I went to a wedding here - unbelievably beautiful. Great views and about as scenic as New England gets.

This review is for their on-site restaurant…read more I was lucky enough to be invited to Ferncroft Country Club for dinner Halloween Night. I never had the pleasure, so I jumped at the chance since my son is in college, and I don't seem to get a lot of trick-or-treaters in the city. Ferncroft is settled in what I would call a business-residential area, with beautiful homes, surroundings, and a stones throw away from Coco Key Resort. The road to get up to the main building was very dark, I am sure that is for a reason, but it was fitting for Halloween night I suppose. We pulled up and had our choice of spots. I figured there would be something going on but it seemed like just another night from the parking lot. When we entered, we were great with smiles and a roaring fire place. The smells from the kitchen already taking over my senses. I was in for a treat. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, helpful, and presented the specials well. Dinning room is small but that's okay because you can enjoy all the ambience it has to offer. After ordering a few drinks, my friend and I dove right in. Sliders and nachos to start and two mixed grilled plates for dinner. We finished that off with slices of Sweet Potato Maple cheesecake and Chocolate Fudge cake. Of course Sugerman had coffee as well. Appetizers 4 out 5 - The SLIDERS! I was advised by my friend we should order these. They didn't disappoint. Juicy, flavorful, and served with warm fries. You could even order this for your entree. The kid in you will love these, and so will the adult. The nachos were good. On par with most places but nothing special. Entrees 5 out 5 - Now I know we both ordered the mixed grill, but we both had the same feelings. The sausage was grilled to perfection, the chicken was super flavorful, and the steak tips melted in my mouth. Choose a side and you can't go wrong. And for the price, about $15 a plate, we were completely satisfied. Desserts 5 out 5 - My buddy was in a chocolate coma. The cake was rich and moist. The only problem with my Sweet Potato Maple cheesecake is I couldn't slow myself down to enjoy it longer. The house coffee was excellent, which I would "roast" them for (pun intended) for not caring about the little things. It was a perfect way to end the meal. Service 4 out 5 - Most of all the staff was warm and friendly, and out waitress certainly was. Plates were cleared and new silverware placed promptly. So if you ever get the opportunity to eat here with a member, cancel your plans and go early to view the local colors and scenery.

All Souls Lounge in Salem was the perfect sanctuary. It's a small, intimate spot that fills up fast, if you don't get there early, you'll be left haunting the sidewalk waiting for a table. Luckily, they offer outdoor seating, which was great for cooling off after spending two hours surrounded by ceremonial candles. The service was remarkably fast for a packed house. The cocktails were delicious and flavorful, though if you're looking to banish your inner demons in one sip, note that they aren't the absolute strongest in town. What really stole the show, however, was the food menu: they have a massive selection of gourmet grilled cheeses and hot dogs. Speaking of which: after finishing my meal, I went home inspired to attempt another quick ritual. I was trying to summon an ancient Hot Dog Spirit to bless my midnight snack cravings, but I mangled the Latin incantation and accidentally conjured a Grilled Cheese Ghost instead. Now my apartment smells like toasted sourdough, and there is a glowing ectoplasmic slice of melted cheddar hovering over my couch. Overall, a fantastic spot to refuel whether you're a local, a tourist, or just an exhausted practitioner of the dark arts. Highly recommend!

Over the next 20 minutes (without service or even a "come to the bar to order even though you're sitting at a table") we watched as three more couples walked in, met by the bartender (who passed by us to accomplish ) brought to a table, and then served. When the second bartender came out from around the bar, we perked up, only to find them addressing yet another couple that arrived after us. We got zero drinks, we got zero acknowledgment. For a bar that says "all souls welcome", we certainly did not feel it.

They wouldn't allow me to elevate my feet for medical reasons on a chair because common sense did not prevail. A volunteer upstairs allowed me to elevate legs and a young woman Deseree attempted to pull chair out from underneath me when I said I need a minute as I had bilateral knee replacements as well. There are just so many good things to say about this place that I'm not sure where to start…read more First, it is not a "shelter" in the typical sense of the word, and the staff and guests do not refer to it as a "shelter". They consider themselves a "community", and act as such. There are NO lines for anything at the WLP. The women are served their meals at their tables by volunteers, and their materials are bussed for them once they are done, unless they choose to self-bus. The food. Oh heavens! WLP prides itself on serving nourishing, FRESH food. Each meal will have all nutritional requirements met, and there is always a veggie option. We're not talking canned goods or sandwiches here, folks. No, this is chopped and diced fresh veggies, prime cut meats, the finest ingredients. If you're a good cook and after you've volunteered a few times, they are happy to let you get in the kitchen and help whip up stuff. The resident chef there, Gina, is wonderfully creative in the kitchen (and very nice), and from time to time, other professional chefs from local restaurants come in to put together a meal. The WLP isn't jsut a food place, although that's the highlight of the day. It also provides the women with full time advocacy support to help with finding housing, food, or other services. There is a computer room/resource room that the ladies may use. There is also a nap room where women can go to get sometimes some much needed rest, and also a quiet room for just some peace, solitude, and maybe reading or reflecting. Women are also able to get various toiletries and clothing that they may need. They may do their laundry and take showers. The Program Manager, Heather (also very, very nice and competent) has done a great job of making sure that there are interesting activities for guests if they choose to participate: yoga, painting, field trips, knitting, etc. Since the WLP is run as a "community", the staff are INCREDIBLY patient with the women, and if a guest is being disorderly or breaking a rule, she is not immediately tossed out, but is counseled and given more than one opportunity to redeem herself by correcting her behavior. Throwing someone out is a last option at the WLP. WLP treats its volunteers as the valuable commodity we are. We are appreciated, thanked, and made to feel a part of the "team". Added Perk: They also have really incredible volunteer thank you events! I enjoy volunteering here. I learn something new and meet new people each time I go. I don't have a lot of spare time to volunteer, but when I do, the WLP gets me all the time, every time. It's important to know that this place could not be so great without us- the community at large supporting it through donations, volunteering, contributions, etc. The staff, Regina, Linda, Joanna, Lauren, Linnie, and Cheryl are terrific- go meet them! This is just a wonderful, wonderful place. You will not leave here without your heart being touched in some way.
