An absolute MUST. It is located in a small little town with a brick road. The restaurant is in an old bank and has seating for about 40 people. The food... the food was fabulous. GET IN YOUR CAR AND DRIVE TO DODGE, NE. Now. OMG. It's a bit longer than an hour from Omaha and this treasure, tucked away in wee Dodge, NE is a magical place. Eat Restaurant was created in the old bank space -- complete with a small dining area for couples or perhaps four in the vault! Beautifully decorated and perfectly appointed, this spot is a must for your Bucket List. Chef Michael's lunch for us (we asked him to make whatever he thought we should try on our first trek to Eat) were a PERFECTLY grilled cheeseburger and parmesan fries for me and a "griddled" club for my friend. No common Club sandwich here, my friends -- real meats and all of them griddled before building the sandwich. Oh my! Dessert was a German Chocolate cake/ice cream, who could have asked for more? So I have been traveling to the Snyder /Fremont area pretty often(I am from Jackson/MI) and have been concerned about decent food. When I saw the reviews saying people were coming from Omaha here - I was somewhat doubtful that folks would travel that far to come to Dodge a town of 612! Well I now know why ! Food was awesome - wait staff showed a phenomenal sense of urgency. I had gone right at high lunch as did probably 20ish other folks so they were full in rush busy. Took about 15 minutes to get my food - had the Michael burger - a fork and knife kinda one. It was delicious! And speaking of forks and knives- I actual texted my wife back in Michigan a picture of the silverware- nice hefty stuff - cheap light stuff is a pet peeve of mine! I will be back! read more

After seeing the great write up in the OWH, I was intrigued and since my husband's family is from stanton, stopping in dodge for dinner is right on the way. Omahans- if you are up for the drive, it is worth it to make a trip. The building itself is very appealing which once functioned as a bank on the 1920s and I am happy to see much of the original charm has been restored including dining tables available in the old vault. They have a number of beef options on the menu and I learned all beef comes from a 60 mile radius. My husband ordered the strip and I the pasta with beef tips. Both were delicious with great flavor. I also appreciated the time they take to craft their homemade mixers - bloody Mary's, lemonade, etc. not something you find everywhere. My reason for 4 stars is the price point. We were with our children and while I feel this restaurant is better to enjoy without kids (which frankly all restaurants are better without kids) they do offer a kids menu. each kids meal is $10...most kids meals in Omaha are $4-$7 and include a drink. This did not include drinks so another $3.50 was added on for a total of about $14 per kid. My husband's and i's entrees were between $24-$30 each. Overall though, leave the kids at home and find some time to make the trip. read more

So we had been wanting to come here for a few weeks after reading all the reviews about this place. Finally drove here last night THE GOOD:The bread they gave us was great. It goes really well with the vinegar they serve it with. The food is also great. I had the duck which was very fresh, definitely not frozen. It was very very flavorful, not bland at all. The pudding was great, and i really appreciate the chef using a substitute for the cranberry glaze. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and she gave it a 4/5. A friend ordered the NY strip. She also gave it a 4/5. The food is locally sourced and definitely fresh, not frozen like you would get from your chain restaurants. The service was very fast. I did not time it but i would say about 20 minutes. We really appreciated having the chef come out and talk to us in person. He is very proper and professional and probably didn't appreciate us eating in our winter coats but it was 11 degrees out. THE BAD: Ok, this is not necessarily a bad thing but in my opinion it was a little overpriced. I have been to very nice restaurants in different places from KC to upstate NY and this was more expensive. $29 for the duck, $27 for the NY strip and $19 for the chicken. I had schnitzel and spetzel with good german beer in a small bavarian restaurant up in the mountains for less than this. We will not be coming back for dinner but we will try to come back to try the lunch menu. It has "$" but dinner is more like "$$ - $$$" Also, the menu, it was very limited. Duck, ny strip, chicken, pasta and maybe one other thing and they only had 1 ny strip left. I understand it's locally sourced but on a friday night? OVERALL: I give my overall experience here a 4/5. Drove there from Lincoln - 1.5 hours distant - after reading rave reviews. Eat did not disappoint. Beats anything in Lincoln and perhaps Omaha too. Amazing from the liver pate appetizer through the main courses (duck and salmon) to our desserts. Only quibble: the chairs were not very comfortable. The bottom line is that the food is great and ask them directly what the price of the item is when the waitstaff up sells you to something off the menu (Buyer Beware).. This review is from my attendance at this lovely restaurant last night. I had a lovely meal with my sister in law, we had the delicious sausage appetizer, we split a salad, which was more than enough for 2 people as an additional starter. My sister in law had the amazing veal dish, which I also would recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to go to this restaurant. My one issue had to do with my choice of my meal, the wait staff explained that they had a special steak for the night that was not on the menu. As I enjoy meat, I was told the special steak that was 2 oz more than the standard steak, I was not told that this steak they called a feature cut and that the price would be 3 times the price of the 14 oz steak already on the menu for the night. Imagine my surprise when i received the bill. I am frustrated by the lack of transparency on this item on their menu, as there was no way i would have ordered this pricey 2 oz more of meat. When asked for more clarification on this price this morning, the restaurant stated, that it was a special cut of meat, that my not asking the waitress how much it cost was my fault, and discussing the price before you purchase something with the waitstaff made some diners uncomfortable so they don't tell you the price (although everything else on the menu has a price which must also make the patrons uncomfortable when they read it as well) read more

The restaurant itself is located in the old bank of small town Dodge, NE. It has a cozy ambiance and a great staff. Came here with a group. Very intimate dinner and the food was amazing. I had the prime rib, friends had the special which was Duck. Food was spectacular. Prime was "melt in your mouth" good and cooked to perfection. Nephew had the chicken fried steak platter and was more than an 15 year old could eat. We got two of the desserts to share. Wish we would have gotten all of them. If you are in the area, stop in and experience some great food. read more

Our second visit to this Resturant and our first opinion was just cemented. We had reservations which we highly recommend. Another couple came in behind us with no reservation and were told it would be a 1 1/2 hour wait. Service is perfect. Food prep is perfect. Attention to every detail is perfect. Seven of us dined at Eat on a Friday evening in August 2018. We were one of three tables at 7 p.m. and received prompt, friendly, helpful service. Collectively we ordered duck breast on greens, steak and shrimp with egg and bacon, bouillabaisse, and one of the large steaks. Everything was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and unforgettably good. My duck breast had a flavorful sear and the interior was was tender, moist, not at all fatty. The bed of young mixed greens was prepared with a lovely dressing and included tiny potatoes and fresh cherries. It was an inspired combination, with the greens providing a refreshing counterpoint to the meat. Everyone else was highly satisfied with their meals and with their wines and drinks. We finished the evening with a peach cobbler, a blueberry and nectarine pie, and a bread pudding. The coffee was bright and fresh. What a treasure! read more

3 steaks and 2 sizes of prime rib are on the menu. The meat is locally sourced and very tasty. Tablecloths, good wine list, and apple pie for tonight's pie of the night. I had the pork chop, and it was delicious. The menu all looks great, the staff attentive, and the chef checks to make sure everything is good. It is worth a drive. A quaint small town restaurant with plenty of potential. We drove 65 miles to check it out on a recent Friday night. The menu was very interesting and our waiter friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they were understaffed and service was subpar as a result. We ordered their rabbit, quail and prime rib. Rabbit and quail were both delicious but the prime rib was tough and tasteless. It was ordered with a baked potato with butter but came with sour cream. It took 10 minutes for someone to come back to our table before we could ask for one with butter. By the time it finally arrived we had finished the prime rib as bad as it was. We also asked for drink refills but took 15 minutes to get them. In a nutshell, I would not go back unless staff was added which would have made the experience much better. Just don't get the prime rib! TT read more

Stopped here for breakfast a few Saturdays ago and was very impressed with the food. I had the classic breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy. The chef puts a twist of the gravy which really was a nice surprise and an incredible flavor. Also had one of the pancakes with thier own toffee syurp. This was huge and very good. The Chef came out after a bit and asked how everthing was and we had a nice chat with him. If you are looking for a great breakfast in an out of the way place I highly reccomend you give this place a try. We want to make the trip back some time soon for Dinner as well. Eat is no big deal. Place was packed and very loud on a Friday night. Food was late coming out of kitchen. Food allergy (celiac) request for gluten free was ignored. We picked off croutons on salad, however grain on salad is Farro, a type of wheat, so salad was inedible. No gluten free options on dessert menu. When chef came out and asked how our meal was, we said it was not good and he argued with us. Was going to give it two stars however my wine glass has been empty since before the salad came out. read more

Amazing food.. Something you don't typically get in a small town.. Made the 45 minute trip there and it is completely worth it.. First the grab cakes started it off tremendously.. I had the fish and chips, beautifully cooked , quality fish.. Best i have had state side.. My girlfriend had a smoked salmon dish that was also great! Nice atmosphere... We were looking for a fun little cafe on a Sunday road trip out to the family farm. Eat delivered, and more! The restaurant used to be a bank, and so the details of the building were fascinating! Came here with the family for a Saturday night dinner after reading the review on Omaha.com. We were a few minutes early and the hostess asked us to wait until exactly our reservation time so that the kitchen could stay on the cadence. That wasn't a problem, we walked around outside for about five minutes. I do have to admit I was a bit surprised at how little there was in the town, I had sort of imagined a town with small shops and local stores but everything is really shut down and this is one of the few things in Dodge. Nevertheless the drive was nice I'm in an area that we would not have normally seen. It's a small place so definitely make sure you call ahead for reservations. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the ribeye steak which was just amazing and reasonably priced at $27. There was homemade bread, and a fantastic Reuben fondue which I it's hard to describe but tasted amazing. Even the teenage boys were happy. I will definitely go back. It isn't a fast meal, it's a place to slow down and relax and let the meal come to you as it is ready. Drink a glass of wine, and enjoy some amazing food. read more

THIS RESTAURANT IS A WASTE OF MONEY, TIME AND GAS!!!! Eat Restaurant in Dodge, Nebraska was very disappointing, to say the least. It was over an hour away for us and half a tank of gas, but we had read about it in the Omaha World Herald, so 6 of us decided to try it. I called, ask to see the menu online and to make our reservation; response "we do not put a menu online as our menu can change daily" seemed odd, should have been fair warning to me. Restaurant was not busy, for a Friday evening. First, one person wanted a glass of Merlot wine. The only option for this wine was to buy a whole bottle for $106. Other wines were priced at $10/glass. 2 people ordered red beer; she brought out 2 very small cream pitcher sizes of tomato juice for them to pour into their beer. She brought out plates and bread. 6 pieces of what they called bread, I would call it a coffee cake consistency. Each of the 6 pieces were the size of a small mini muffin, I'm not kidding you. I asked for more bread, she picked up the plates and said "she would check on getting us more bread"; the bread never came and no explanation either. Bread is the cheapest thing you can serve a customer!!!! We all ordered prime rib, which was good not exceptional, cost was $27 (Prime Rib & Potatoe with 4 pieces of asparagus on the top). We were shocked this item did not include a salad; lettuce salad was additional. Two of us asked for more butter as our baked potatoes were dry, even with sour cream on them. Waitress said "the potatoes already have butter on them, if you want more butter it will be $1.50 each additional"!!!! We said forget it!!!! Never, ever have we been turned down at any Prime Rib restaurant, when asking for bread and butter!!!!! She brought our bills, all 3 bills were wrong/overcharged and they added on an additional 20% gratuity for a party of 6, unbelievable!!!! Not for this type of service!!!! My sister made a reservation for us siblings here for lunch. It was FABULOUS. I had a club sandwich and my bigest complaint with sandwiches that they use uneventful bread. This was homemade bread that brought all of the ingredients together. Then was surprised to find out that my sister had preordered the creme brulee for all of us---best creme brulee I have ever had--crunchy top, silky smooth & creamy inside...just wonderful. This restaurant is worth the drive from wherever you are coming from. Decor is nice.....Love to come to dinner sometime when I am back visiting. Thanks for such a wonderful lunch!!!! Susan B read more
