I had a wonderful experience at Tempe Family Dentistry. I immediately noticed how professional and courteous the office staff was. I was provided a brief tour of the dental office prior to my cleaning from an office staff member. I advised my hygienist of a few items prior to the cleaning. I can say it was the most thorough dental exam that I have had in memory. I felt at ease considering some of the items that were discussed. I appreciated I did not have unnecessary products or services pushed on me. Feedback about my dental health was given to me in a thoughtful manner. This was my first visit to Dr Smith's office and I could NOT be happier!!! I Decided to change dentists due to the fact that every time I visited my past Dentist I felt very self-conscious about my teeth. In fact, I felt as if I may lose my teeth at any moment. However, I was still nervous about seeing a new doctor. Within 30 seconds of being in the chair in the back of the office, VERONICA Erased all of my concerns. We Spent several minutes getting to know each other before we even started talking about my teeth. We spoke for a few minutes About our pets, family life and hobbies. It was very Reassuring that I was not just a patient but an actual person to these people. After we spoke about our common interests, talk led to my concerns about my teeth. I explained to her that I was not very fond of my last dentist because they Had me convinced that my gums and teeth were both in very poor shape. I was constantly being told I needed Extra services that can Cost an additional fee. Once she began her examination she immediately put me at ease by reassuring me that my gums and teeth were in very good shape. She explained every step that she was taking during the entire process. When she was finished cleaning and polishing my teeth it was time to meet Dr Mike. First thing he said to me when he walked in was "nice smile"! That is really great to hear from the dentist! He once again reassured me that my teeth and gums were in very good shape and all I need to do is keep coming for exams every 4 to 6 months. After they recommended what seemed to be unnecessary dental work, I came back to Tempe Family Dentistry for a second opinion. I am really happy with Dr. Smith's office. I have always been nervous about going to the dentist office in general. However, I have been going to this office for about 4 years total and have found that my nervousness has subsided significantly. It is because Dr. Smith and his staff are professional, helpful and make you feel comfortable about going to the dentist. Danielle, my dental hygienist, was so welcoming and kind. She answered every single question I had and made me feel extremely comfortable every step of the way. I felt as though she took all of my worries and questions into consideration while performing my cleaning and aimed to work on the areas I stressed more about during our consultation. I was referred to this practice by a friend of 10 years. It seemed as if I was in a situation of, "everything that could go wrong will go wrong." Going to the dentist is easily the most stressful experience for me. I have horrible sensory issues with the noises and drilling, etc. Dr. Smith is understanding, never condescending and he and his staff go above and beyond. I have witnessed staff comforting elderly patients who are experiencing anxiety in the waiting room and they are pros! The office manager Jennifer is beyond proficient. She is on top of EVERYTHING. I think she remembered me after the first time I entered the office. I wish I had that sort of recollection talent! One of the latest wow-moments with Jennifer was when she called me on the Friday after Thanksgiving to set up an appointment I had requested. When I asked why she was working on that day, she said, "Well I stopped by the office and thought it was a good time to follow up with you." Are you kidding me!! ALL the staff are so agreeable and professional. I highly recommend this practice and I'm definitely not one who EVER has a good experience to share about dental work. read more

They have always been very punctual in taking us back for our cleanings. We have found the staff, including Mike, to be personable and friendly, while maintaining that professional attitude and approach. The cleaning has been thorough and well done. I have asked that they not take x-rays every year unless there is a specific need. Mike agreed. His exam is always performed professionally, complete, and timely. I have been going to this practice since I was 10 years old - it's been 48 years now! A couple of years ago, my long time dental assistant, Brenda, and Dr. Smith discovered I had a bone infection from some crowns on my front teeth that I had done almost 40 years ago. They immediately sent me to an endodontist to have my root canals redone and thankfully the bone has regenerated and Dr. Smith replaced my crowns with some beautiful new ones! I'm so thankful for his expert care and concern! Then a month ago, I was leaving on a trip and an old crown fell off of a back molar. I called the office and they made room for me that same day. They cleaned it up and put it back in place free of charge. They cared enough to fit me in and make my vacation enjoyable! And I love all of the hygienists and front desk staff! The main reason I have put 4 stars is that I am a brand new patient. I have been very pleased with Dr. Smith and his staff in the few months I have been a patient. I have had a crown, a filling, and cleaning done. All has gone well. The staff is always pleasant, they make efforts to get to know you, and you get the same person to clean your teeth each time. The person who cleans my teeth remembered chatting about animals, cats and dogs in particular and asked if I had gotten at cat since my last appt. I like when the staff knows you since it is a place you will be going yearly or 2x a year (for cleanings). Dr. Smith is very personable and, obviously, is good at what he does. I was referred to him by a friend, which I feel is the best reference (I have only be in AZ for 10 months). I am glad my friend made the referral. PS I had gone to the same dentist for 46 years before moving to AZ so a new dentist was a bit unnerving for me. Dr. Smith and his staff continue to make the transition a smooth one. read more
