The appetizers had to have been pre made and didn't taste fresh but they were still good. House salad was really just lettuce a few tomatoes overly dressed and drenched and the tempura appetizer, popcorn shrimp and pork gyozas had that chain restaurant flavor feel to it. the specialty rolls however were delicious, full of flavor and gorgeous. i recommend asking for one to be wrapped in cucumber it was very good. The desserts were also, like the appetizers just very pre made chain type of food. They were good desserts sure, just underwhelming and boring. I gotta say tho their whipped cream is strangely different and delicious! As for the service that was not good. There was a long wait of people but we had a reservation and got sat within 3 minutes. hostesses definitely were confused and could have used some help. The atmosphere is lovely and it's such a beautifully designed restaurant. It took around 15 minutes before we even got greeted by our server and he just kept going round to other tables after taking our order instead of immediately putting it into the computer. After her greeted us we ordered drinks and he came back without drinks asking for our appetizer order so we put that in and it came out 5 minutes later... we still had no drinks on our table and appetizers came out first... not great. food runners just brought everything out and no one ever really checked to ask if everything was good. took a long time to get appetizer olates removed and even longer to longer to get our servers attention to order rolls. eventually we ordered and it took 25+ minutes for food to come out. The rolls were good yes but we were over it by then. A century later after hunting someone down we were able to order dessert and again took a while to come out and took even longer to get the check. the server was nice but there was only like 2 servers on a Saturday night so i think if they had more servers the whole meal would have been great. read more

Our waiter acted like he didn't like us. He failed to bring the drinks we ordered. He also failed to bring us soy sauce. He did not check on us. We had to flag him down to get the drinks and sauce. I had ordered extra lemon with my drink, I didn't get that either when he finally brought our drinks. I will mot be coming back to this Ooka. We will go to Doylestown or Willow Grove instead. read more

Service was excellent and all of the food was delicious. The hibachi chicken and filet mignon combo was out of control and I got two helpings of fried rice and could have gone for a third! There are two major things at this location: the hibachi grill and regular seating. We did the hibachi grill this visit. It is very expensive for not a lot of food. Love this place! It's a good date spot, but I've also taken my teenaged children there. You can dress however you want and not feel out of place, some are casual while others may be a bit dressier. I enjoy the dinner when it's more crowded, but my favorite time to go is during lunch hours. You can't beat the price, and if you're lucky, you'll be the only person there, feeling like you're getting the vip treatment with you own cooking demonstration. A lunch must-try is the bento box! This had to be one of the worst experiences I had at a hibachi restaurant. The chef was rushing so much that he offered no saki to either the adults or baby saki to my 11 year old son, did nothing fun such as the egg roll or heart thumping and kept trying to rush us out. Also the food was barely edible. Plus they originally said we could come at 5;00 and then called an hour later saying we had to come at 4;15. The portion size was much less than anywhere I have been to. I usually cannot finish it but tonight I could. Save your money and go someplace else for hibachi. read more

Really disappointed to leave this review because yes the food was amazing! However, if you have allergies please be extremely cautious because I had a horrible experience. Upon arriving, I told the waiter that I have a severe nut allergy (as a lot of their rolls have pistachios, etc.) He was very sincere when he told me that he notified the chefs and they would be very cautious with my food & cross contamination which was great! ... until it wasn't. About 10 min after leaving the restaurant I went into anaphylactic shock, passed out, my boyfriend had to call an ambulance, and I spent the night in the hospital. So please be very careful with allergies here, clearly I got cross contaminated and the doctors told me if I waited any longer I would have died. read more

Love Ooka, been going to all 3 of their locations since I was a kid. I go more for the sushi and rarely the hibachi but their sushi is very good. It's always an excellent night out at this place. Have been here several times and had the teriyaki steak tips with sobo noodles (I think they were sobo) this most recent time and it was amazing. I'm not a big seafood guy, but my wife is and she loves the sushi at Ooka. This is a great date spot; very comfortable with nice decor. Try to request Harry as your server. Everybody is good here, but he is hands down the best. He makes you feel like you are the only table he has that day. Excellent, friendly service and great recommendations. read more

Visited Ooka for a late lunch one day, and was not disappointed. The restaurant had a very nice ambience. The staff was friendly and attentive. The pineapple shrimp served on a hot stone with the table favorite. The teriyaki New York strip steak was also delicious. But everything we tried was really good. Lunch time visit after searching decent Sushi place. Clean and large inside with Hibachi place in the other side of space. Separating regular dining and Hibacji dining area is a good thing. Selected Sushi lunch set from the menu. Miso soup and small salad got served prior to Sushi plate. 7 pieces of Sushi and California roll. Very decent Sushi, but wish all 7 pieces were different as 2 pieces of Salmon Sushi were there. Price felt right about as everything got more after COVID. I'm surprised the reviews for this restaurant are not higher! I've eaten here several times and I can confidently say it's the best Japanese food I've ever had. Everything is so fresh. The Chilean sea bass appetizer special is amazing. The steak yaki noodles are my favorite. Great selection of wines and saki. Service is abysmal at this location. First time coming here in a few years and I have no reason to come back any time soon. The fun began when getting seated at the habachi table. The hostess rudely pointed at the table, so we seated ourselves at the end of the counter (like one would normally do)...when she came back she yelled at us that we needed to move because the "other" family needed to sit in our seats (two families with a center seat empty). The two families laughed about the absurdity of the situation, but I let it pass. Next bit of fun didn't involve me directly, but the other family. The mother ordered a martini, but when it came out it was almost all olive juice. She sent back the first one, only to get the second one at room temp. I'm not a martini drinker, but even I know it should be chilled. She scooped out ice from the water glass (she also had an issue with the bartender not wanting to move the bar tab to table check). Shame on you Ooka. Next comes the waiter. Slow to order (i mean 30 minutes slow) and didn't bring the right drink order (also wrote down wrong meat temp, which the cook was able to catch in the read back). Asked for chop sticks, but had to get up and get them ourselves (10 year old really wanted them). He took away the salad my wife was eating (half was left). She literally still had the fork in her hand. Drink went empty with no refills until the end of dinner (before the check). The saving grace is the chef...the main star of the show. But they are usually pretty good so he only saved them one star Management should be ashamed of the waiter and bartender...it was running joke at our table. I've been going here for 10 years and have never had a bad meal. The servers are always great, the interior is warm, and the food is delicious. The sushi is fresh and flavorful. I would highly recommend the Mushroom Toban and Pork Belly Buns. The miso soup is also warm and wonderful. Great hibachi, too! read more

Not the biggest fan of their sushi but loved the noodles, veggies, and that they had a brown rice option instead of fried rice! The flourless chocolate cake was BEAUTIFUL and so yummy. First time trying it today and pretty disappointed. We were a party of five. The table that was given to us was shaking when we sat down, soy sauce was spilled. Our sushi did not taste fresh, it was hard and tasteless. I would also recommend the restaurant to close it for a day, and have a very good cleaning to clean off all the dust from the lamp shades and thoroughly clean the bathroom floors and tiles. Great service, nice ambiance, we arrived late for our reservation and they still honored our reservation. I know most people come for the sushi, this time I decided to go for the airline chicken, it was very average and I wish it would've at least been sliced, but the teriyaki sauce was really good. My date for the lobster dynamite which is always a crowd pleaser, but the doylestown location does as much better presentation of the lobster dynamite roll. Overall, decent but somehow think the doylestown location does everything better, even the miso soup as mine had 2 barely visible pieces of tofu in it and the salad was practically soggy with dressing. read more

There is a NOTICEABLE Nat/Fruit fly INFESTATION. Food is great, the place is beautiful and the staff is amazing, but no matter where I sit, there are ALWAYS Nats flying around me. We had reservations for hibachi but were not seated until 30 minutes after we arrived. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all and our order was incorrect. Perfect place for a birthday dinner and special events. So this is wifeys birthday, a Wednesday night and the place was full and festive. The service was very good and they were hustling. Super fresh & creative menu. We ate everything up, it was great. We've ordered takeout & have eaten on site. The restaurant itself isn't very big but the atmosphere is nice, good vibe. I appreciate they keep the hibachi experience in a separate room. Not everyone wants to listen to the clanging of metal & people loudly exclaiming whenever someone catches a flying shrimp with their mouth. The James Bond roll & baked mussels are off the chain! I've waited until after a 2nd visit to review since I really wanted to give this place a chance. The first time around , I wasn't impressed with their sushi roll menu choices. Very basic all around from selection to presentation to taste. The sushi was "mushy" during both of my visits ( you'll know the difference once you have fresh sushi) and their was nothing distinct about it. Then onto the hibachi. We were crammed in along a back wall (the room is narrow) . The presentation during both visits was just ok. The chef seemed bored of the routine and did nothing extraordinary to make it exciting for the diners. I was excited to see scallops on the hibachi menu , but again was disappointed by the bland flavor and the skimpy portions . Very basic and chain-y food. Much better and fresher sushi in the area and by taking a little drive , a way better hibachi experience elsewhere. read more

Service was amazing! Food was delicious! We sat outside due to Covid and even though it wasn't super fancy, it was clean and comfortable! Also the flourless chocolate cake dessert was to die for!!! We had a special Wagyu beef appetizer that we really enjoyed....we were served uncooked Wagyu beef and we cooked it ourselves on a hot stone!
