It is unfortunate to have to leave this review because graduation should be a positive and memorable experience for families. However, after attending our son's graduation last night, we left extremely concerned about the environment and overall organization of the event. When we arrived, we attempted to find seating in the bleachers as two parents simply hoping to watch our last child graduate from high school. Despite arriving hours before, we could not find even 2 seats together because large sections were being "saved" by individuals holding dozens of seats for extended family members who had not yet arrived and many never did. Leaving empty seats. Such a shame. This created unnecessary tension throughout the stands and contributed to an environment that grew increasingly hostile as the event approached. We personally witnessed, and were victims of, verbal confrontations, aggressive behavior, and foul language exchanged between attendees over seating disputes. What should have been a meaningful celebration instead became stressful and uncomfortable for many families. The poor behavior of these "adults" is on them, but the root cause is on RMHS. The presence of significant security and police staffing made it clear that the school anticipated potential problems. That alone should signal the need for a better preventative approach rather than relying primarily on security to respond "after" tensions escalate. Most of the other large schools have implemented systems that reduce conflict and improve safety, and RMHS should strongly consider similar measures. Possible solutions could include: * Reserved or ticketed seating for "immediate" family * Clearly designated overflow seating for extended family and guests * Policies limiting or eliminating large-scale seat saving No parent should struggle to find 2 seats to watch their child graduate because of avoidable crowd management issues. The good news is there is time to improve this before the class of 2027 takes the field. I sincerely hope RMHS takes the concerns raised by multiple families seriously and works proactively to create a safer, more organized, and more positive experience moving forward. You do not have the luxury to bury your head in the sand now. Change your mindset and be proactive instead of reactive. You, the administration, tout that safety of your RMHS community is a top priority, it's time to walk the walk.

At the time the head of the cosmetology department for EVIT was Lisa French. I can applaud her for keeping the rules consistent and holding regular meetings to address rules. She was never rude to the teachers, only stern and professional as it is her job to regulate the campuses to state board standards. She tried her best to have good relations with the students and the instructors. During my first year as a cosmetology student, I had Jaci Maron as my instructor. Everyone in my class loved her! Although, she could have been a bit better with directions and checking our work. Other than that she really cared about the students and was the only instructor that I knew of that advocated for us when we had complaints. Fast forward coming into EVIT as a second year cosmetology student still at the power campus. This is where things completely ruined my experience here. In my first semester I was happy to get Jaci Maron as my instructor again. Everything was going relatively fine until Lisa French resigned from her position. This left a new dean, Adam Malik. In addition, my instructor Jaci Maron also resigned from her position. This left our class with a new instructor Belizabeth Urena. As I am writing this,  Mrs. Urena is my current instructor. Everyone loves her. I think amongst the challenges this program has thrown our way, Ms. Urena has made this experience a lot better. She is very kind and relatable and truly cares for the students. Throughout my second semester rules started changing. These rules included, leaving early, hours, absences, break times, bathroom privacy, and many more that are more related to cosmetology regulations. I can elaborate on that more if anyone is reading this and wants to ask questions. As for the new dean Adam Malik, he started adding random rules out of nowhere. He is not affiliated with cosmetology so it was a bit shocking for the students to have to follow rules when he himself has not gone through cosmetology training. He is quite frankly aggressive with the students and the instructors. He is known for verbally abusing instructors, which is very unprofessional and hard to be around. Many if not all the cosmetology students do not feel comfortable around him. He does not respect the people around him or the students and if he does then he does a real bad job at showing it. All of the instructors are really supportive of their students. I have nothing bad to say as they have been very impactful in creating a solid base for our career. As for the program itself, I have learned everything I shouldn't. There is so much more that should have been added into the program. Especially for state board exams, it was hard to prepare for because we did not have the proper lessons throughout the year to fully grasp concepts. The program itself goes over pretty basic things, highlights, haircutting, color, men's haircuts, and some chemical services. I wish that there was more guidance on how to be successful in performing these services. They give us a demo and then get sent off to do it ourselves. We got minimal feedback on how to be better and without feedback we did not know what to do to be better. This review is getting pretty long so I will wrap things up even though there is a lot more I want to say. Will I recommend this program to aspiring cosmetologists? My honest answer would be no, but on the other hand, this program is one of the cheapest and easiest to afford. If you truly want to make a career as a cosmetologist, then go for it. But please consider what I said. It is not as glamorous as it seems and it takes a toll on people's mental health and it will drain you. If you want to go through with this program please just be patient and do what you can, you can do it! Thank you for reading my review!

I…read morecan't speak for all the programs, but I am very disappointed with the Cosmetology and Aesthetics vocational programs that are currently supported by with the state. It just feels like they have added teachers and classes due to demand, but the training is sub par and they don't even have enough classrooms to accommodate all the enrolled students. I wholeheartedly support vocational schools and charters, but in my opinion these programs are currently not providing the instruction or hands-on skills students will need to be successful in the areas my child/children were enrolled. I would look elsewhere and avoid them waiting 2 years only to have to enter a school that requires tuition in the end anyways. I also think it's luck of the draw with teachers. Some are better than others... Our 2025 experience was very poor and when your students are spending more time watching HULU, Netflix, and movies than receiving instruction I believe it's a waste of time. I also hear that the State of Arizona pays EVIT ~$8k per student and they get paid for the full year as long as the student is still enrolled on 9/30. They may be more apt to listen to your concerns and make it appear they are working to address concerns up until that date, but after that they really don't care because their received their funding for the year. My recommendation is do your own homework and talk to your students. There appear to be some good options out there and new schools popping up out there to address the need that don't come with a huge price tag that may be better for preparing learners to actually entering the workforce.

We've had positive experiences since our kids started here in the 2's and 3's on the preschool side. My 6 other nieces and nephews also attend this school and we've all had a great experience with SDP and SDA. This school has high rankings in academics but also has a wonderful team who all have your children's best interest at heart. Dr. Majeed, Miss Vernetta, all the teachers Miss Mickey, Miss Amber, Miss Haschke, Miss Oliver, Miss Jenn C., even all the front desk staff (Lonnie, Deena, Brittni), and especially the principal Jenn Salvatori have all been wonderful and helpful with our kids! There was recently an issue with another child was being very rude/disrespectful a couple of times and I reported it right away since my child was upset and crying. I'm happy to report that the resolution was swift. I was also kept updated about how it was being addressed both with the students and internally among their staff/teachers. SDA stresses the importance of the 4 R's Respect, Responsibility, Readiness, and Resiliency as well as academics with opportunities to advance. SDA was also very accommodating when we had to go to online school during COVID and truly care about your child's well being. My kids feel safe here, trust their teachers and administration, and have honestly thrived at this school since being here. I feel blessed to have this school so close to home and to trust my kids with a school that provides such solid support.

This school is focused so solely on high achievement that they will do everything possible to push out children who do not perform. My daughter went here with minimal issue, other than adjusting to the old school dictation-style teaching and an isolated situation where a stessed teacher used questionable methods to discipline the entire class for being disruptive. My son has ADHD and was put into detentions and in-school suspension over the allowable number of times per year by state law while he was in grades K-4. He was excluded from activities and field trips, put last in his kindergarten graduation despite it being alphabetical (his name should've been read 3rd - he was th only child not listed in order) and I was constantly told how I should consider medication (again - at 5 years old). They were oblivious to handling a 504 plan. My son was so deflated by his first 5 years of school that he dreaded every day. I have spoken with numerous parents who went through similar situations at this school. The goal is obviously to overwhelm the student and their parents into removal so they don't have to deal with the situation. My son is thriving now in the great public schools in NE Mesa, but still looks back on his time at SDA with trauma. On the positive side, telling his painful experience at SDA did help with legislation to prevent schools from issuing unnecessary suspension to elementary age children. This school may be wonderful for some children, but they do not "give unconditional love" for children with ADHD. If your child is trying to find their way through this complicated journey, this is NOT the school for you.
