I have watched a movie at this theater and this is a wonderful small-town theater. It definitely isn't big by any means but the quality is just as good as bigger theaters. The screen is big enough and I was told that this theater has a super Dolby Atmos sound system (so you'll feel the floor rumbling lol!). In addition, the manager and individuals that work here are so friendly and willing to help you with any questions or concerns that you may have. I've been waiting years to Yelp this theater (last movie I saw here was Nacho Libre). So this is a small theater which has been around since 1910. It was abandoned in the 50s-90s & restored in the late 90s to its present glory. I love old theaters, and though this space has been renovated to make it operate modernly, it also has those classic characteristics, such as a nice balcony (complete with a restroom on top). This theater shows many first-run movies (maybe a few weeks after the fact), but it's appeal comes from everything else. The owner is a real character and before every movie, he gets up on stage and introduces each film. He also does many things to get the community involved with the movie experience. I recently went to a "Salsa Party" and this consisted of a Mexican dinner, margaritas, beer, and a viewing of cinematic excellence, The Three Amigos (his intro was interesting. I never knew Spielberg was slated to direct this epic). They show lots of unique films here as well. I haven't seen one, but they show many classic films (I wanted to see Mr. Smith Goes To Washington here). Additionally, in the works, they are planning to start a series of classics from the 60s-70s (including Rocky, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, etc.). And they are also going to show some recent independent films (such as Moon). Then there is the live theater. They have live shows throughout the year as well. The Liberty Theater is a non-profit establishment. With this, you get low prices for concessions and ticket prices. Their goal is to be there for the community and to get people interested in that time-old tradition of going to the movies. From the looks of it, many people in the community love the place. It's amazing a mecca of art such as this is there for a sleepy community such as Dayton. It's a bit of drive for me, but if there's ever a chance, I always try to make room for the Liberty Theater when I'm in the neighborhood. I want to let you know of a problem that I had with your theater during the play Annie which I will no longer go to another play there again. First off, we were taken aback that we had to purchase a ticket for our 15 month child. When we go to the movies, we don't have to; when we went to Disney on ice, we didn't have to. After we purchased three tickets, we asked why we had to on your Facebook page. Here is the response from Christine. The Liberty Theater We are happy to admit children under 4 to our movies for free. However, the vast majority of children under 5 are not developmentally ready to sit through 2+ hours of live theater. They often are disruptive to the audience and to the cast. As a result, many theaters do not admit young children and infants. We give parents the opportunity to decide if their child is capable of fully enjoying the show, and if they are, purchasing them a ticket. Us: We purchased a ticket based on your policy. However, we have attended many events before that our child was developmentally ready to view these shows. We even watched one in your theater where the ticket lady told us afterwards how developmentally ready he was to attend this play. So then, based on your assertion that you will let any child in under 4, we want to get a refund on the ticket we bought for him. Please tell us how we can do this? Further saying that those that can will be admitted free and those that cannot will have to pay. This is the same as saying all blacks have to pay and all whites are free. Secondly, I have a problem with Christine. She is overstrung and should never be in the position to be out front with the public. Here is what happened: while we were attending the show during the first half, William, our child started getting hungry. Also being excited by the play, tended to voice his enthusiasm. To prevent the disturbance of others, my wife got up and went to the back. Shortly later, She was met by Christine who was all frazzled and told her that William is not allowed back in the theater. During the same time, Christine must have told another lady this as two women with kids were standing in the lobby, confused as to why they were being accosted like this. Christine then told my wife and the other lady "To take your kid and put him in the bathroom. One to go into the male bathroom and the other to go into the female bathroom until it is over. My wife refused to do this. Christine threw her hands up, completely frazzled and walked off. My wife went back in the play to sit down. During the second half, again William got excited and started to voice his excitement. I then took him to the back and held him. He was fine back there. Christine opened up the door and told me to come out in the lobby. I told her that he was quiet. She told me that his noise is very disruptive to everybody and prevented me from going back inside. I paid for a ticket for me and one for William and I had to listen to the play from the lobby because of Christine. Annie is a kids play. If you don't want kids under a certain age, specify that. Don't say "infants and children need a ticket." This is why I am never going to another play her again. You need to remove Christine from her position and get someone else that can better deal with children and stress. Finally, based on what your theater said that if our child can sit through a movie, he is free but if he can't then we have to pay. We paid for a ticket for William because your policy said everyone needs a ticket, regardless of age. Therefore we should never have been asked to wait in the bathroom or lobby. I want a full refund on all three tickets we bought. Please get back to me to tell me how this can happen? read more

Absolutly charming, small, community, "wholesome," friendly, We were driving through Walla Walla visiting college campuses and made the 30 mile trek to see a first run movie based on Corey's recommendation. It was just as he said. Note: be sure your clear that they're playing your show... the local high school was doing Romeo and Juliet the night after we were there and then there was a lecture the night after that. read more

I found this place coming back from Spokane the long way. It is a small theater with one screen and what looks like a stage. I watched Benjamin Button and loved it. What a cute theater! The candy and popcorn are cheap. They even have a guy come out before the movie to introduce things and talk about the movies to come. This little place is a gem. You owe it to yourself to stop by and see what moviegoing must have been 70 years ago. read more
