I'd suggest she watch a bunch of YouTube videos and work on her routine, or replace her with somebody that actually is funny and can read the room better. When I…read morebought the tickets on the spur of the moment I didn't realize that Kam Patterson of SNL would be a part of the line-up. Of course, he was very funny. Of course, his participation that evening helped to explain why the tickets sold out in a hurry. He was among several talented stand-up comedians performing that evening. Some were clearly funnier than others. One of them openly admitted that he was struggling to get laughs. The club is a comfortable space. The comics might feel safe because photos and videos are not permitted once the performances begin. The staff is helpful and friendly. Along with your ticket, you're required to buy a minimum of snacks and drinks. The freshly made popcorn is quite good. I think my admission ticket cost $20. It entitled me to a seat in the back. For an additional cost you can get premium seating and sit right next to the stage where comedians can pick on you. No thanks. I might be too thin skinned to literally become the butt of jokes, even if some are really funny. There are age restrictions for attendees. Much of the material wouldn't be considered "clean." Some comedians used graphic, sexual language and did a lot of cursing. So it's not for everybody. Overall, I found the evening fun and I enjoyed a good laugh.

He did a great job of warming things up to start and really connected well with the audience. Certainly be prepared to be called out for some good laughs as he pretty much had a great joke on everyone there. The comedians were from all over the country and from very different backgrounds of life. This place is great for any occasion at any time of the week with coworkers, couples, or big groups of friends. There was even one guy there who went alone (and was obviously was picked on by the host for that very reason). I will say the 2 drink minimum that everyone complains about isn't that bad. Typical price for NYC but certainly nothing special. Flavored margaritas (mango and blood orange) were a bit sugary. I would recommend sticking to something basic here. The air conditioning is well-regulated, keeping the space comfortable even when the room is packed. However, there are a few downsides. The biggest issue is that there's only one bathroom, which can be a real inconvenience, especially with a large crowd. Be prepared for lines during intermission or after the show. Additionally, there's a one-drink minimum per person, which might not appeal to everyone, especially if you're just there for the comedy and not looking to drink. Service was ok. Asked for napkins and did not get any. Overall, it's a fun spot with a good atmosphere, but the limited bathroom facilities and drink requirement are worth considering before you go.

I think this may have been a single occurrence, as it certainly is in no way true about LBC as a whole. I moved to NYC in 2010 specifically to take their 6-week program, and everyone involved with LBC was nothing but warm and friendly to me. As a female myself, not one time was I made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted, and in fact, I have known many female comedians that have come up through the LBC ranks (not just utilizing the open-mics) and have never, not one time, heard a similar complaint. As far as the mics go, yes, there are stringent rules, but anyone who has been to the plethora of mics in NYC recognize the value of having rules; many other mics in the city are sheer mayhem. With LBC mics, you get people's undivided attention and they are always responsive (where response is warranted, lol). The biggest thing you'll see at an LBC mic is respect, and that alone is worth any money paid. In regards to LBC classes: You can take workshops/classes cheaper than LBC, but you walk away with much less as well, and you can pay much more than LBC for "accredited" classes, and still you won't get near the stage time, experience, information or attention as you will from Jeff Lawrence and his instructors. Bottom line, the cost of workshops or classes are NO indication of value, but what you get out of them, is. LBC is worth every penny. Laughing Buddha Comedy is simply cream of the comedy crop. I owe a huge part of my experience and success that I have found in the past 7 years as a stand-up comedian to LBC. It would have taken me yearrrrs to learn on my own what is taught at LBC, and the contacts I have made via networking with people associated with LBC would never have happened, period, without them. I highly, HIGHLY recommend Laughing Buddha Comedy, and its owner, Jeff Lawrence.

It's located in the East Village, so parking will be notoriously difficult. We were late to the show due to horrific traffic, but we actually snagged some good seats in the front row. It's pretty tight and cozy in there; there's about 5 rows of seating. I actually loved how intimate it was because the comedians got to connect with us more as an audience. Unfortunately I don't remember the entire line-up of comedians (there were around 8-10), but some of the ones I remember were Rachel Williams and Vinny G (Jersey Shore, what's up lol). They were all pretty f*cking hilarious. I could also have been laughing my butt off because I was drunk after taking a bottle of wine to the face but hey... a good time is a good time! The crowd was on the younger side, around 23-35 years old. The comedians had us all laughing and crying. Go snag your tickets online because they sell out fast AND they're very reasonably priced. I'm coming back for more!

(Maybe also until the last minute for the team organizing it?!) On the night we went, there was a large percentage of foreigners, including a few "wet blankets." [An audience member queried about their accent described it weirdly as "Polish British." Nothing in their garbeled babble was at all British, but perhaps they idiotically plugged "Polish British" accent into an AI program to learn English.] Despite that challenge, all but one comic kept things moving and had solid sets. The price is right, even if someone ends up delivering a soft performance. Perfect for cheap entertainment and laughs! Get there early if you want to snag one of the few barber's chairs vs. a folding chair or the likes to enjoy the show. Keep in mind, it's BYOB! There are no drinks poured, no food served, no showtime bowl cuts or shaves offered - Live at the Barbershop is only the show!

Hubby had the chips and salsa but the salsa was terrible and the chips were stale. They also include mini-golf but that was a disorganized disaster. People could not get signed in efficiently so others just grabbed putters and balls looking for an open green. This interfered with those that had successfully checked in. It's a great concept in a great location but they have much that needs improvement. I hope they can take this as constructive criticism, learn from it, and become overwhelming successful.

There's a general admission line that's on the sidewalk in front. Someone checks in everyone while they're on the GA line outside and hands you a temporary ticket that's laminated, which you promptly return once you file into the building. Venue is small enough that there's no real bad seat. I've been kinda hesitant to go to comedy clubs since COVID because I still mask a decent amount and don't want to feel like the only one. In case others care about that as well, there were other people still masking in attendance which made me feel less self-conscious.
