I had another vendor visit the property, and he only spent 3 minutes poking his head around - he did not even enter the crawl space! Therefore, it was an easy choice to go with Sunshine. I felt comfortable enough with Adam to ask him to visit my parents' home for a possible retrofit. Unfortunately, this structure does not have a crawl space / cripple walls and thus is not able to be retrofitted. I don't need show, but the work should be good functional quality. Above all, I hate salesmen who try to sell things, without basing on clear facts. I am an engineer and I like to thoroughly research, even though I am not in construction trades. I got 4 quotes before proceeding with Adam. He stood out from day 1, making it clear what he was recommending and why. He didn't try to oversell, and he gave clear evidence backed rationale for everything. He was honest. He encouraged me to get other quotes so I do my due diligence. I checked and double checked what the other foundation contractors told me, and it became clear towards the end that Adam's advice had been fact based. Some of the other contractor's advice conflicted... do an underpin, don't do an underpin. An underpin can harm your foundation by adding stress as you don't have rebar, etc. At the end, having satisfied myself I went with Adam. His prices were not the lowest nor the highest, but fair. Stand up guy. Highly recommend. Good company, the crew whi worked on my home were all Sunshine employees, not random temps. Looking forward to not worrying about my foundation again.

I was first referred to Preferred Builders by my tax preparer, Happily, my first repair/remodel turned out wonderfully so I immediately started a remodel on my own home. Scope of work: remove all the carpeting in the house and install laminate plank flooring in those areas. The travertine flooring in the entry, kitchen and hallway had large craters which collected dirt and water residue after washing. I had the floor steamed, the craters filled and the whole floor resealed. I had a gasline installed in the kitchen and a new gas oven installed. I also had a complete bathroom remodel which included removing a huge jacuzzi tub and installing an elegant and safe walk in shower. For the bathroom Nir listened to my concerns and needs and then gave me two 3-D renderings of my options. "Well no it's not exactly... "Then what did I miss?" "Well there's all sorts of other things blah blah blah..." Overall the tone was condescending and he made it clear that I didn't know what I was talking about, when in fact I have 15 years experience as a home designer that designs and budgets facelifts on houses that are about to go up for sale. I have dealt with contractors for many, many years. Eventually I got fed up with his tone and told him to cancel the appointment. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done.
