My wife and I attended Eastville Comedy Club last night, and the experience was mixed. First, I want to say the service was good. We were greeted by the bartender when we came in, and he took our drink orders right away. My wife really enjoyed her drink and said it was amazing. I also thought my drink tasted good, but it was very weak and mostly tasted like ginger beer/soda. Still, the flavor was good, and the service itself was friendly. The comedy experience, however, left me feeling uncomfortable. When we walked in, one comedian was already on stage, and the timing felt awkward. It seemed like he may have been in the middle of a joke involving melanated people, because when we entered he reacted by saying something like "perfect timing" or "horrible timing," and the crowd laughed. In the moment, I didn't fully process it, but afterward it made me wonder if we had walked in during a joke where people like us were the target. We were seated in the front row, right in the middle, but during the following performances I felt strangely ignored by some of the comedians. I noticed very little eye contact with me, even though they appeared to engage with other people in the room. I understand that comedians may not make eye contact with every person, and I'm not saying I know anyone's intentions, but as one of the only melanated couples in the audience, the overall feeling was uncomfortable and somewhat alienating. One performer also wore lightning-bolt-shaped earrings, which stood out to me because that type of imagery can resemble symbols associated with hate groups or extremist history. I don't know if that was intentional or just a fashion choice, but given the rest of how I was already feeling, it added to the discomfort. We ended up leaving early after a few comedians because the seats were uncomfortable and the overall vibe just didn't feel welcoming to us. I wanted to enjoy the show, and there were moments where I laughed, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we were not really being included in the room. I was invited by a friend on a Thursday night out to see his friend do stand up comedy. I had no expectations but was looking forward to just having a good night out. It w exactly that. Very chill vibes. The comedians were good but his Indian friend was the best! There was no food menu - maybe some popcorn. The drinks were kinda pricey - like 17$. The tickets to the comedy show was about $20 plus a 2 drink min. I ordered a spicy margarita with Tanteo Jalapeño (my favorite tequila) but the drink was so strong and didn't taste good. I spoke to our server and she offered a Metal drink instead and that was so much better, thankfully. I was looking forward to ordering another drink but our waitress was no where around. The show finished and the staff had everyone walk out to the car where the counter had everyone's credit cards and checks ready to be signed. I had such an incredible time at Eastville comedy club! This club is one of the oldest comedy clubs in Brooklyn! The show was about 2 hours which is a really great amount of time for the show! There were several performances, each better than the one before! I went to a show called, "Close the Door Behind You" at Eastville comedy club on a Saturday night. The name was strange but exciting to me because I didn't know what to expect. But I was blown away by the quality of the comedians. One after another was hilarious and interesting, some of which I recognized from social media. I had such a good time here. I try to visit open mics when I am traveling and this is by far the best one I've been to. Very organized and the vibe was immaculate. The bartender Ella (don't kill me if it's Ellie, I was close) was so cool and made amazing drinks! She was so friendly and knowledgeable. Very nice space . Bigger than you expect when entering. At the front is a small bar area and 2 restrooms. The club area is at the very back through a door. We were greeted by a friendly man who asked for your name , I purchased tickets through the website. I liked that there wasn't an additional requirement to purchase drinks like many other comedy clubs. 2 tickets were $73 after tax, not bad. The show lasted about an 1hr 20 mins. I wish they served some type of hot food. They only got snacks like popcorn, which is damn good when you are tipsy and hungry, lol. I had the watermelon Moscow it was refreshing. The server came to your table, and she was friendly. Overall I had good experience. The comedians were ok lol not ha ha hilarious, but a good chuckle read more

The club is located on Atlantic Ave near Nevins St. which is a few blocks from a major subway line. And between Brooklyn's B.A.M. & Barleys Ctr. Though the entry bar area is small the performance is large. The staff are attentive & pleasant. It has a good stable of comedians with some newbies thrown in. The beers & drinks are not as expensive some other clubs though there is the regular 2 drink min. The venue has a 6pm, 8pm & 9:45 sets Thur. Fri. & Sat. Overall you'll have a good time. read more

The whole feel of the place was amateurish, from the seating to the servers. $36 for a ticket and $40+ for the 2-drink minimum and tip was way too much to pay for the one letdown during an otherwise great trip to NYC. Like most comedy clubs, the nights can be a hit or miss. Came here on a Thursday night with a date, and there is a $20 cover with no drink minimum and they allowed outside food to be brought in. We saw 4 comics that tried their best to liven up the crowd, but it was pretty awkward hearing the comics thinking to themselves of what jokes to say to a mix crowd of audience. The drinks, on the other hand, are terrible All taste like minute made lemonade (lemon mule, Long Island tea, margarita - doesn't matter what you order) with only difference that minute made lemonade tastes better. This was my first time going to a comedy club and Eastville did not let me down. As you enter the comedy you're greeted with the bar area as you make your way down to the comedy club section. It's very intimate with a black box type of feel. The stage area is in the middle to the front and can be seen from wherever you're seated. They do provide services to your table in that way you are not disturbed by going to get a drink while the comedian is on. I came here with a large group on a Friday night to the 8pm showing and by 9:30ish they were wrapped up as they also had a 10pm show. I must say they had a great line up that had the audience in stitches!!!! And they were packed to full capacity. That night we saw 5 comedians who all performed on comedy central and one had a show on netflix. I will definitely be back at this spot! read more

We came interested in Jeanine Garofalo and walked out in love with just about anyone that stepped up to act and make us laugh. My coworker is from Brooklyn and offered me to take her VIP tickets from her since she won't be going to the show. For only $5/ticket and no drink min, I was down. My friend and I were going to NYC for the weekend so we headed to EastVille Comedy Club. It's a small setting. Intimate. Four comedians. None of them blew us away. One was better than the others. Jokes were lame. The last person was the boringest. Get this. TWO. I repeat TWO people fell asleep. One of them being my friend. My coworker absolutely love this comedy club. So bizzare, not a comfortable environment for women. Me and two friends went tonight to the open mic (7/20/24). Jokes were absurdly misogynistic and not funny in the slightest. Think along the lines of omgggg i had sex with a woman (no you didn't) and ewww women have periods and smell like old pennies did you know that ???! shut up..... I was frustrated and upset and we left early. I felt sorry for the woman who was employed there and hosting the event it was strange. The old bate and switch tactic! Bought tickets the afternoon of to see a specific comedian who was advertised. After purchasing non-refundable tickets the confirmation email says "you're paying to see a comedy show, not the specific comedians" who might not be there. I looked up both comedians and neither had this particular show on their schedules. I called the venue and I was told they "didn't know" if the listed comedians would be there. I pointed out the show was in 2 hours and if these comedians weren't performing than who was? The woman said "I'm just the bartender I don't know these things." Paid $55 for two comedy show tickets at 8pm on a Saturday, got seated, and it takes awhile for the 2 servers to get your drink order as they need to take everyone's order one by one. The show consisted of 4 acts and it was ok. 3 male performers and 1 woman who was the best of the night. Want to support and love this place, but PLEASE make it clear you are charging 18% gratuity AND that the gratuity line on the bills you hand out in the dark during a show is for ADDITIONAL TIP on top of the 18%. Yes, I know it says automatic gratuity in very small type but when you are trying to listen to a comic and the only light is the spotlight it's really hard to see the bill. Just seems like a shady practice to get people to end up tipping more like 36%. If you sign up for their email list they will send you links to $7 tickets. Most of the shows I've been to here were great - on a recent weekend night, four of five performers ranged from awful to so-so and one (Krystyna Hutchinson of "Guys We F*cked") was hilarious. I appreciate that they try to do some family friendly shows on weekends, and I think it's a great space that is under-utilized. read more

I went one night where Janine Garafalo headlined and she was the worst that night. Anyway the space is cool and clean and nice. I can't speak to the comedy, but my friends and I bought tickets to an advertised 90s night for NYE at this place and it was a total scam. The bouncer was exceptionally rude, the "party" if it can be called that, started 10 minutes before midnight even though it said 9 pm on the tickets. The lights inside were not strobe lights but looked like emergency lights set to cause an epileptic seizure and frankly multiple times I was considering telling them that this might be a liability for them. The music was genuinely terrible, not even music you can dance to? It seemed as though they were trying to actively get us to leave. An absolutely awful experience, a total scam, and completely inappropriate for what was advertised vs what was provided. read more

Entrance is $20 with two drinks minimum. Drinks are not that good and pricey. I guess regular price for this area in Brooklyn. Great space. Every seat is a good seat. Great comics but call to check to make sure that the comedian listed will show up. I've been there twice now and both times I comedian listed in the program was not there. Also beware of the rounding charge on your bill even though a beer was nine dollars on the menu they added $.89 so that with the tax and tip it will come out to an even number. This is close you'll get to any authentic comedy spot in NYC. From the hosts to the comedians, everything is great and even though social distancing is in place there's still a lot of space for you to get tickets on pretty much any day. The website is offering mostly donation-based so you won't have to break the bank if you want to go out to have a good time. The drinks are pretty good but they do not have food so if you do want to grab something to eat you can bring it in with you as long as it's within reason (pizza, snacks etc) I urge everyone to come here as much as you like as the comics continue to rotate and they always have a certain themed evening. I just had great evening at Eastville Comedy Club. First off, It was $21 to get in - which I thought was a bargain for a Saturday night. Secondly, the no drink minimum allowed me to relax which I appreciated. Thirdly, the staff told me that I could bring in food, so I ran down the street and bought a falafel sandwich at Bedouin Tent. The waitress was efficient and unobtrusive. The comedians were funny but not transcendent. Lots of identity politics in their humor, which I find boring but I know it is a big thing in Brooklyn in 2019. The sightlines, soundsystem and lighting were all good. So cool to have a dedicated comedy club in Brooklyn! I like this new location a lot! Not only is it just three blocks from my apartment, but it's so much cleaner and more open than their previous location. Which I guess means it lacks that famous East Village grit, but I don't care. Saw a 5 comedian set, each one funnier than the next. Jeanine Garofalo performed and I think she must have a residency here, because she's always on deck.
