Store owner Andrea was helpful and friendly. Her dogs are so sweet as they make their rounds walking about. There's a mix of items here so it's not just house plants and indoor gardening types of things. Lots of the items if not all are sourced from local artisans. Check out Staghorn, it's a nice stop and the Saturday market is also right about the corner.

This Yelp review is to help point others to this little gem "on purpose". If you're looking for a landmark to find Earth's Art - Tumalo Garden Market as you drive from Bend to Tumalo, it's in the long red and white building that you can't miss seeing from the road. But this garden store and nursery is tucked in the back of that building. BOTTOM LINE: This will be on my regular rotation for garden plant and accent shopping! If you enjoy Eastside Gardens in Bend (I think it's among the best of local nurseries - http://www.yelp.com/biz/eastside-gardens-bend ) you might think of this as a much smaller version of that. WHAT IT IS / WHAT IT SELLS: Part indoor garden shop with amazingly healthy house plants (as all of us in Central Oregon's high dessert climate know, this can be hard to achieve here), garden tools, garden hats, birdhouses, bird feeders, pots and an array of other things. Part outdoor garden nursery area with gravel walkways leading to green houses of pre potted displays as well as perennials in sizes from four inch pots to gallon containers to larger. Some vegetable starts are also in the mix. The nursery extends beyond the greenhouses and you find many kinds of trees for sale there. Some of the plant containers and birdhouses and garden accents are made by local people. Tip: Look at the cool planters made by a local guy out of defunct propane tanks. There is a reason Garden Arts sells out of these. But more than simply retail sales are here. Earth's Art - Tumalo Garden Market also offers classes, like an upcoming Wildlife Gardening class (my favorite way to garden as my Yelp profile reveals). They also provide services to help with landscaping and home agriculture. VALUE: Prices on all things seemed very reasonable. We bought two pretty planted pots to use in a cart we keep on our front porch and we paid about 25% less than we would have for something of similar quality elsewhere. Not to mention we probably couldn't have put these together as artfully on our own. (Note: Like them on Facebook and you'll get 10% off your purchase.) VERY FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF: The woman who runs the store, Linda, is enthusiastic about what the owner is doing here and a font of information and uber helpful. Delightful. ACCESSIBILITY: The parking lot has well over 50 spaces but only one accessible stall, so code minimums are not met here, and it is not well marked. The good news, though, is the lot is paved and not gravel. Also good news, the garden store is level in and accessible including the loo. The bad news is large loose gravel at the nursery would make it impossible for a wheelchair user - or someone pushing a stroller. On the day I visited, a user of Canadian crutches and another user of a walker were struggling on the large, loose gravel. THIS N THAT: 1) FARMERS MARKET: During 2012, the Tumalo Farmers Market is held here on Thursday afternoons from 3:00 - 6:00. Started the end of May and will run through September. 2) TUMALO ART WORKS (TAW): This is located in the same complex and has for sale the work of local craftsman and artists. For this little shop selling "seasoned home furnishings & consignment", per the tag line in their print ads, I am also a fan of how the owner has laid out the small interior space with vignettes of the items for sale. In fact I said "nicely staged" right out loud when we walked in the door. Turns out the owner has some background in home design and the design sensibility shows. With so many of Bend's other resale shops being stuffed with "stuff", it was refreshing to have one with some room to navigate. So, lots of good foundation. A drawback is the relatively small amount of inventory. But they're new - open only about three weeks now - and that will likely change for the better over time. Open only on Fridays and Saturdays (10A to 5P). Apparently business has been brisk - makes sense given the very good condition of items for sale and reasonable prices. . This is the kind of place, were I good at resale store shopping, that I'd want to go back to from time to time. I have never learned the knack of resale store shopping, but given I have some things to consign, this place will be near the top of my list when I do that. If you're in the market for a "seasoned home furnishings" treasure in Bend, this is a place you should pay a visit. Conveniently located in the Industrial Park area off of American Canyon Lane.
