Reserved some bikes from Eaton's. Wanted to change to a different bike that they didn't have available. Found it available elsewhere but Eaton would not let us out of our reservation saying it was high season (over new years). Went to pickup the bikes and the really great guy at the counter said we were luck to have a reservation, they were sold out. If they were sold out, why wouldn't they have let us out of the reservation? Returned the bikes a few days early due to lousy weather. Two days later I got a call from Eaton asking if we'd like to extend our reservation. Clueless is the only work I can come up with. read more

We had a somewhat negative experience with Eaton bikes. We needed to rent a bike trailer for our 5 year old son. We had rented a trailer from Island Bikes (see other review) but needed to return it because Island Bikes was closing for vacation and would not reopen before our stay in Key West ended. On the phone, Eaton Bikes made a big deal about not attaching their trailers to bikes rented from other bike shops, which wasn't the case with us, since our bikes came with our vacation rental. When we arrived, rather than getting the normal hitch attachment so that we could remove the trailer when not needed, they bolted the trailer onto the bike. I asked one guy why they didn't provided hitches, but he gave a gruff answer and was a bit condescending about it, basically that I couldn't be trusted with a removable trailer hitch and the trailer would get stolen. Strange, because Island Bikes provided both a hitch AND a cable lock for their trailer which we used religiously. They weren't very nice behind the counter either and my wife, who is usually easy going and gets along with everyone, was actually a bit put out by their unfriendly attitude. Add to that the fact that their trailer was not a Burley and was not as comfortable, with a hard wooden bench instead of a comfy suspended fabric seat AND it cost more than Island Bikes, and it was clear to us as we were bicycling away to the shop that we would never rent from them again. read more

We rented the bicycles for a week to save money. We called the phone # on the brochure at 650 PM, (they close at 7PM) and they were willing to bring the bikes right over :) We were given a 10% military discount. 2 Beach cruisers, helmets, locks, bike lights and great service for $110 :) The guy who brought the bikes was very friendly. They are very polite on the phone and have a hugs selection of different bikes. I will never rent a car here in Key West when I can get a bike. We ride atleast twice a day from the hotel and it is a great way to get around the island... read more

Not many people go above and beyond for their customers anymore. I had my bike assembled at Eaton a month ago. Last night I managed to reset the lock combination mid-lock. The next day when I went to inquire about borrowing bolt cutters, they picked it up and dropped it off at my house. I love these guys! I'll use them for everything bike related rom now on. read more

Eaton Bikes runs an efficient and friendly operation. They fitted our bikes on rental and sent us on our way. Extending and adding on to our rental was care free. The location is perfect as it is only a block away from the long term parking garage on Grinnell and Caroline Streets. We expect to rent bikes from Eaton again. Great service! read more

These are some of the most knowledgeable bike mechanics I have run across. And Chris provides fabulous customer service. I was 150 miles in to a 300 mile ride, stopping in Key West. I needed help with a pannier rack that a mechanic in another city had put on my bike and it did not work. Chris and his team actually fabricated parts and custom fit a new rack to my bike. They sent me on my way with a rack that was safer, stronger and color matched to my bike. They go above and beyond! Place has a gratuitous amount of bicycles for rent. Very very cheap to rent. In my experience, I found the seat to be uncomfortable but I am sure that it could have been an easy fix for them. read more

They made renting bikes so easy with zero stress. They dropped them off at our condo really fast and had everything we'd need to be safe. They took the time to make sure the bikes were adjusted properly they'll even do roadside assistance if needed. Their rates were great and they came and picked the bikes up in just as seamless a process, we didn't even have to be around after we called to let them know where the bikes were locked up. Got off work a little early took the bike down to the parking lot felt the Bulge in the back tire noticed the tire was dry rotted and fixing to get out parked at Caroline's garage buzzed on over to Eaton bikes to drop it off pick it up tomorrow or have it delivered. The what appears that he had mechanic at Eaton bike about five foots I don't know 8 150 170 pounds was in the process of explaining to me how much I was in the way his business being productive and that's letting the air out of my back tire and the 10 seconds that it would take to do that was too inconvenient to be polite. As I start to move my bike out of the quote on quote way that it was in the mechanic cancel my repair order because he knew that his treatment of me wood be most rewarded by me leaving. The mechanic continued to braid me as I sat out for the establishment posting my comments on Yelp. I remember when this business first opened in Key West about six or seven years ago I have been coming here on the extremely rare occasion I don't have the time to do work myself. Will not be visiting this venue anymore. Just a recap I wasn't in the establishment for more than three and a half minutes. that guy was extremely rude from the very moment I engaged him. I started to speak and cracked my funny bone on a countertop and started to have a small fit about the pain and the guy just walked away from the conversation. read more

I rented a bike from Eaton a couple of weeks ago. Great transaction all around. I booked online - very easy. I phoned with some questions - very easy. They even called me to offer additional information. I bought my own pedals for their mechanic to install - very easy. Height adjustment - very easy. I hope you get the picture ;) Upon collecting "my bike" they gave me a summary of the Key West Rules of Biking...very helpful. Their hours are great, as is their service policy. I needed to rent a small bicycle while my young niece was visiting. They have smaller bikes- good point. They do NOT deliver to Stock Island- bad point. When returning the bike, after finding a parking spot 2 blocks away, and lugging the bike in 93 degree heat, I entered the shop to return it. The English woman at the counter told me I needed to bring it to the rear of the store. Ugg. Ok as I went to the rear of the store, she started to cop an attitude- bad point. Clear misunderstanding- not license to be rude to someone she presumed to be a tourist- bad point. They have previously done work on my bike- always good work. Their prices are a little higher than some, but their hours are better. So.....three stars. read more

He gave me a precise time as to how long the parts I need would take to arrive, where they were coming from, as well as the cost. Stopped in yesterday with 8 of us and 4 purchased all kinds of things for their bikes. There were 2 bells, 1 seat and a cup holder. They were sent out back and everything was on and we were off in 10 minutes or less. They are very helpful up front on purchasing what you need and not just selling to sell. Full service bike shop with rentals and repairs. Got a screw in my front tire on a Saturday morning beach ride. When I arrived for the repair there were several technicians ready to fix the tire. Have used Eaton every year we come to Key West. Delivery service works well when booking bikes. Pickup service is very poor. If you book and have them pick up have a few hours to wait. Bikes are well maintained and new. Other than the delivery service I would use them again the rating of 2 stars is because of customer service. read more

Rented two bikes for our stay in Key West. The staff worked hard to get us our bikes, meeting us at a restaurant when they couldn't initially deliver to our hotel. They were extremely helpful setting up the bikes and gave just the right amount of advice on how to handle biking in key west. The bikes themselves were very solid, no issues. They come with lights, baskets, locks, and are just perfect. While we did not get helmets with our bikes, I was totally comfortable riding in Key West without one.
