The place is practically empty and dingy. I walked in and the phlebotomist was sitting at a desk talking with a person about football. He ignored me for sometime and continued with his conversation for another 15 minutes. I went back to the window to make sure he knew a patient was waiting. He then yelled, no exaggeration, take a seat. So I spent 1/2 hour listening to this obnoxious unprofessional person, and realize I would not let him near my arm with a needle. Go to Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, friendly, clean and professional, they are 5-minutes and a world apart.

Called and sent a picture, absolutely no help at all since I wasn't willing to drive over an hour there when I was still slightly groggy from anesthesia Isn't that why we can send a picture? To avoid an unnecessary trip, not to mention dangerous- asking a patient to drive 36 hours after surgery. I'll deal with the side effect so I don't risk my life or anyone else's. I was very disappointed in that and then my post op was fine but the attitude was chilly because I chose not to continue with a revision- at that time. It wasn't off the table but I wanted to give it a try and I'm glad I did because after a rough start, I'm doing great. So yes, I totally recommend Dr Giovanni, she's friendly personable and did a great job but was disappointed with the after surgery care and the chilly reception at my post op. I won't say avoid her, but if you're prone to allergic reactions or issues after surgery have a back up plan with your primary. She is a busy surgeon with a broad repertoire of skills and her staff got me an appointment in short order for my problem. Unfortunately, she had a surgical emergency that required her to cancel office hours, but the fact that she deals with such serious cases in addition to her other workload means she is a very competent, broadly trained physician. When she did finally see me, she was able to address my problem and fix it rather quickly, offering a timely solution. Note that anyone can perform surgery, now they have robots that can do it, but what distinguishes a good surgeon from a mediocre one is that the competent surgeon knows when *not* to operate or perform a seriously invasive procedure. Thankfully, Dr. Giovanni knew exactly what to do and I was sent on my way with a much less invasive procedure than I had anticipated. Her bedside manner was excellent, and she not only answered all my questions, but treated me like a human being and gave importance to all my concerns. Overall I would happily refer family and friends to this surgeon!

Hearts and stuff…read more Going to a doctor, especially a specialist, can range from annoying to inconvenient to exasperating. You are probably there because you have a problem, you suspect a problem or perhaps just a routine visit where you hope the doctor doesn't find a problem. Not a whole lot of good options. But just like changing the oil in you car, mowing your grass or taking out the trash, sometimes going to a doctor is necessary to keep things running smoothly and to get a few more miles out of the old chassis. Some doctors are very competent but not very compassionate or personable while others and nice but you might wonder if they really know what they are doing. Always nice to find a physician that you have confidence in that also will take the time to listen and actually explain things in detail if that is what the patient desires. Dr Willey treats cardiac conditions like cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, endocarditis and a whole bunch of other problems and does procedures like electric cardioversion, cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty and other things that most people probably don't want to know about. And if he doesn't actually preform a particular cardiac procedure he almost definitely knows and can recommend someone that does. Going to a doctor can be annoying and very frustrating. It's nice to have a physician that not only can do the poking, cutting and zapping but also take the time to listen to the patient and most importantly be honest and can explain what to expect.
