Was very disappointed with the service and the wood flooring products offered during a major flooring replacement. They were recommended by the general contractor for the project. I explained In detail what I was looking for when they came out to look at the project. The samples they sent were poor quality, sloppy and uneven staining, and not at all what I had explained that I wanted. I found the product and color that I wanted and gave the information to the contractor. He insisted that Finnmark could get the product and do the installation with quality work. They got the product, but the installation crew was careless and sloppy. I ended up with glue on freshly painted wall walls, holes punched in drywall buy carelessness. I would not use them again for anything. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with an installer referred to me by Finmark Flooring. I called Finmark because I needed a few pieces of my kitchen floor repaired. They referred me to someone named Benjamin, he was referred by Simon. Benjamin came to my home while I wasn't there (my mom was present), and he replaced about 3 pieces of flooring. However, without my permission and while I was not home, he took all 5 boxes of flooring material that I had stored in my garage. This was not discussed, authorized, or necessary for the small job he completed. I find this completely unprofessional and dishonest. Taking materials without permission is unacceptable and shows a serious lack of integrity. I reached out to Finmark because I thought I could trust their referrals, but unfortunately, this experience proved otherwise. I can't recommend a company that refers people who take advantage of homeowners when they're not present. read more

NO customer service! I am interested in replacing the flooring in my home with wood in some rooms including the hallways and carpeting in others. I visited the Finmark Carpet One store in Northridge on 11/04/2024 with my sister hoping to find the right materials. I stated that I wanted high-end, easy to maintain and long lasting flooring. Unfortunately, the salesman (not one, in my opinion) in the store was not helpful. I wanted to know about the pros and cons of the various materials and his response was that he was not a decorator! He left us standing there and went to sit in the back of the store! We attempted to browse by ourselves, however, the display samples were much too heavy for us to move so we finally left. Disgusting and disappointing experience. We will never return! read more

If you're shopping around for new floor covering, like I was, search no further. I first went to that place with the jingle... then I priced my Big Box store ... then, on the recommendation of a friend, I went to Finmark. All three guys came to my house, measured, and gave me a price -- Finmark was actually lower than the other two. Jingle Place sent a guy to my house that kept lowering his price over and over but for "today ONLY." Really irritating. He also advised us to buy floor covering that wasn't what we wanted. Big Box guy almost got our business as he was very knowledgeable about luxury vinyl flooring. But once we talked to Gary at Finmark, our decision was made. Knowledgeable, professional and responsive. Finmark has an actual store (remember those?) in Northridge where they have samples of every kind of floor covering you could imagine. So much to choose from! We took home a few samples of the vinyl planks to determine the color we wanted. And Gary helped us pick out carpet in the store (using our chosen sample) that we just fell in love with when installed. Our priorities were flooring that was new puppy proof and we now have beautiful new floors that are "water"-proof, stain proof, scratch proof and has a great warranty along with the ability to replace any damaged piece at a later date if ever necessary. Now there is an important third variable in the "price + product = " equation and that is installation. I would give Finmark's guys SIX stars! So well done, so conscientious, so thorough! They even did some trouble shooting on our subfloors and made repairs! The squeeky floor no longer squeeks! The molding is perfect! We couldn't be happier! The pups like it, too! Very very disappointed with their customer service! I went in to the store 3 times and called 3 times to get information about lux vinyl floors. I asked if he could get samples. The salesman said I needed to do that myself! Once I got the samples in the mail, I asked if we could measure for a price estimate. He said he'd call me back, never did! So I found another flooring store that carried the lux vinyl line and their service was fantastic! They were very responsive, out that week to measure! I'm going to purchase the vinyl and carpet as well! Finmark lost $5k. I don't think that's chump change when small business are hurting! read more

I'm going back a few years but since we now have to redo everything that Finmark installed I thought I'd share this. We went with Finmark originally to get new tile in the kitchen. Our sales rep was named Glen. He recommended a nice Italian porcelain. Their installer, Rene, did a nice job on the installation. He discovered 3 asbestos tiles and recommended that we just go over top of them rather than call a hasmat team to remove them. In retrospect I wish I'd gone ahead and removed them but oh well. After a few months some of the tiles in the kitchen started to crack. We went back to see Glen and we must have caught him after a 3 martini lunch, there was definitely something way off with him. He told us that he didn't carry that tile anymore and couldn't be bothered to help us find anything similar that might work. I don't expect tile to last forever but a little bit of helpfulness and consideration toward a customer would have been nice. Even then we still went back again to check out some new bathroom tile and Glen blew us off agin so we gave up and went elsewhere to buy the tile. (We had Rene install it, it didn't go well but that's not Finmark's fault.) As much as I like to recommend locally owned businesses I can't give these guys a good recommendation, sorry. Our family has used Finmark for about 30 years. They had been wonderful. We recently used them for Flooring in 2 bathrooms. The installation team were extremely unprofessional! They left the rooms and adjacent rooms full of dust and debris! After complaining to John, they again left the rooms dirty and walked out of the house without all of their supplies. They left the doors open the entire day and treated our home like a construction zone! Obviously, there was no communication between Gary John and his technicians! read more

They installed our carpet with toxic smelly padding. This padding made the carpet smell and the concrete underneath it smell. I am afraid that it is affecting our health. They know it is the cheapest toxic padding but they do not warn you. They should say if you want a healthy padding that will be more money. We had new floors installed in our home and I would recommend Finmark without hesitation. Adon and his crew were professional, friendly and asked us questions all along the way as to what and how we would want certain things done. I truly believe they don't want new customers or need to retain existing customers anymore. The last project with them on it suffered from unclear billing, shady dealings, and lying about the products and pricing... all while blaming their vendors, installers, or even putting the blame on the client. Never took responsibility for their shortcomings. Did not make it right when given the opportunity. While they came recommended and I've recommended them in the past, their customer service has changed over the years. Not the same place it once was and not sure they deserve the reputation they have built. I hope they can turn things around, but they will no longer have me as a customer for me to find out. read more

My wife and I needed new carpeting for three bedrooms and hallway and flooring for our office. We went to Finmark with the hope of receiving good service and good value -- but also with the goal of supporting a local business. And we were not disappointed. Not only did they have a showroom with a great variety of both carpeting and flooring, but we had the great fortune of working with Steve. He listened to our needs and made suggestions -- but at no time did we feel that we were being "pushed" into certain products. He clearly explained the advantages of the various products we were considering while helping guide us into the best possible product, for each space, at a very competitive price. Once we had made our decisions and Steve had come out to do the measurements, he kept in regular contact between the time we signed the contract (requiring only a 10% deposit) and the installation. He reached out a few days before the installation (it was done over two days because of the different type of flooring) to reconfirm everything and then, after each install, checked in to ensure that we were pleased. In addition to Steve's oversight of the entire project, the crews that did the installation were outstanding. They were timely, respectful of our furniture and home, and responded to any questions we had. It was clear that the installers were very experienced and committed to quality work. Although we will not likely need flooring in the near future, we are 100% comfortable in recommending Finmark for any flooring needs and, if future customers are lucky, they'll get to work with Steve. read more

Shopped a few of the products Finmark carries with some of the other stores with same exact product, and this place is AT LEAST TWICE the price of others. Steer clear if you don't want to be ripped off. I'm not here to drop names to promote other stores, as this was my experience in the research I did....but when you are shopping for floors and its going to cost close to 10K for floors, at least don't pay what these people charge. Update: Due to business owners response, I have to share my experience more specifically.... I priced 2 different products with Finmark vs Lenolium City, which was half price of Finmark. read more

I unfortunately bought a floor from Finnmark. I have told my friends never to buy anything from them. After I had looked at a floor a couple of times, Jon Finnmark called several time asking if I had made a decision - I said to my contractor, "That guy is anxious to sell a floor". I decided and ordered the floor per my credit card - I had to text him not once but a couple of times and finally received a receipt via e-mail. I called and asked Jon for the paper work and the floor guarantee for my records - no response. Finally I got a hold of him, and he'd been out of town. I sent him a text to order additional transition strips. The response was, "please call me tomorrow after 1." I thought, I'm the customer why doesn't he call me - same answer, "I was out of town". I had to chase after him about the delivery of the transition, then texted him because I needed an additional transition - no response. I finally got a hold of him so it could be ordered. No answer about returning leftover materials (my friends said as long as the boxes aren't open you can return them) or the guarantee. I texted him again and finally received two grey illegible copies, that was supposed to be the information and guarantee! I called and left a message - never heard back. I guess I'll have to try to contact the manufacturer so I will have the information when I sell. This may sound strange, I had a feeling about buying from them - there was something... should have gone with my intuition. My contractor sent me to a few reputable floor companies, and I wish I'd taken his advice. The contractor agreed that once Finnmark had received the money for the floor, I wasn't important. He does much of his work in the Valley, and he would advice his clients not to buy from Finnmark. read more

Not very impressed with them. I was approached by Steve last weekend, was really just browsing to get ideas for my stairs. After some small talk about my stairs and showing him some photos, I asked how I get an estimate for install. I asked him if they'd like to come out and estimate the project, he said their was no need. He said to email him photos and measurements which I did. While he was out at lunch I picked out 2 types of floors and included them in the email as well for the price quote. After a week of no response to my email, I called and ask him for a status. His reply was that he couldn't estimate without seeing the project, he didn't know it was stairs too.... But he could give me a ballpark. I told Steve "I showed you the photos OF THE STAIRS and asked you while I was there if you needed to come out for the estimate?" I also have found another solid wood floor that I liked and would like an install only price if I bought the material which he didn't stock..... "no we can't do that, you have to buy our material. Sounds like your shopping around". Strongly had the impression he didn't want our business, or didn't want to compete. Of course I'm shopping around it's a $5-6k project, who wouldn't?!.... Not sure what red flags I could have possibly given him while I was looking, but the outright lies.... It's like.... I know what was said dude I was there??? I speak great English and have awesome communication skills. Not sure what the underline issue is. Hopefully he's not part of the "family" because I would be embarrassed to have an employee like Steve. Randy- I see your response and thank you. I'm a construction estimator myself , I can tell you YES all projects should be looked at. My impression with Steve, he was more concerned about going to lunch then he was with selling product. He could have easily given me to someone else. Steve seems a bit seasoned and complacent. It may be good to get someone hungry for work to sell it! Update July 11th: Now however you private messages and insults are way out of line. You boast about your "years of experience" but your customer service and people skills lack. Turns out it was your fathers "years of experience" NOT YOURS! You should never talk to a customer the way you do. Funny I was in a home today, homeowner has used you for years. She said "The son who took over the business is arrogant , it was the fathers business and he was great." We found you installed carpet tac strips on top of asbestos VAT flooring (big NO NO) Take ownership for your employees mistakes... in fact, it's not their mistakes.... It's yours! Own it, learn from it, and apply what you've learnt. Based off other peoples reviews here, you are having trouble taking ownership and responsibility. It was your fathers business, once his clients are gone you'll be left with nothing if you don't change. Hope your knee heals soon! read more

Just got waterproof linoleum. From first time in store to floor installation it was a very positive experience. Will definitely use again.

My wood floor and tiling were smashed because of an underslab water leak. Quotes from other contractors were exorbitant because they could not match the wood and I was going to need the whole extremely large area replaced. I called Randy at Finmark and he said, after he had inspected the area, he could match the wood flooring and replace the tile with a nicer one. His price was remarkably less than the other quotes. When the job was completed I was really delighted, the wood was exactly the same and the tile looked wonderful. I don't usually Yelp my delight at the work carried out for me but this time I had to do it. read more
