Wow it's all about the $$$$ here!!! they told me I had a cavity that they couldn't show me on X-rays I went and got a second opinion (thank God) and that office ask me where were they planing to drill? Very upsetting and disappointing to be lied to! I can't believe they were goi g to drill with no real cavity! these are my teeth I would like to keep them forever. I will never go back and I wonder how they sleep at night lying to young patients ruining there perfect teeth. This review is from our entire family. Our boys are 7 and 9. They have been to eastern dental toms river for check ups and cleanings and actually enjoy going to the dentist. My husband and I are currently having dental work done. The hygenists and assistants are very hard working and knowledgeable. The only thing that I wish to be better is how long it takes to get in between appointments. read more

this place handled their front of house so poorly they've made me a yelp reviewer. even after leaving their office in tears bc of their lack of bedside manor, I still gave them another chance, multiple chances. the women who work the phones don't listen to the voice messages, and clearly don't care at all about inconveniencing a patient. it took me no less then 7 phone calls just to find out they don't take my new insurance after asking them to confirm that they did months ago when I made the appt. I'm now left w no dentist and am late for a cleaning. I found them wildly rude which hey we all take turns but what made me decide to leave and write this is more the fact that they didn't seem to care about the impact of that attitude on another human being not just on a business level but a human level. what's going on over there that that's the business culture. there are so many dentists to choose from. choose better than EASTERN DENTAL IN BRICK. read more

My experience with Eastern @ Toms River is mixed . They use student dentists for general work. Anything else they contract out for specialists. They don't tell you this , you have to read between the lines. I had to have a root canal, and crown. So the dentist working on me had to ask another dentist to come over and approve his work before I could continue in my treatment. This I was okay with me (but this was when I figued out they were students). The specialists were phenomenal .But what I had a problem with were the dental students, some leave a lot to be desired. I had 3 of them; 2 female ,and one male. I am a female so I can say this, the females were more focused on the work then me; the patient. One of them did not even introduce herself to me. The other one did not even explain what she was going to do in my own mouth. I decided that I would no longer have any more femle dentists . The office crew are great! The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth about Eastern is those two female dentists. They have very modern equipment , your digital xrays are on a flat screen right in front of you while you are being worked on . There are positives there, it are the student dentist that made it negative for me. It depends on what is important to you. I like everything else about Eastern, you can always change your dentist there. The students come and go. read more

I having been bringing my daughter for her orthodontic visits to this office because her original dentist off burnt down and we were diverted here for her care. For the past year, I have dealt with a wacky, eccentric, unprofessional orthodontist and rude office staff at ortho sign in desk. Recently, after her visit I went to check out for a follow up appointment and to pay the co-pay. The woman at the desk did not want to take my debit card payment and insisted that all of their patients are required to be enrolled in auto pay. I explained to her that I have never known about this. I pay the same way every single time for the past year and receive my receipt with no problem. She rudely proceeded to tell me that it is not possible and she is the director of orthodontics. I told her that it IS possible and her employees are doing it whether she required it or not. I asked her why she was badgering me about it because I am a customer who pays and sent from another office. She said they have to require auto pay because their patients don't like to pay. I told her that I have never missed a payment ever, my balance is almost done and I am not allowing them to auto deduct money from my debit card because I pay and that I am not giving them the opportunity to debit money from my account that I may not be required to pay. I also informed her as director of orthodontics that her front desk staff is rude and very demanding about asking for your payment as soon as you sign in for your appointment. She didn't care. Her answer to me was that it was because the patients there don't like to pay. Well, don't take your crap out on honest, paying customers. I also told her it was in MY best interest to pay my bill not hers, so my daughter could continue her care and because I am honoring my contract. read more

The worst place ever!! I have a regular dentist but for the past few years I have gotten my teeth cleaned here for the convenient fact that they have late night and Sat appts. I needed a filling and a replacement crown done. I thought ok let me get this done here since they have sat appts. I expected to see the one dentist that I have seen for years. To my surprise I did not see him apparently it makes you feel like your at a Dental clinic you get who you get. The dentist comes in doesn't introduce themselves and goes right to work. I am given like 7 shots of Novocain my face is numb but I can still feel pain in my cheek area on the side they are working on. So I tell them even though it is numb I can feel like something is cutting into my cheek. Some adjustments are made but I still feel it on and off. About 2 a clock I can now start to feel how painful my cheek is. I look in my mouth and I have 2 large ulcerations at the top and bottom of my cheek. Imagine if after 7 shots of Novocain your patient tells you something hurts and it gets brushed off. I have never had something like this happen before all I know is I am now afraid to go back to get the permanent crown put on when it comes in. read more

My experience thus far... I switched insurance carriers and Eastern Dental was the option. I had to register with the Toms River location. I too, have read all reviews. I was scared. I was in the middle of a root canal and switched plans! My first visit wound up being an emergency visit. Can you believe that? I called up Monday morning explaining I was new.. like.. 20 days new on my insurance.. they said "no problem, come in at 2pm". I went in, filled out the dreaded paperwork that we must fill out for a paperless society. I think I waited 45 minutes, but I was in pain, so I would have waited 10 hours. The assistant was very pleasant, the Doctor was also very pleasant. Explained everything. Treated me with a temporary until I could get back for second half of root canal. In the middle of appointments I had a cleaning. I'll admit.. I am guilty of not going for about 5 years. She was a little rough.. and I really did leave with droplets of blood on my face.. but you know what? My teeth looked good. I took Advil and I survived! I went in for the second half of root canal and met another doctor. MY FAVORITE DENTIST EVER! I will not reveal name because then you all may steal my time with Dentist! The Doctor medicated me for my pain tolerance.. not for text book purposes or what they "think is appropriate". I was numb. I put my earphones in and jammed out to my music. Almost fell asleep. YUP! I was that relaxed. So that part people.. is important to know. That's our biggest fear, right? Pain? None. I experienced no pain. I then went to make my follow up appointments. Now here is where my review can be dicey. The receptionist was rude. But.. before we say more.. know their background. They are short staffed. They must keep everyone smoothly moving through the system. One hiccup and we all get bumped. So, I don't really care about their friendliness. I want to be in and out, pain free, and my next appointment set up. I will say my appointments were fine. I waited what I had to wait. Except when in pain, they took me in immediately. Brand new. THAT'S IMPORTANT! Be flexible and it'll work out. I hope this helps someone. I really took my time on this review because I had the same fears you have. We're not so different at the end of the day. I have been going to Toms River Eastern for a little over a year now. I have read the negative comments here and before I made my change. I just have to say I like Toms River, I think they do a great job there. I did learn from reading the comments on this site today what I expected that they use dental students. That explains why the "dentists " come and go. You get used to a dentist and go back they are gone. I had a couple that were terrible, in fact it got to the point I told them not to give me a female. I never had a doctor do work on me without even introducing themselves. Another did not bother to explain anything to me, so I told the office never to schedule me with females. I did not ask if they were actually students but that was my quess, because they had to have any questions you had about further work approved by another doctor. They should tell patients that they have student dentists in there though. The specialists are doctors with years of experience. The receptionists come and go too. The offfice is very , very busy. But for the most part they do good work there. The xrays are digital and are on a monitor in front of you so you can see them while your work is being done. I would recommend Eastern to anyone. read more

I have been going to Eastern Dental for the past 6 months. I can't wait until I can switch. The dentist I saw did a great job, but the office is horribly run. Every appointment I've had I've been on time or early and every time I end up waiting for 45 min to an hour just to get called back. They overbook every single time. The waiting room is always packed with annoyed people waiting to be called. A simple cleaning takes about 3 hours total because first you have to wait for an hour to be called, then they take you back and clean you, then you go back out and wait another 20-30 minutes to see the dentist. Then they send you BACK to the waiting room to wait another 40 minutes to be called to make your next appointment. It is the worst run office of any kind that I have ever experienced. I gave 2 stars because the dentist and periodontist were both very good, professional, good bedside manner etc. The office side is just such a mess, it's really not worth it. Once I am finished getting the rest of my gum surgery I am switching to the Brick location as the office is much better run over there. read more

Single worst dental experience in my life. An hour and forty minute wait before I was able to be seated. another fifteen minutes before the dentist saw me. Looked at my xrays and in my mouth for ten minutes and said i had a couple cavities that needed to be fixed. I go up to the front to schedule the appointment and she is telling me I need a root canal done. I asked why he never even mentioned the words "root canal" to me and she said "I am sure he did". Yeah cause i am going to sit around for just under two hours so someone can call me a liar? PASS! I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Lorraine gave me an awesome cleaning. Negatives are I had an appt yesterday for a cleaning and exam. I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes. That's just a crazy long wait.. they didn't even xray! Also, I'll never understand why they don't allow you to schedule your next 6 months appt as you leave their facility. The clinical staff is good. Although you will need to wait months to get an appt for a check up and cleaning, and once you have your appt you will need to wait a couple of hours to be seen. This office is always, always, always overbooked. I see people walking out in frustration, and today I did the same thing. I'm not going back. There is zero respect for your time at this office. I have been a patient at this office since 1995. I must say they have convenient office hours and take same day emergencies. I just had a filling replacement and was in and out of the office in one hour. 11:30 appt. left at 12:30. A new young female dentist attended to my needs. Her name is Dr. Narula. She was excellent and very concerned of my comfort level throughout my experience. This office has made an effort in improving the wait time of their patients. Whoever Maggie is that answers the phone at the front desk in the toms river office- should be fired. You call explaining how you're in excruciating pain and the response you get is a careless and snotty, "yeah we have no openings today. Try calling the answering service at the brick location." She abruptly hangs up. After calling the answering service and being placed on hold- I was told to call again tomorrow morning. After four hours of calling different dentist offices in the nearby area, and getting shut down by every one, I tried calling the eastern dental in toms river once again to try and get in for tomorrow. Hoping I wouldn't get the same rude and careless person I got when I called the first time, which didn't happen. Maggie tells me quickly and also with a nasty undertone that they're closed tomorrow and I can either go to the emergency room and wait or try calling the brick location tomorrow. I'm writing this review because although I can understand stress and maybe having an off moment, you should never express that to patients. Eastern dental is known for not having the best staff out there, so you would think they'd stop employing rude and nasty people. If I ever go there again and see this Maggie girl, I'm giving her a piece of my mind after I speak with a superior about her. :) read more

As a favor to my parents, I took my little sister to get braces here today. I wish that I could give more stars to her orthodontist and his assistants because they did a great job and were very very nice. However, the woman who was working at the front desk made me feel so awful, that I think 2 stars is actually being generous. There was some confusion with the payment and I had to call my mom. Not a big deal, but this woman treated me like absolute dirt because of it. She had to call the billing office to check something and the way she was talking about me and my mom made me feel awful. I'm sorry that I made her job the tiniest bit harder today because of a misunderstanding, but there's no need to treat people with such disrespect. I could tell that she felt bad later on because as we were leaving she joked that today was probably just as hard for me as it was for my sister. Yeah it was...... because of her. An apology would have been better. And by the way, it's not like I'm some young kid. I'm 26 years old. read more

To sum it up, inconsiderate, incompetent, waited over an hour when I was 15 minutes early for the appointment. Dentist was a jerk. I told them no x-rays at the appointment time and when we got there and to the girl who gets you ready for the dentist and he had the nerve to refuse to see us because I refused x-rays. All I wanted was a cleaning and I told him I'd sign off on a waiver. NOPE. Then they wouldn't give me back the copy of the insurance and my ID they had. Why should they keep my personal stuff they refuse to treat us? Should have known the argument just with the scheduler that it was going to be an issue. This was for my son, I've been there as a patient in the past for a few years. They have no consideration for your time and you always feel like your being processed. You wait, then get moved to wait then go back to the waiting room then go back to the hygienist to wait again for her. I'd like to send them a bill. Save yourself time and a hassle and run in the other direction to another practice! They have not mastered anything but delaying their customers and pissing them off. read more

wait time was horrible obviously overbooked. doctor was unsure what should be done and had to ask another doctor. they got my first name incorrect so the secretary had to keep going in and out of the room to make sure everything was corrected. the hygienist cut my gums up horribly ripped the lining of my gum out. closest appointment to fix the tooth was over a month. the tooth is broken mind you. now im in pain called to ask for antibiotics they said they would send the script... never did and theyre closed tomorrow... on a Thursday! severe pain and hoping another dentist will help me ASAP now. read more
