Needless to say, we both said that it was the best burger/patty melt that we have ever had. It is a cute small town bar and the prices were very reasonable. She was friendly and efficient and made sure the front of the house ran smoothly. She told us about how they were going to add some outdoor space and create a little beer garden next door. Sounded like a good place and a sign that business must be good. We didn't get any food but the menu looked good and varied. The stuff coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked tasty too. Cocktails were standard but it's hard to mess up a rum and Coke. Go visit the Bulldog Roadhouse if you're ever in the area.

Red Rooster was rated by Yelp a year ago as having the best fried chicken in Nebraska. It was really that good! So I thought the best test of the new restaurant would be the fried chicken. I ordered the 4 piece with mashed potatoes and white gravy. Unfortunately it was disappointing. The breading was off and it was way too salty. On this night it was NOT the best fried chicken in Nebraska. The homemade white gravy was over-salted and tasted out of a jar, unlike the delicious homemade gravy Ron made when it was Red Rooster. Two people at our table said the same about the meatloaf and dark gravy. The gravy was also over-salted and it didn't taste homemade. Service was unusually clunky and we only saw one regular server. Everyone else was new. The decor in the Restaurant was different too. Not bad but just different. I'm hoping this was a one off experience because we really liked the Red Rooster. I'm not sure why the new owners of Route 77 made so many changes to a successful restaurant that was already working well. I hope they figure it out. Last night it was not worth the trip from Lincoln to Ceresco.

And it's comes with a side of country gravy just like chicken fried steak, how could I not try a special burger like that.... And I was not disappointed! It was wonderful, so juicy and flavorful, with the breading surrounding a hand made patty, dipped into that thick, got peppery gravy.... So, so, so good. My wife chose the mushroom Swiss Burger and tots. She couldn't finish the whole burger, it was a big Burger with lots of tots, so I got to try it. She had be reaching about it all the time we were eating, as was I about my burger, and I wasn't sure I could eat the small little sliver she had left but she gave it to me to try and, wow.... It was really as good as what I got. So much cheese and mushrooms, and the burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you find yourself out near Fremont Nebraska, close to a one horse town named Nickerson, with a bar and grill named the One Horse Saloon, stop and eat.... Don't pass this place up. Btw....as we were getting ready to leave, the couple next to us ordered ribs, and I almost say back down for another meal. So many great choices.... We have got to come back here.
