I usually come every day as it's a reward for my dog to come and he's a been a better dog since I've been coming here. The adults are all wonderful from around the south windsor area.

Her shockingly rude and inappropriate behavior left us flabbergasted. It seems that keeping our dog leashed rubbed her the wrong way. Lady, who are you to sit there like the Queen of Sheba sitting on her throne and have the audacity to tell us what to do? Lady, first of all - you don't know our dog, and second of all - we don't know the other dogs, so what makes you think you have the right to talk down to us like a kindergarten teacher admonishing her kids for putting the yellow crayons in with the reds? What I love about this dog park is the track they have in both the small and the big park for me to walk around as my puppy plays with the dogs. At the time my puppy was 3 months old and the small side of the dog park and the people are amazing. As my puppy gets older we moved over to the bigger side. That's not even the best part about this park. The hiking trail behind the dog park is amazing. Do lookout for ticks in the warmer weather. There are so many trails perfect in the winter and the summer. Bring bug spray for those warmer weather and snow boots in the colder weather. The scenery of the river is amazing too depending which trail you take. I love how there's also a group of owners and their dogs on group hikes.

They have a few farm animals like horses, cows, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, and more. The barn includes information about all of the animals and the nature center has more information about Connecticut's nature scene. There's also a trail that seems to lead pretty far out. Without this sign I would never know there was a dog park in this area. This location is a bit strange. This is located behind a school. Well, the school is no longer active. St. Brigid St. Augustine Partnership School has been closed for almost five years. The rear of the former school has a nice sized dog park. It is fenced with the rules posted on the outside of the fence. The rules are pretty standard. My pup and I were the only ones here. The park is divided into two parks, one is for little dogs, which is where we were and the other is for larger dogs. Jude had such a fun time running around, and of course sniffing every single corner. There are a lot of wood chips all over the park, which undeniably ended up all over Jude's hair, and eventually all over my car. There was a bench which I sat at, and he came under, once he was ready for some shade. The West Hartford Dog Park is a nice park to let your dog run around and play.

Lots of wood chips cover the surface of the dirt, there are poop bags in a dispenser after you come into the entrance, and loads of old tennis balls can be found lying around the ground. I just wish there was another large garbage bin inside the fenced in area of the park instead of just one right outside the entrance. I went for a second time today with Momo and both times I met the loveliest people with friendly dogs. There's also a separate fenced area for smaller dogs. We'll be coming here more often since it's so convenient and easy to access.

Looks like HVAC companies taking over the parking lot for work, one dude working out of his van was shirtless with full bear belly on display. I felt uncomfortable & left quickly. There's no park bench or anything like that along the river. The West entrance is the worst, smallest lot only fits 3 cars, long walking path to the river that's super narrow, some times only a foot wide & feels creepy, I'd avoid. The east entrance is very roomy, easily park 10 cars there with walking path 12 feet wide. However, it's very far to the river, at least half a mile walk. The 4th entrance is on Bayleys, I couldn't even find the parking lot, lol, nothing there.

One follows along the river, one crosses the river into the woods, and the third goes up a small hill. They're all three quiet and surrounded by greenery and a pleasant, although not particularly long, walk. There's also parking for a few cars at the end of the road leading up to the trails.
