I thought this clinic couldn't be any good just because it's so close to home (2 minutes away). Dr…read more Jen is awesome! Not only was Dr. Jen not afraid of my fur baby (she's a nice cat) but she has a great quirky sense of humor that I appreciate. She just let us know that our cat had a cold but didn't show signs of infection ("not blowing yellow or green snot bubbles" lol) so our cat didn't need further treatment which we were very relieved to hear since we let her know that we have a low budget. She did recommend a supplement which we got at PetSmart. It has a pretty strong bad odor. Cats are way more picky than dogs on what they'll consider eating (smell, taste and even texture). We tried hiding it in a Greenies pill pocket but she could still smell it and walked away. If it were necessary medicine I could have forced her to take it but it was just a recommended daily supplement. I wasn't going to force her to take it every day. She'd get afraid of me. I am already aware that my cat has periodontal disease and isn't up to date on vaccines, which btw rabies isn't even necessary every 3 years, FVRCP might be necessary annually but our cats stay indoors at all times. She didn't push vaccines on my cat and she didn't push getting oral surgery to fix the periodontal disease and probably extract a couple teeth, which would have been plenty expensive. Now, I prefer Dr. Jen and don't mind taking my fur baby to be examined by her which isn't necessary often anyway. Five stars all around for the staff and clinic!

I didn't have a great experience with VCA West Shore Animal Hospital (and neither did my friends…read moreand neighbors), so I was reluctant to go to another VCA. However, I had no choice as it was a last minute appointment. My cat was experiencing some vomiting and I was at a loss. Now, I see another reviewer attempted to slander Dr. Leann Murphy, which is absolutely ridiculous. And essentially their complaint was about the bill. Newsflash, friend, pets can be expensive. Perhaps consider fish if you don't want to spend for the care of a mammal. My experience with Dr. Murphy was excellent. She did everything she could to exam my anxiously distressed cat before making a careful suggestion to place him under anesthesia so she could closely exam him. The medication she prescribed cleared his vomiting and she said it was due to stress (added another cat to the household). I'm a overly cautious and anxious pet owner, so I had numerous after appointment questions. Guess what? Dr. Murphy always returns my calls. Where most veterinarians would tell you "bring them back in" so they can hit you with another bill, she did not. Friendly staff. Thorough care. The bill was higher than I had anticipated, but that's the fault of the lab (full mark-up blood tests can be expensive), not VCA Smoketown. Yes, I would return to VCA Smoketown Animal Hospital, and yes I would recommend Dr. Leann Murphy.

My babies have been veterinary patients, grooming clients, and boarders when I moved. Why? Because I can't say enough about location, ease of access, the grounds and facility, and, most important, the compassionate and professional staff. The five of us are in dog, cat, and human paradise here.
