The vet asked if we used separate food and water bowls for our FIV+ and FIV- cats. After a quick google you will know that's not how it spreads, just like sharing a drink with an HIV+ person is not how it spreads. I had to educate the vet on this. Our last trip was with our older cat who needed bloodwork- this is where my main concerns come in. They need to get better at handling cats. From what behavior I saw, and as a previous vet assistant at a cat friendly office, they are not trained or capable of handling or effectively restraining moderately defiant cats. We had to tell them to wrap our cat and how to hold him after several minutes of chaos. It was pretty heartbreaking to watch him so stressed out. If you're trying to pull blood from an angry cat, take them to the back so the owners don't see you struggle with them. If you choose to do it in front of them, you better be sure you can effectively hold and treat their pet. Cat bags or burrito wraps should be first choice. Most cats are not going to sit perfectly still and be cool with you pulling blood. The wrap option was only chosen after 2-3 minutes of struggling, growling and scratching, and stress for our cat and us. I can wrap our cats tightly and effectively for nail trims at home- vet professionals should have this technique down. If you really can't do it, you make that determination after failed attempt 2 or 3. Not several minutes of trauma later. We left and went to another vet. The blood draw went fine.

We came back when we noticed more, they were removed and turned out to be breast cancer. Dr. Pautler then coldly told us it would be best to just put her down. We've moved all of our cats to a better vet since then. I don't know if they've just stopped caring or what, but I would highly suggest you not take your pets here.

First, for the sake of the consumer, let's clarify the role of this business. They are a farm veterinary practice dealing with farm animals. We have had these vets out to our farm for both routine and emergency visits. Based upon these visits let me address the three most important things about vets, efficacy of treatment, barnside manner and cost. Efficacy of treatment is superior. The vets have always been able to diagnose the problem and provide an effective therapeutic treatment. We have a goat with significant health challenges and they have taken the time to work on figuring out his issues without charging us for unnecessary or questionably effective treatments. As far as barnside manner, I am very impressed with these vets. During a castration, the doc took plenty of time titrating anesthesia. He didn't want to overdrive the anesthesia but he was very cognizant of making sure the goat was properly sedated and comfortable. He didn't rush into it. He took his time and made sure the animal was safely and humanely prepped for surgery. On a number of occasions, I have watched the vet adjust themselves into uncomfortable or difficult positions to examine or treat the animal so as to keep the animal comfortable. They don't force the animal into a painful position in order to make their life easier or simpler. They have all proven to be compassionate and caring providers. Lastly, let's discuss cost. I have had three emergency visits with treatment, and all of them have cost me under $300. Their price point on services rendered is well within industry norms. Their prices are very reasonable. We are very happy with this veterinary practice and they get a five star review from me.

The first time we met, she sat on the floor, and my pets (a cat and a dog) flocked to her like Snow White...they just love her. She is easy to work with, loves animals, and is wonderful with them. She does both pet sitting as well as dog walking - and she's as great with my old cat as my puppy. The thing that impressed me most was her approach to my puppy, Maggie, who has cancer. Sometimes she has a bad odor by her cancer area, or has bad days, but Courtney is wonderful with her...and so positive. They have fun, go for walks, etc. It's really great to see. Anyway, if you need a pet sitter or dog walking in Lancaster or Lititz, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ducey Dog Walking.
