First time dining at Ganga. While the wait staff were very friendly, the service was brutally slow last night. Beverages and appetizers were brought out in a timely manner, but the main courses took incredibly long. After waiting for quite some time, I asked my server if she could provide an ETA for our main courses. She explained that there was only one chef in the kitchen, hence the delay. While she was extremely nice, I would have expected her to proactively let us know why there was a delay without me having to flag her down. Once the food came out it was good. Given the amount of time we had to wait, I would have thought that they should at least offer up a desert on the house as a good business practice. Did not happen. The servers did apologize for the wait, but not sure if we will be returning. read more

This is definitely one of the better Japanese / sushi restaurants I've come across in Jersey, with high quality ingredients and a fusion of different Asian flavors. Specialty rolls were in large portions, with the perfect amount of rice/fish ratio. You will find some out of the box flavors, such as the sushi roll featuring shrimp tempura, banana, and fig. Doesn't sound like a traditional sushi combination, but it somehow works! The bento boxes here seem to be the best value for dinner, providing a taste of everything (and giving you the ability to have a sushi roll with cooked food). This is also the only restaurant I've come across that gives a spicy tuna roll as part of the bento meal, while many other sushi spots opt for something cheaper like a California roll. Service was great & the restaurant has a great atmosphere, fun for grabbing some drinks with friends on the weekend. This restaurant is on the pricier side, but being that it's hard to find quality sushi in NJ I understand why. Will definitely have to try the rest of the menu! read more

Wasn't expecting to be seated right away on Saturday evening, the place was buzzing! The entrance was crowded with parties waiting to be seated and we were lucky. Started with a black and pink roll as an appetizer and for a first time sushi goer it was a hit! Tempur shrimp, fresh crab meat and a light strawberry sauce topped the hefty roll. I ordered a bento box to enjoy a variety of favorites while my partner opted for the filet hibachi. Sesame chicken tasted more like orange chicken but it was enjoyable regardless. Service was quick. The server made sure to get our order in promptly, drinks and water made their way shortly after and he checked in on you without missing a beat. Service was so fast that they did not notice bringing out chipped plates which is a huge no for me. The party next to us had the same fate. I have gone here many times. Usually we love it. However, tonight was a absolute mess. First.... we were rush. We sat down at 6:30 and ordered by 6:40. The apps we ordered came out in less than 5 mins. Ok... so far. The apps were good to bad. A spicy tuna roll was standard and my kids love the indian pancake. The Calarmari is kinda gross. The rings are too perfect round - like one of those onion rings from burger king - turned me off. Meanwhile just as we finish most of the apps, they bring the soups. Probably the only thing I loved about dinner tonight. We had the soup for like 2 minutes and out comes our entrees. I told them we are still having our soup and they can take them back. They complained it will get cold - I told them they can remake them then. So, as soon as we finish the soup, they notice and bring out the entrees again. I had the black pepper filet mignon. My dish was cold, dry and the wasabi mashed potatoes was so soaked in the very weird tasting black pepper sauce they were just gross (tasted more like tropical fruit than anything else), yet almost none on the filet. My MIL's hibachi dinner was cold and dry. My dughters sesame chicken was DRY. My other daughters dish, clay pot beef, was good, probably the best of the table. My wife's fish was ok. Yet, by the time we finished and paid the check and left, we were there for just under an hour (for 3 courses). Just very unhappy with everything. It is out of the way and expensive, so I will not return for at least a year, if at all. read more

Easily my favorite sushi / Asian fusion spot around. I come here often for both the great service and amazing food. Place looks fantastic and every plate is always plated wonderfully. Looks so extra yet so cool! The food is just next level amazing. By now I have tried most of the sushi rolls and appetizers, and so far I have never been disappointed. The Tom Kha Gai soup is my favorite and the seaweed is always fresh. The rolls, anything from the crafted section is good, but the lobster rock and roll is the king of sushi. Is just next level good and it comes accompanied by some tempura lobster on the side. The Hitachino white ale beer is delicious, and pairs up nicely with the food. My favorite is the jasmine tea lager, but they currently don't have that one in stock (hopefully it'll be back soon!). The green tea tempura ice cream was a very pleasant surprise, I can't recommend it enough. I will keep adding picture as I come back, I am here often :) read more

First of all, the reviews saying negative things on the staff are completely wrong. The staff was amazing. The food was also utterly delicious and mouth watering. I was feeling basic so I ordered the salmon avocado and salmon sashimi, and the fish was fresh and rice was soft and the avocado was smooth. As for the ambiance, it was nice. Not too loud, nice music, and calm. The atmosphere is nice too. I get a cool vibe from it and it was a perfect temperature. The fact I got seated in under a minute was good, considering it was a Saturday afternoon, and the food came out well, it was easy to order, price is great, staff was kind and even went over our orders and thoroughly made sure about the food. The sushi here was so refreshing because you don't really find fresh and good quality sushi at most spots. You can immediately taste the difference of the fish at Ganga vs. a regular spot. They also offer happy hours at certain times so be sure to take advantage of that! I do recommend to try one of their special rolls -- be warned that these can be VERY filling although they are quite pricey, definitely worth it! I got two basic rolls, eel avocado and spicy salmon. For the special roll, I got the Foxy Lady. The rolls were simply made with love and my played looked absolutely cute. I will be back to try their other rolls whenever I am in the area. It was my second time in this establishment last night (March 11) and I loved it. Even though it was a Monday the restaurant was pretty busy. Yet it still was not a problem for four of us to have table there. Service was fast and quick. Servers were helpful and friendly. Food was quite delicious, and my dad (who is an extreme picky eater) was suffused to a brim 3 of us, we had 4 special rolls and my dad had beef that reminded of fajitas, and it's was all delicious. Also this restaurant has full bar, which is a bit unusual for an Asian restaurant. (We had none for other reasons) but drinks on the tables around us looked delicious too. We had no dessert (had a freshly made cake at home) so could have anything there. Yet overall it's a great spot for a date, family outing and just casual dinner with friends or family. Who puts thumbs up and clap their hands when customer is dissatisfied and says they do not feel comfortable coming back because the restaurant do not allow bringing their own water for their kids? That's exactly what the waitress did by clapping her hands and putting thumbs up by not just disrespecting the customer but making them feel terrible. I cannot influence anyone going in or not but I cannot keep quite when someone disrespects them in front of their own family. We just walked out and never going back. I really hope this place shuts down knowing how worst they make you feel. I hope you have good luck going but if you end up at bad end of the stick, do not cry for not warning you. After our last visit to this restaurant this spot has definitely moved to our #1 favorite place to get sushi. We have been here several times, always for lunch and have mostly eaten their standard traditional rolls on their special lunch menu which were excellent. However, went for dinner on our last visit to try some of their signature rolls and oh boy, they were amazing. After ordering one of their signature cocktails and some warm sake, both very good, we started off with a couple of apps. The Salmon Martini, finely chopped salmon, cucumber, avocado, seaweed, tobiko, crunch infused with spicy aioli and served in a martini glass shaped dish was not only unique but very delicious. We also ordered the Crispy Grand Marnier Prawns served in a walnut & honey emulsion, suggested by our waiter Daniel and this was equally amazing. For our signature rolls, we went with three. The St. Patrick, also highly recommended by Daniel, spicy lobster, shrimp, crabmeat, cucumber, avocado, and roe wrapped in soybean nori - the Foxy Lady, salmon, yellowtail and avocado topped with spicy tuna and crunch with eel sauce - and the Tuna Amazing, white tuna tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, topped with pepper tuna and roe with mango sauce. All 3 of these rolls were some of the best I've tried anywhere and if I had to pick a favorite, I'd say the Foxy Lady wins. For good measure we added a couple of sushi eel pieces for my wife and these were also, you guessed it, delicious. The atmosphere here is simple, but very nice with a nice bar area, the service is excellent, especially from our waiter, Daniel who was friendly, helpful and attentive and this will definitely be our go to sushi spot from now on.
