We have been getting take out from this gem for the past few months because of COVID and they have been consistent and fresh every time. The staff is great and very patient as well. Some of our favorites is the Akuma Roll and Olga roll. The eel sashimi is always cooked well and the scallop sashimi is delicious and the presentation is always pretty . I think this may be my new favorite sushi place. It's hard to find good, fresh sushi in the Freehold area, surprisingly. We ordered the sushi party plate B, which was more than enough for 2 people. First time here. This place was recommended to me by a friend and we decided to eat here for lunch. We ordered several special rolls and shared everything. The rolls came out quickly and looked so pretty. Everything tasted fantastic and fresh. I loved the presentation on the plate and the sauces on top of the rolls. We enjoyed it all. Our neighbors ate some bento boxes and they looked great as well. We will definitely be back to try some other their other items. What a wonderful Japanese dinner. I was craving sushi, found the reviews here on Yelp and gave it a try! Thanks fellow Yelpers! I really loved this place. My husband and I ordered the Beef Negimaki Bento box and it was delish. It was also huge with tons of food for only $15. It is a small restaurant but it was clean and felt welcoming. On top of that, the food was delicious. Every dish that we ordered were really good. Ordered food from here on recommendation of a friend. So glad I did. Coworkers n I enjoyed an absolute delicious lunch. Sushi was fresh and delivery was soooooo quick. The order was perfect. A little higher on price but worth it. We were total happy campers. So now that will be our go to sushi delivery place for sushi when the craving hits. Excellent. It's not a big spot, however we were seated immediately because it was not a busy Friday night, and were notified by the very friendly staff that there would be a 40-50 minute wait for the sushi. The wait was suitable, and a couple bottles of wine cushioned the anticipation, however when you're hungry, nearly 40-50 minutes felt like a lifetime. :) Reason: There were several sushi chefs on staff, who split the orders between takeout, which seemed endless and vastly more than the dining room orders. Sakura is a fine neighborhood "Japanese" option. I place the word in quotes because few sushi restaurants in New Jersey are actually Japanese owned and there is a huge difference. Japanese sushi is refined, artful, and disciplined. You won't find mango, cream cheese, and fried maki rolls, rather you might be introduced to a grand omakase - putting you at the hands of the sushi chef. Suffice to say, my sushi standards are incredibly high. The 3 stars I gave is suggestive that this is a perfectly fine establishment and will appeal to most sushi palates in the area. If one wants to enjoy a true Japanese sushi experience they should try sushi by Kazuhiro in freehold or travel to Bergen county or NYC. read more

Ordered take out here for lunch with my co-workers. Although we had a large order with substitutions and extra sauces, they were able to deliver our food without any mistakes within a half an hour. The Pepper Tuna roll came in eight smaller pieces. The tuna was peppered generously; the spicy mayo on top was lost amidst the overbearing pepper, but might have helped cut the sharpness of flavor. The Vegetable roll was relatively tasteless in comparison, but the complimentary wasabi helped add some flavor. In all, each roll was prepared and cooked all right. Sakura sushi is awesome! They updated the specials menu and they make Sushi burritos now (they are like a big handroll in the shape of a burrito and loaded with deliciousness). First things first: Ambiance: the place has a nice look with the hard wood floors stone covered pillars with the sushi bar in the back. I just feel like the placement of the booths and the tables could be better, just kinda lacks a good flow. And I'm no expert but the feng shui was a bit off. Service: quick, friendly, and asked our table if we needed anything just enough. All that really matters to me really! 20% tip Food: the sushi was very fresh and plated very nicely. I got the Sushi deluxe (replaced the tuna roll with a salmon roll and I went with the salad) and my girlfriend got the Shrimp tempura Burrito and a handroll. We shared the salad which had that fresh ginger dressing. Didn't have too many other veggies in it mostly just the Greens but it was enough. With a side of low sodium soy sauce and (forgive me) some spicy Mayo the sushi was great. Got a combination of Tuna, white tuna, yellowtail and salmon. My only complaint was that it wasn't made in the traditional fashion with wasabi underneath the fish so I added it myself. All in all it was fresh and full of flavor. My girlfriend loved her food. It's better than that sushiritto place down in Brick, NJ. the ingredients are just more fresh and the rice is made better.
