We told her our dog gets overly excited when he sees other dogs and will bark etc, so asked if we could do a 1:1 session in our neighborhood. She suggested Green Lake and I said he would lose his mind with so many dogs. She said it would be fine and to our surprise she really helped redirect his behavior and it was a lot better than we thought. She gave us lots of info and after we decided to enroll in her basic obedience class in Seattle. The class was night and day compared to the first we took. Our dog was with the other two dogs and learned to socialize so well (in the first class we had to be separated so he wouldn't bark which stressed him out even more). The class was full of good ways to teach basic commands and you can tell how much she loves dogs by how sweet and loving she is with them. I highly recommend her class for anyone who wants to help their dog learn basic obedience.

Before we met Mateo, we were totally overwhelmed…read more Our rescue dog was aggressive toward children and lunged at people, so we'd have to be hyper vigilant on every walk. The pup couldn't go to the dog park (no recall) or be left outside alone (he's a digger). Company was out of the question. He was so reactive to people and noises that we couldn't even open our curtains. And he was not at all food motivated, which made any kind of training a challenge. The three other trainers we worked with had not solved our worsening problems, and we had given up. Taking care of our beloved but reactive pup had become a lifestyle. Luckily for us, one day our vet recommended Capable K9. It worked beyond what I had even hoped for. We called to have a conversation but the guy that answered was just very condescending and kept telling us to refer to the website. (The website where we got their contact information from.) Considering that this person is the FIRST point of contact and that they essentially represent the business as a whole, we grew increasingly concerned that this would be our continued experience moving forward so we decided to go with another training group. TL;DR Don't bother calling -- just do everything online and they will probably treat you better. Otherwise, perhaps take your business elsewhere where they don't treat you like an incompetent idiot.

I reached out to Nikki about training for my new puppy. She responded with a standard pitch detailing her credentials and a premium rate of $200/hour, claiming she trains dogs "in a different way" than others. Naturally, before investing that kind of money and inviting someone into my home, I politely asked if she had any short video clips of her training style so I could understand her methodology. Her response was incredibly curt and defensive: "No i dont have social media you are requesting. My training is very personal and not media income for me." I didn't care about social media; I cared about understanding her teaching style. Because finding a trainer is about compatibility and trust, I actually went out of my way to apologize for any misunderstanding and asked if she could point me to any online video of any trainer with a similar style, just so I could get a rough idea of what to expect. Instead of a professional response (like suggesting client references or pointing to her Yelp reviews), she completely shut down the conversation: "I have provided the information I provide to all my clients. It seems we will not be a good fit." Nikki expects clients to blindly commit to a $200/hour rate with zero visual proof or demonstration of her "unique" methodology. When asked basic, polite questions to ensure a good fit, she met me with defensiveness, a complete lack of flexibility, and a curt dismissal. If a trainer is this defensive and difficult to communicate with before you even hire them, imagine how stressful it would be to work with them. There are plenty of highly qualified trainers who welcome questions and treat prospective clients with respect--IMO go to them instead. I've attached our communication as proof.
