I accepted it and ate my lunch in my car. Only until afterwards I thought that i might have even overcharged and I was. Like other reviews mentioned the fish not being fresh the day they were there my aunt's bf ended up pointing it out on a roll he ordered. The chef was rude, VERY loudly cursing and over all unprofessional. He eventually calmed down (a bit, he was still fairly agitated and made passive aggressive comments) and went to try to question my aunt's bf but he said what he said. Delivery driver arrived with order & said delivery charge amount was increased. I printed out the original order, showed driver to compare to his receipt, paid driver in cash & gave him a $5.00 tip, even though order amount had increased. Said thank you & good night. Get this: Driver then banged on our glass storm door... - I turned around, opened the door, he sticks his foot in the bottom of door (!!), showed me the money I had paid & demanded- not asked- DEMANDED THAT I PAY HIM MORE OF A TIP!!! This used to be THE BEST place. Moved here in 2012 & loved it. However things have gone down hill for a while. We got BURNT General Tso's chicken back in 2014. I let it go because we loved this place so much. ordered a few more times after that But it seemed like every time we went back theres something thats different & just not the same as it used to be. I heard there was new owners a few years ago & I decided to try it again. It was OK but still not what I was expecting. Up 'till now we've had great meals from Eastern Dragon. When our son bought his first home not far from Eastern Dragon we decided to celebrate with and Eastern Dragon dinner. It was terrible. We had dumplings,Crab Rangoon, Kong Pao Calamari and Seafood Pad Thai. The appetizers were OK. But the Kung Pao was not recognizable as Kung Pao It was in a single portion bowl, perhaps a half cup of deep fried squid, scant soggy sauteed veggies over LOTS of small crispy rice bits. Ugh! The Seafood Pad Thai was no better. A larger container of noodles with two mussels, three shrimp (yeah, we counted when we have to dig thru the noodles to find anything but mussels!) and a few bits of rubbery bits of mystery (maybe) seafood. If I hadn't had Eastern Dragon before I wouldn't be so disappointed in this icky meal. My men ate the Kong Whatever after they doused it in the dumpling sauce because they were VERY hungry. The pad thai? Not so much. I'm really disappointed because I'd told our son how great Eastern Dragon was, and hoped it's become his go-to Chinese restaurant. Again absolutely disgusting behavior and completely unprofessional. I will be contacting my credit card company to dispute these charges. My food was 35 minutes late and cold and when you call they don't want you to speak to a manager or even try to help. In the restaurant business there is ALWAYS a manager on site to handle problems. My husband and I have been ordering from here for a little over two years and tonight's pick up has to be the most disappointing order we have received from them. I liked them when we first moved to the area but their quality has gone down hill. The shumai was so mushy it was hardly edible. Hands down the worst I have ever eaten. The shrimp fried rice was so tasteless my daughter wouldn't eat any more than one bite of it. Eastern Dragon is the best Chinese restaurant in Quakertown! My girl friend and I went for a quick dinner and we're pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Not only did our server take care of us, but other servers would refill our drinks and clear dishes from the table, as we moved through our meal. It was nice to have have fried noodles and duck sauce waiting for us on the table, when we sat down. We started with the won ton soup - average. Pretty good. I like this place for its cleanliness and friendliness, the first point hard to find in most Chinese restaurants. Diverse menu with some neat specials that u wouldn't see in other Chinese restaurants. Sushi is made to order which is a plus. Not as flavorful as i would have hoped but probably your best option for sushi in a country town like Quakertown. Go instead for their seafood trio in garlic sauce, or tangerine chicken. I had the phoenix shrimp - they were jumbo shrimp surprisingly. So all in all a higher quality restaurant for asian food but maintaining reasonable pricing. I don't care how busy they are, we've been loyal customers for years and if they can't get the order correct then they should own up to it and issue a refund or at least a partial one. will NEVER be going back to this place. I've been coming here for years and this is the first time i've ever had any issue. Me and my boyfriend ordered the same thing we've gotten countless times, teriyaki and sesame chicken, (and pork fried rice - which was fine). both came out in less than 5 minutes and he started eating hiswhile i ate the rice. then i take a bite of my chicken and immediately know something's wrong - chicken was soft rubbery little strips, not firm at all. honestly was like biting through foam or something. so he tried mine and said the same thing, i cut a piece of his in half and didn't have any texture similar to chicken, like completely soft. i don't even know what we were served- i've never seen anything like this. Then our waiter comes over, we tell him we can't eat it and he tries saying it's fine it's fine.. so i say it's really not fine, we can't eat this and we aren't paying for things we barely touched .. so he brings the manager over. manager is already annoyed and immediately starts arguing with us going off saying there's nothing wrong with it and that he won't be taking it off the bill. i show him the piece i cut in half that literally looks like foam and he said "that's just breading i've been a manager here for 13 years and they've never changed anything" his face is literally red that's how mad he is. and i said "okay that's fine but we aren't paying for this" because 1) it's inedible and 2) IT WASNT TOUCHED except for a couple bites. not like we ate everything then tried to complain.... and then he turns to my boyfriend and starts arguing with him AGAIN saying how there's obviously nothing wrong. so he says "what do you want to try it and see?" My boyfriend and I have been frequenting this place ever since we were told about it. We usually go for sushi when it's available at a restaurant, and boy am I glad it's available at this one. The sushi has always been fresh had such a beautiful presentation. Their ginger salad dressing cannot be compared to with how sweet and authentic the flavor is. I haven't tried a lot of the rest of the menu, but what I have tried so far was delicious and not too salty or greasy. Not only was our food amazing, but the service was spectacular! We placed an order for pickup and because of all of the closures they had only a few people on staff. They got completely slammed, but almost immediately more crew showed up, on their day off, to help get the orders out. They were cheerful and kind the whole time, and the food was as good as always. Is it me or am I missing something when it comes to the rave reviews here at Eastern Dragon? The food is all right, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing extraordinary about it. This is your standard Chinese restaurant with a splash of sushi/sashimi thrown in for good measure. I'm noticing an emergence of Chinese/Japanese fusion restaurants more and more. Is this a new trend? My party arrived on a weekday night for dinner and it was relatively quiet. It's a small restaurant located in a strip mall so I didn't come in with any expectations. We ordered the steam dumplings (meh), moo shu pork (tasty), the szechuan pork (ok), the dragon & phoenix (beautifully presented and tasty), and the tofu in black bean sauce (double bleh!). I also ordered a spicy tuna roll which was decent. Stephen H is correct in his caveat about the drinks - they'll charge you for every single drink (i.e., refills). What's up with that?! Prices are very reasonable with most menu items priced around $9 to $13. Service was good, but I imagine since there were only three or four tables filled, we lucked out a bit. I did notice a steady stream of take-out customers so maybe this is where they get most of their business. I'd come back, but there's certainly no rush. read more

We didn't go in but we ordered take out through their website. Yes you can order your food online. Before I could even catch my breath, they were at my door. I am exaggerating of course but they were super fast. Now on to the important part, the food. The food was really good and was not very oily like a lot of Chinese food can be. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for delivery. It makes me want to visit it in person. The one drawback from the online delivery is that they won't let you pay via a credit or debit card. If they are worried about security concerns then they should allow you to make the payment via PayPal. Just a thought. read more

Eastern Dragon Quakertown is one of the better sushi restaurants in the Philly area.. Frankly I prefer them over the local over-hyped Ooka spots. ED Service has always been great, and very friendly. What few consumers realize is there are only a handful of sushi suppliers out there to choose from in the wholesale market, as it is highly regulated, and essentially you are getting fish from the same sources at many of the sushi restaurants in our area. Sushi spots are supposed to post their suppliers info and show all the certs for such, if you do not see it, you can always ask. Don't be surprised if that famous downtown sushi joint uses the same sushi wholesaler as ED or otherwise. As for asian food, chinese or japanese, they are also one of the best out there. The food is always excellent, fresh, cooked well, served well, the place is clean, etc. This is a standard of consistency which you simply cannot say the same for very many asian restaurants in the area. I highly recommend ED for both its sushi, and asian cuisine! Personally I have always loved their honey shrimp and coral shrimp. Eel has always been fantastic (most of which comes from a single source in our area) and their rolls are all very very good. Unfortunately for them, they are in Quakertown! So I don't understand why many of these reviews complain about being "Americanized." You should just be glad they don't have burgers and hot dogs on the menu! They have to cater to their market, like any business. The food did not arrive until 90 minutes later. They forget our two egg rolls, so we called. They said we have to come pick up the egg rolls or it's going to be a while. I have worked in the food industry for 16 years. That's poor service. You forgot my food and you came 30 mins later than you said. I'll admit it. I'm not very adept with chopsticks. I prefer to use a fork, especially when the food is as good as it is at Eastern Dragon. My standards for Chinese food are fairly high. I grew up eating authentic Chinese dishes prepared by my friend's father who immigrated from Hong Kong and owned his own restaurant in Philadelphia. Dishes at Eastern Dragon are nowhere near as authentic as dinners at my friend's house but are almost as delicious. The menu offers traditional "American-ized" items as well as some gourmet specialties. Sushi and some Japanese items also share space on the menu. On my last visit, I tried the Dragon & Phoenix. I am a sucker for food items that sound like they came out of a Harry Potter movie. This dish is the best of both worlds. I got heaping portions of perfectly prepared General Tso's chicken and Shrimp in a citrus-y Schecuan sauce. Both dishes had just a hint of spice and fire. My personal preference would be a little more heat, but it suited my more mild-mannered hubby just fine. The shrimp was just a tad bit chewy, but the delicious sauce more than compensated. The citrus flavor was a nice compliment to the heavier flavor of General Tso's chicken. No fried greasy taste here, just a nice crisp tempura with a rich sauce that has hints of ginger and garlic. The chefs clearly understand subtle flavors and balance. Even the fried dishes have a well-developed flavor of something other than fryer oil (one of my chief complaints at other restaurants). Vegetables are nicely incorporated into the dishes rather than thrown in as an afterthought. The chicken is alway high-quality white meat chunks, as opposed to the suspect meat used by other restaurants. I was also impressed with the presentation, which reminded me more of a nicer Thai restaurant than a strip-mall Chinese place. I'd be remiss if I didn't praise the service as well. The wait staff is polite to a fault and anticipates needs before we had to ask. My biggest complaint is that the menu sticks too closely to American favorites. The chefs are clearly talented and have more to offer than the basics. If you're craving the basics, though, go where they do the basics the best. read more

So I'm here for you all with a PSA: The sushi at Eastern Dragon, unlike some Yelpers here argue, isn't anything special. If you like California rolls and shrimp tempura rolls and that weirdo soy paper wrap, maybe you'll like this place. But if you yearn for luscious tuna sashimi, pine for freshly grated wasabi root, or crave real miso soup, move along, samurai. Beyond the flat-tasting fish and the lack of sushi selections, there are a few strange details about this place. *The staff seems to have worked out a bizarre means of communicating orders via intercom. At various moments throughout your meal, the inconspicuous adult contemporary music will be interrupted by the harsh, crackling din of garbled restaurant code. What is this? The Hunt for Red October? *The employees' children ricochet around the restaurant, squealing and squeaking. Sometimes they'll be sitting at the sushi bar furiously scribbling in a coloring book, which is lovely if you enjoy the smell of crayons with your yellowtail nigiri. *Eastern Dragon has one poor sushi chef making all the sushi for the restaurant. Now, granted, because most people are ordering General Tso's Chicken here, he's not burdened with tickets. However, I've been to the restaurant on two instances when the sushi chef had a cold and continued to make rolls, sniffles and all. Find a backup for this guy, please! *Said overworked sushi chef is good at his job, but possesses a limited knowledge of the cuisine he prepares. On one occasion I ordered sweet (raw) shrimp; he served me cooked shrimp. On another, I asked him if they have any quail eggs for the ikura and he shrugged his shoulders. The one time I asked for uni? He giggled. Look, I understand this is a Japanese-Chinese mutant-restaurant IN A STRIP MALL IN QUAKERTOWN. This isn't New York City. This isn't Philly. But you know what? Hachi, a new Japanese fusion restaurant 15 minutes south, has sweet shrimp. They've managed to magically procure quail eggs and uni. Their fish has flavor! Flavor!
