a variety of sushi and rolls

I love coming here for sushi. I usually order take out because the restaurant itself is small, but the menu is extensive. I usually get a bento box with sushi and chicken teriyaki and it's always delicious. but there's so many great things on the menu to try and everyone who works here is super friendly and helpful. Delicious good that's definitely worth the try!

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. The sushi is reasonably priced and affordable for quality sushi. I came here on a Wednesday at 3:00 and just missed their lunch specials. We were the only ones there and there was a one waitress. But she was very attentive to us. I would definitely recommend this place to others! Quality sushi, affordable prices. Cute, little hole in the wall.

Excellent first time dining experience. Came in around 1:30pm on a Wednesday. We were seated almost immediately with a decent amount of traffic either dining in or picking up. Garden salad with ginger dressing was delicious and well portioned. Ordered three regular rolls which came with that garden salad. Chicken Udon Soup was decently portioned, very flavorful, and everything you would expect. Would highly recommend for a good sushi or udon fix. We will definitely be returning.

This place has well-priced lunch specials for $9, but it's definitely not my favorite sushi spot. I usually get the Shrimp Tempura Roll with Miso Soup and a Salad, and I definitely leave feeling full. The quality is just always a little eh to me. They also don't have Wonton Soup, which is always a bummer. As for interior, the place is rather small and can get packed during lunch. I recommend going with a small group, otherwise, get take-out. Again, go here if you don't have much time and need something decent.

    What the hell is this?!?!?

WTF!!!! I asked for spicy crab roll and it had a crunchy filling with sprinkles of imitation crab!!! Are you serious?!? What the heck is that?!? Get it together!! If the spicy crab roll is being skimped on, can you imagine how they're skimping on the quality of the raw fish? Fortunately, for me, I don't live in this town so I don't have to eat this crap again!!! Get that $h!t together!!

Tropical roll, crazy man, and the 3 roll combo. All "spicy" rolls had fried crunchies mixed into the mixture.

I go all the time and have my usual favorites and have never had a problem. The last time i went in was during the daytime and i was sat where i had a view of the fancy sushi chefs out front chopping sushi. To start off, the place reeked. dont know what was going on but it was awful. Then, one of the sushi chefs must have been sick or something because he was coughing and SNEEZING fully onto the food he was working on without covering his mouth or turning away or anything. He then went on to do this a few more times and wipe his face with the gloves that are supposed to keep the food sanitary. If the chef that is visible to the customers right out front is visibly sneezing into the food thats being sent out and NONE of the other workers care?! then i dont even want to know whats going on in the back kitchen. I work at a little ice cream store and we are 1000% more careful and hygienic than this place and we don't even cook food. Absolutely disgusting. Don't know if I can go back

The bar honestly wasn't high, but this was probably the best dining experience I've had in Keyport,…read moreor close to it. I came here this past Saturday for an early dinner with the Millennial Chum and Co. I've driven or walked by this place a bunch of times, and I've always liked the exterior - it reminds me of an NYC Irish bar, if that makes sense. Not what I'd expect from a sushi establishment. I will say as a caveat that it IS smaller inside than I expected; it's basically one narrow corridor, so as a result it doesn't really have an opportunity to flex its interior design muscles too much. Not really a negative per se, and not something I think they can really do much about unless they move somewhere else with more square footage to play around with. I was a little apprehensive when I looked at the menu and saw they were boasting multiple Asian genres, including the aforementioned sushi but also some Thai, Chinese and Korean. (No, I didn't realize it was Asian fusion, which would have immediately explained this.) In my experience, having TOO varied of a menu can blow up in a restaurant's face, but regardless I came to try the sushi and went right to the special rolls. I opted for the Lover Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was okay for the most part - this was on me, but I didn't realize it had jalapeno in it, which is clearly referenced in the menu. I don't mind it from a taste perspective, but I hate the crunchy texture in a sushi roll (same with cucumber, which is a sushi dealbreaker for me). It was very easy to remove, and otherwise a perfectly fine roll. I think presentation value-wise it could use something since it basically looks like a pile of sawdust with the lobster salad on top, but it didn't diminish the taste. The Lover is excellent, and I wasn't too surprised to catch multiple sightings of it on other plates as we were walking out. The optics on that one were very unique, a bifurcated heart shape with a heavy dose of predictable pinks and reds. I hadn't really thought about it until now, but my sushi taste tends to go pretty savory with an emphasis on spicy tunas and wasabi mayo, that kind of thing. This is definitely on the sweeter side, which I'm assuming is primarily because of the honey. Regardless, it pairs really well with the rest of the ingredients. One of the better new sushi rolls I've tried recently, and it doesn't seem like I'm in the minority on that one. The service was very good; the Millennial Chum has been here before and said she'd had some issues on prior visits. Thankfully not a problem on this particular adventure - everyone had plans later in the evening and we were able to get in and out of here pretty quickly, probably within 40, 45 minutes or so. The price point wasn't bad either. Admittedly I'm used to being gauged on the regular in Midtown Manhattan, but special rolls being around $15 are a treat in and of itself. I'm not going to say that this is mouth-droppingly amazing sushi, but I think you have to grade on a slight curve in this area - Monmouth is pretty much a barren wasteland when it comes to its gastro offerings so when you find something decent, it's worth noting. Nemo is worth noting.
