dr. Engel and everyone in his practice. just now Never have I ever had such horrific customer service. A employee at this location was the worst with no education.I can't explain how they have people working like this. Came in to the office and since I started filling out paperwork I could sense the bad energy of this employee as I finished. I said are you having a bad day and she replied you were rude on the phone and I said excuse me she said you were rude on the phone I said why because I asked if you give reminder calls. She proceeded to say " we can take this outside" I was baffled when she stated this. It was to the extent that another employee had to tell her to leave because of her unprofessionalism. I ended up getting a dry socket (which is probably the worst pain I've ever had in my life) and dr. Engle came in on a Sunday afternoon to help relieve the pain. I had a very pleasant experience yesterday getting my four Wisdom teeth removed. I don't usually care for operations or the dentist - but I literally sat down and then woke up and my wisdom teeth removed. I don't really remember it - other than when I was waking up from the sedation. I never felt any pain - and Dr. E was amazing. I went in for an x-ray - and they were able to remove the same day. When it's all said and done I cannot say enough good things about Dr.Engel and the pride he takes in his work! I have spent 9 years, and thousands of dollars (with other surgeons) trying to correct and restore my smile after a bad fall that irreversible damaged two of my front teeth, the damage was so extensive that over time it has created bone damage, thus over time, I have had two failed root canals, a failed apicoectomy, ultimately an extraction, a failed dental implant, a repeat dental implant that attempted to reject -requiring additional surgeries, bone grafting, tissue grafting and extensive healing time. Dr. Engle took my case after the previous attempts to salvage my teeth failed, at the point where a dental implant was initially needed, and despite the challenges, even when the first implant failed- he told me that "I paid for an implant and I would get one!" I don't think even he realized how much extra time, resources, additional surgeries, etc, that that would entail, and never once was I charged for the many additional surgeries, materials, costs, time, etc that I incurred (that being said- I'm sure that's not standard practice, because failure is rare. Regardless - it was a kindness I'll never forget)! Dr. Engle stood by his work and only wanted a success, and that to me is the epitome of integrity! And although I pray I won't have any further issues, I know that if I do, he will be who I go to! I cannot say enough about the kindness and patience he showed, despite the difficulties and frustrations of my case! Being a person who constantly jokes and laughs, feeling less then confident about my smile because of my front teeth does take its toll. It's frustrating to always have to be consciously aware not to fully smile or laugh too hard for fear of partials, flippers, stitches, or scar tissue showing. He was confident he would get me my implant successfully, and he delivered! He and his team went above and beyond in what I recognize was not your typical cut and dry surgical case!
