I liked that the seats aren't in one single long row like typical theatres but are broken up into smaller sections (no more interruptions when other people need to scoot by to use the restroom/leave. The pre-movie ads are actually pleasant and they don't delay the start time of the movie. The theatre has cute lights in the shape of flowers on the ceiling and I believe there are vintage movie posters on the back wall. The facilities seemed clean from what I saw. They don't show the latest releases but do have some recognizable movies (ex: they're showing 80s movies on Tuesdays right now and will be showing Whiplash later this year I think). The Confucius Institute at U of I also screens Chinese movies here sometimes. I only paid $6 for my ticket...very reasonably priced! The audio was a bit too loud (only noticeable when the soundtrack of the movie came on) but other than that, I had a great experience. I'll definitely be back for more shows. Add them on Facebook for the latest updates! Also, you can rent their marquee space for things like birthday wishes, proposals, etc...such a cute idea!

In California, a casino has live entertainment, restaurants, and every kind of gambling option you could dream of. And while Lancer lanes and casino is quaint, I got the impression the bowling alley comes first, the game room second, the pool room third and the gaming tables 4th. More and afterthought. It was kind of dark and rundown the gaming room. I guess you could say dated. It seemed from the patrons and the employees more of a neighborhood hangout than anything.. I am not giving them a negative review but I cannot give a 10 star review either.

The Lewiston Civic Theatre is a gem and a valuable asset to this community. I love going to their…read moreplays and different events they have going on. This year in particular they have a fantastic run. I'm really looking forward to all of their shows. The children's productions are always darling and hilarious. It is great to see something our kids can do that not only teaches that valuable lessons but also gives them a chance to grow, learn, and serve our community. Washington State University in Pullman has an art museum and it's entirely free, except for…read moreparking. It was funded by Portland art collector Jordan Schnitzer. Schnitzer has specialized in collecting multiples or prints, where the artist has made a handful to a few hundred signed copies. Because the collector lends his collection freely to other museums, they also lend items back to show in this museum, allowing it to operate on a world art stage. The building is a fine architectural statement. Red mirror glass in a Mondrian-style grid relates to the red brick of much of the campus. To the right of the entrance is the original fire station making a large open high ceiling. To the left are a few stories of galleries. It's usually not busy, while I was there, people brought children in and out of strollers and they really didn't bother anyone. The museum has hired Robin Held, formerly of the UW Henry Gallery in Seattle as executive director. That gallery has a large budget. The Superflat show curated by Takashi Murakami brought Japanese commercial anime, and anime-inspired art into the US museum and gallery world by way of the Henry. Held brought back one of those artists with the video piece City Glow, edition of 5, borrowed from Houston - a multiple! The five channel video is an animation of a city in which the buildings are characters set amidst a verdant jungle with its own creatures and characters. The museum hosts the WSU thesis exhibitions, shows select faculty work, and commissions new pieces. The curation has been excellent, contextualizing the big names while bringing work that is relevant to students. The best way to keep up with shows is their Instagram and Facebook.

I ventured here for a women's basketball game to see Native American basketball phenoms Shoni…read moreSchimmel and her sister Jude. They were on the Louisville Cardinal's team and were in town to play WSU. The game was pretty awesome, and went down to the last minute. Shoni did not disappoint. Her teams offense was clearly run through her, and this made it hard for her to totally dominate the game, but she was able to make her entire team better, and ultimately too much for the Cougs. As for the Stadium, it's a decent little venue. I've actually been to this Stadium a few times. The WSU annual pow wow (known as the Pah-Loots-Pu Celebration) is also held at this venue in April. I managed to grab some decent general admission seats fairly close to courtside for the Schimmel game. There are food options here, and also a WSU gift store as well. I highly applaud organizations of WSU for putting together a great evening of basketball and culture. I ended up parking just outside the Stadium on a nearby street (didn't pay). I definitely plan on coming back here if the Schimmel sisters are here again, or for a pow wow.

Beasley Coliseum, home of Cougar basketball and the like!…read more Beasley is a pretty decent venue and pretty adaptable. The majority of the time I'm in the coliseum is for basketball, especially now that the season has started up again! For most games there is plenty of seating but if you want a seat closer to the action rather than in the upper tiers, it's best to arrive earlier rather than later. Zzu Cru of course, has first priority and get into games half an hour (I believe) before everyone else (if they're wearing their Zzu Cru shirt). One of the few games I've seen that the seats have been packed are the men's basketball games against University of Washington. I was literally in the last row of the upper section. Still had a pretty good view though. One of the more recent additions to the coliseum is the big screen in the center of the arena. It has pretty nice visuals and it's nice to have the scoreboard in the center like that. Plus it's great for instant replays that you may have missed. The aesthetics of the coliseum have been improved upon as well, I noticed the other day that there are new graphics spanning around the arena with the fight song lyrics. It looks pretty snazzy! I've also been to concert in Beasley, it was the Blues Brothers when they came for Dad's Weekend a few years ago, they had one end of the coliseum set up with the stage and seats on the floor. It was a pretty decent show (and fun for someone who grew up with them). A couple times a year they also turn the outer walkway area into a space for vendors for craft fairs and plant sales. It's pretty nice to just do an indoor loop to check out all the stands. Beasley also has an awesome cougar logo on the top...although you can only see it by air or photo.

Presentation at first where you park with a barn and garden plants starts out very promising but levels off to plainess later. The ponds on the loop we walked on have lots of pond scum, granted they could be going for a less manicured look here but the presence of water foul would clean the ponds up naturally which it was devoid of. There are sectors on the loop having plants brought from various parts of the world but nothing seemed very distinctive other than the signs indicating what the species of plant or tree was. I'm sure climate plays a big role in Western Idaho compared to Western Washington so those factors need to be considered if you are looking for an arboretum of a more dramatic type.

This is a beautiful and peaceful place to take a walk. They have the trees organized by…read morespecies/native region so it is gorgeous AND informative. We love to come see the trees blossoming in spring (and the baby ducks/geese!) and then we visit again to see the colorful leaves in the fall. You can grab a walking map near the start of the trail if you like. There are two ways to access the Arb - you can park by the U of I golf course for the north entrance or by the barn on Palouse River Drive on the southern end. Dogs are not allowed on the grounds.
