If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Let's start with the fact that I had Connie, an older technician. I originally came in for a pedicure and a full set, but I ended up not getting the full set I'll explain why. When I sat down, I was never asked if I wanted a drink, while other white customers around me were. I was also not given a menu to choose the type of pedicure I wanted. That immediately rubbed me the wrong way treat everyone the same. I asked for square nails and told her multiple times not to round them, yet she continued to do so anyway. I requested French toes with a soft pink base and black tips, but she acted like she couldn't find the colors. At that point, I told her to just do solid black to keep it moving. When we went to her nail station, I showed her the reference for the full set pink acrylic with a black French tip. She tried to tell me it wasn't possible and claimed she only had gel polish. I had to pull up a TikTok and show her, and suddenly she understood exactly what I meant. By then, I already knew my nails were about to be messed up, so I told her to just do a manicure instead. I paid over $100, and my polish is already peeling off. On top of that, the tools do not appear to be properly disinfected, which is unacceptable. I am a board-certified esthetician, and this experience was extremely unprofessional. Connie was careless, and this salon overall was a huge disappointment. I will not be returning. Today, June 27th, 2026, I called over the phone and asked how much a medium length, GelX manicure with a French tip would be and they told me $90, so I made an appointment. When I get into the salon, I told them I was the one who called about the medium length, GelX French manicure and they had me sit down. Maika began my appointment and it started off fine. She then brings out the box of the plastic nails in the medium length to glue onto my nails which was what I asked for. Then we get to the part when I choose the shade of pink for my nails. I told her I wanted a pink as close to the color of my natural nails as possible. She brings over one and it is WAY too light, it was almost white. I then asked if I could have a warmer and darker pink to match my natural nails and she returned with a pink that's barely darker than the other one. I assumed this was the only one they had so I let her continue the service. She then receives a phone call and started to talk on the phone with an AirPod in. After she finished curing the pink portion, she starts to draw the white line for the French. She asks me if I wanted it thick or thin and I said in the middle. Maika then draws an extremely thin line on my nails, so I ask if she can draw it thicker, she then wipes it off and draws a second thin line. She asks me what I think and then loudly says "thicker right?!" I was caught off guard with her loud question so I ask if I can show her a photo of the thickness I want. I show her a picture and she finally draws it thicker. After everything is cured and I go to the front to pay, they tell me it's going to be $105. I told them I called over the phone and asked what the price would be and they said $90. Maika then has another lady come to the front. The other lady tells me the price is higher because I got the long length. I tell her that Maika used the box of nails labeled medium length. The other lady then tells me that my nails are long not medium. So I ask her why they used the medium length box. She then lowers the price to $95 which is still more than I was expecting to pay. The lighting was really poor in the salon and when I get outside, I notice that one of my nails is smudged. I will not be going back to this salon and I hope they will contact me to make this right. read more

I went only once and was shocked when i was kicked out for asking the nail tech to wash her hands after she was eating with them, before doing my nails. when I called and spoke to the owner Tina she didnt care at all. I would not recommend. Immediately when I sat down I was not relaxed and felt uncomfortable there. I had barely started looking at the nail colors when my nail technician started pressuring me to start my pedicure. The whole service was rushed and sloppy. I brought my sister with me for her birthday and it appeared that our nail technicians were in some race to make sure we finished at the same time. I noticed that they skipped certain steps and generally did the mani pedi very carelessly. The pedicure was subpar at best and after we got home, my sister's pedicure had already chipped. Additionally, the manager was very rude and aggressive. My sister tried to make an adjustment to her manicure and the manager (plus other staff) yelled at her to the point of her crying. I do not get my nails done often but when I do I go to Eastern Market Nails. I recently had a cucumber pedicure done before a trip. The technician was amazing. After two weeks my toenails are still fresh. I had a pedicure a few months ago which was great but the gel manicure today was very disappointing. To start, the nail tech just started filing she didn't ask what shape I wanted and took way too much off my nails. This place definitely thins out their polishes (I guess to make the bottle last longer?) because I tried 3 different dark purples that were all nearly translucent when applied to my nail. After finally finding a bottle that had some pigment, the nail tech flooded my cuticles and didn't apply the polish evenly. Now my nails have weird lumps on the sides which I didn't notice until I got home. A gel mani is $40 which is inexpensive for a gel mani, but I wouldn't come back here again. read more

I had my nails done here over a week and a half ago after I broke two nails picking up my luggage. Since then I've been on 4 different flights to 3 different cities, and yesterday I did an entire Habitat for Humanity build. I called eastern market nails for last minute appointment. Even though I didn't have enough time to get a pedicure and a manicure, they accommodated me by doing both at once!! Great customer service!! I will be honest - whole the pedicure was lovely, the manicure did not look great. I picked a more translucent polish and the end result was uneven and blotchy. There wasn't time to re-do it, but I went back the next day and Vy was (again!) extremely accommodating. She took off the polish and re-did my manicure free of charge (I picked a different color which also helped.) This review is long overdue but life happened and I'm finally getting around to posting. I came in as a walk-in one Sunday afternoon a few months ago and Celine did an amazing job. This is CnC dip powder (sadly I don't remember the exact color) and I got tips since my nails were short. They lasted a solid 3-4 weeks (probably closer to 4 weeks to be honest) and they were in perfect condition. Will be back! read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Run. Save yourself. Do not go here. You leave more stressed than before. The treatment here is horrendous. It's like the salon's on a speed race to get you and out as fast as possible, nothing else. I had the audacity (!?) to ask for my nails to be filed shorter, bc they were uneven. The response was an angry, annoyed, if you don't like your nails, fine, I'll stop now. But you can't keep interrupting me with nitpicking. Threw down all the tools. And asked, are you happy now? Being new to Capitol Hill, I was looking for a new nail salon. I've gone to Eastern Market Nails about five times over the past seven months, to mixed results. This afternoon's experience, however, is probably the last. The good: It's near the metro, so it's very convenient after coming from work, or after doing some errands. It's a pretty good ambiance inside, and they offer you a complimentary drink (wine, juice, water) when you get your mani and/or pedi, or any other services. I say that with the caveat that depending on who's working with you, they may or may not offer it. Vivian is really nice, and helped me find the right shade for my mani. She was very professional and I should have just stuck making appointments with her instead of walking in. Prices are also decent. The bad: There have been two times that I've left with my fingers having bled at some point during a gel mani. Apparently my hands are dry? Odd because I've definitely gone to many nail salons and have not experienced the bleeding. I'd just say they were just not as careful. The woman who worked with me today on a color gel polish (read: gel without manicure) and pedicure was rude. Although the pedicure looked great, she kept trying to call someone on her cellphone the entire time she did my gel. Granted, if she needed to go and talk to someone, I would have been perfectly fine with her excusing herself to make the call. But she was distracted, and each time my hand was on the machine to dry, she kept tinkering with her cellphone, even accepting a call at one point as I had my hand out there waiting for her. She kept smudging the color on my nails. At one point she couldn't fix the smudge and instead CLIPPED the skin on my finger. I guess that was an easy way to remove the polish off my skin? THEY HAVE TO DO BETTER! I went on a Sunday around 5. I called before I went and they told me that they didn't have any availability until 5:45. When I walked in, there was confusion about me needing to make an appointment but the owner fit my sister and I in. I have been a customer at Eastern Market nails before and had an amazing experience. I went today for a dip manicure and chose an emerald green color. After he had applied the color, I spoke up and said it was way too dark - reflecting more of a black. Not at all suitable for the wedding I was getting my nails done for. I was told it'll "get lighter." Felt uneasy but said ok and at the end - it lightened barely at all. I spoke up again and asked to see the color swab to compare. Told "sometimes it's off." my SNS dipped nails barely lasted 2 weeks before the top coat began chipping and having discoloration, even though anywhere else they last for 4. When I went back to try to get the top coat replaced they said they would have to CHARGE me for an entire new set. Used to have a great experience with this salon before they moved into this location, but since they have moved (and probably since the pandemic), they have lost the really good staff. The first question is always 'do you have an appointment' if your chairs are all empty why are you requiring an appointment?! They do not want business! Very welcoming. Our first time here, my friend and I were walk-ins and only had to wait 10 minutes max for someone to be able to start our manicure and pedicure. The staff is very friendly and the lady giving me my manicure paid a lot of attention to cleaning up my cuticles which I don't see people do a lot. It is hard to pick the color you want since the polishes don't seem too organized which meant I didn't get the specific color that I wanted but what I ended up with wasn't too bad. The polish job was iffy. It was rushed and parts of my nail weren't painted or needed an extra layer and I wasn't able to look at them mid way through to say if I wanted any adjustments before I got asked to leave the chair. I would say make sure your nails are painted to your standards before you let them finish. Mine ended up getting on my cuticle and started peeling within 2 days which is sad. I was also marketed two other services (brows and pedicure) which made me feel like they just want me to spend more money. I get that they are a business and want to make money but I did not like being told to come back and get my eyebrows done as if they were in bad shape or something. They take Venmo which is very nice and they don't randomly add extra money at checkout meaning the price you see is what you pay. I loved that since I have had to pay 5-10 dollars more than what they promote at some other places. Overall I would recommend this place if you want a quick and fairly priced manicure or pedicure but I not sure if I would come back to get a fancier set of nails done. read more

I have been going to this nail salon for quite sometime but yesterday I had one of the worst nail experiences I have ever had. During both my manicure and pedicure the nail tech was extremely rough, rushed and not cautious with tools...I must have yelped "ouch" 10 times between the two. My gel manicure was absolutely terrible, everything from polish on the skin, nails were not shaped the same and all in all just incredibly sloppy. I even had asked her to fix a nail that wasn't completely polished after she was done. The manicure was so bad that I had to go around the corner to another salon and get it redone. 4.5 stars Pros Located right across from Eastern Market, EMNails is a clean, professional, reasonably priced nail salon on the Hill. Classic manicure is $16 + tip, $30 for classic pedicure. $44 for combo manipedi. Good selection of polish colors, all OPI, and they sell them if you want to touch up at home. Also, I primarily get a manicure once in a while in order to get my cuticles all trimmed (something I'm too scared to do at home). Once pushing the cuticles down doesn't work and I need professional help, I head to the salon (about 3-4x a year in DC, but I was monthly in LA). EMN has always done a thorough job of trimming my cuticles without hurting them, and shaping my nails nicely for that little extra oomph during special occasions. Cons So why not five stars? They're not the best at keeping on schedule at this place, even with an appointment. Luckily there is a waiting area with plenty of magazines to choose from. Just be flexible with your dinner plans you plan for afterwards. Also, they do take credit card, but tip is in cash only. read more
