This place is super easy (for me) to get to its right at Columbus circle & their they are not crowded with people in the waiting area which I appreciate. Crystal is super cool and she takes time to figure out what's going on with you. I only ever go in for sinus issues but lately I've had some weird toe issue (no clue) but she totally helped relieve the pain for a good week. She's also able to really knock out neck pain I get from all the sinus issues. (I'm clearly a hot mess). She's very relaxed and she has a very peaceful energy about her. Paul is also super cool. He kind of reminds me of POE from king fu panda. He's not what you expect at first but after some good training and time spent studying the art, he's actually an acupuncture master. He comes in and he's super friendly and listens to what you have to say but you're thinking there's no way this guy knows the ancient Chinese medicines and healings! WRONG he's so good! I've always been fascinated by Acupuncture and its numerous benefits and have incorporated it in my life for years now. I especially love how it helps improve my sleep and addresses the occasional insomnia (or mind just being restless resulting in being unable to sleep), improves metabolism and weight loss support, gets rid of the occasional colds and allergies, and generally improves my well being. I took advantage of it and just completed my 3 sessions yesterday and actually coming back again to continue it next Saturday. I love the location, couldn't be more perfect. They're located just right across the Columbus Circle station, beside a Starbucks and right across the Mandarin Oriental hotel. It's pretty no-frills but maintained well and has 3-4 private treatment rooms, which means you're actually getting some privacy for a good hour or so. I also especially like Carly who since day 1 has been kind, professional, and caring. Even just after one session with her, I immediately felt the difference. I slept like a baby and just generally felt better overall. Each session I actually felt so much difference, that's why I intend to continue and just maintain my overall health and well-being in top condition. I liked this place so much that on my 3rd session, I brought my husband and introduced him to acupuncture. Suffice to say, he slept like a baby the first night and said that the back pain and muscular pain he was complaining about from his workouts were actually gone right away and our workouts today were better too. I broke my hand in August 2010. When it happened, I didn't realize it was broken but I was definitely in pain. Paul treated me with herbs mixed with vaseline, and voila - almost no pain (it did hurt when I put pressure on it) and much less swelling. When I went to my doctor to get checked out, he didn't think it was broken because it wasn't that swollen but did an X-Ray just to be safe. Turned out I had a spiral fracture, which he said should normally have left my hand super swollen and throbbing in pain, but because of those herbs I didn't feel much pain at all and I was able to sleep comfortably at night. I didn't even need to take any aspirin, ibuprofen or any other painkiller. I HIGHLY recommend seeing these guys if you're having any sort of pain issue or if you just want to give Acupuncture a shot. I have been going to acupuncturists regularly for nearly my entire life. Every acupuncturist has their own style (the art) to their practice (the science). I've been seeing the absolute best acupuncturist (see other review) but she's on maternity leave and she recommended Eastgate. I quickly made an appt with Paul. I was able to have a session with the $50 Groupon deal. That's almost too painfully reasonable for acupuncture in Columbus Circle I thought. But then I realized why. Overall, the location is very convenient for the west side or downtown. The facilities are a stark contrast from the Mandarin Oriental across the street so don't expect luxury to fill the east gate. I'm certain that Paul is extremely skilled and capable. He teaches clinical acupuncture. But definitely a particular bed side manner that may not be for everyone. And being good means busy. You'll get put in a room and the heat lamp and beep! the timer will go on... This is probably not the practice for you if you're expecting to be the only person there or you're hoping for a luxurious room. Probably also not the practice for you if you want in-depth TCM accompaniment with your treatment like a bag of herbs or soup recipes. Many acupuncturists I've been to before will give you a tonic or soup immediately after treatment and or give you a recipe to make at home. Overall, I was very appreciative that they accommodated my tardiness thanks to the subway. But I am disappointed that said they would reach out to confirm their availability on Sundays but did not. I have never left a review on any service before but I am just so ticked off by the way that I was treated by the staff there that I got home and I'm going to tell everyone that I can that this place is just the worst. I booked my appointment two weeks in advance because that was how far I needed to find a slot that fit my schedule. I show up for my appointment on time. I was told that they couldn't find me in the system and that it must have been a mistake and that I should wait 10 mins to be seen. Nearly an hour goes by in which multiple people who arrived after me and had appointments after me were seen, I'm told that I'll be seen once everyone else is seen. They then insisted that I didn't have an appointment and it was my fault. Yes, I'm going to show up to an acupuncture appointment for the first time on a whim and just hope that they'll see me if I lie about having an appointment? The more reasonable scenario is that I made the appointment and whoever was working the counter didn't put me in the system. I get that an error is made but to make me wait and then tell me that in fact I wont be seen is simply unacceptable and just shows that they don't care about their customers' time. read more

I've been to several acupuncturists, but no one comes close to Crystal and Paul. They know me and my health concerns very well, and tailor each week's appointment to how I'm feeling at that time. Crystal sometimes incorporates cupping and massage into a session, and there are times when I wish I didn't have to leave. I sleep better and feel better after I've had a treatment. He identified some specific muscles that were contributing to tennis elbow, and after three sessions, it had improved enormously.
