We rented their Trek FX3 (Performance Hybrid) which were properly adjusted for our heights and were far more enjoyable to ride than the standard (slow) beach cruiser. Many of the hotels in Key West have shuttles that go to the Waterfront Brewery--this is a short walk from there. You'll want to make a reservation in advance as the performance bikes are in high demand. read more

There are bike lanes on SOME roads, but not all, and many drivers don't or can't give bicyclists the three feet we deserve. It's dangerous, especially near Duval Street. Very happy with our bike rental from Eaton Bikes! Our condo that we rented came with a discount coupon for this shop so we decided to put it to good use. We rented 1 men's cruiser and 1 women's cruiser for 2 days each. With the coupon this came to about 48 dollars. I thought this was a tad pricey but probably comparable to other shops in the area. I like that you can book them ahead of time online so all you have to do is pop into the store to grab them. The employees at the store were very friendly and helped us right away. It took less than 5 minutes and we were on our way biking around Key West! The bikes both came with a bike lock, a basket that was big enough for some beach gear, and lights in case of night riding. We dropped them off the morning we were leaving which took less than a minute. We loved riding around Key West and would definitely rent again next time! read more

I really had fun--biking is the best way to get around Key West. Our bikes were delivered to us, and we were staying on base. (Spillover lot, before security checkpoint) We were also able to arrange a drop off from the same place. Included were helmets, locks, and lights. Every bike has a front basket. I really wanted to like these guys but have had two really bad experiences in a row (once at each location) that has made me stop using them. First, when I got a flat tire they were great in that they had it done in a few hours, but the technician had not reconnected the brakes which almost caused me to get into an accident. When I returned, minutes later there was no apology...nada The next time was recently when my brakes had needed work. When the repair was done I had someone else pay and bring the bike home in a truck. It wasn't till the next day that I realized they hadn't really done anything and I still couldn't brake. Does anyone check their work anymore? When I confronted them they said I'd need all new brakes and weren't going to credit what I'd already paid them. I just get a bit of an attitude from these guys and see why so many locals have stopped using them. read more

I'm a local and took my boyfriend (visiting from Denver) over to get a two week rental. Staff was courteous, bike was in fair condition (little rusty on close inspection but what isn't here?) and worked just fine, did not get hassled about return time, and I got a little local discount. Price for two weeks was approximately $100, about 10-20 off the normal price. Not huge, but that's a couple of beers! Only weird thing was that we returned the bike at noon, and at around two, the same girl we turned the bike into called and said she was reminding us that our rental was due that day.......so uh, maybe minus one star for lack of organization? Then again at least you get a courtesy call. Really not a big deal and I'd go back anytime. I'll also mention that at multiple times I've been in the neighborhood with a low tire and they've been super happy to hook me up with air free of charge right away even when they were technically closed at night. So, they can have their fifth star back. :-) read more

First off, if you're planning a visit to Key West, I strongly recommend you rent a bike to see the Old Town area. The terrain is pancake flat, traffic is generally negotiable (motorists have to stop for errant roosters, for Pete's sake!) and parking is so spotty that a bike may get you in the door much quicker than a car. You will ride right to the front door of anyplace you want to go, while your four-wheeled brethren are circling like vultures, stalking that rarest of endangered species, an empty parking space. Eaton Bikes is a bit pricey compared to some of the alternatives, and that almost cost them a star in my book. On the plus side, they were friendly, the bikes were in great shape, and they are a big part of the KW community. At the time we visited, Eaton and The Studios of Key West collaborated on an awesome "rideable art" fundraiser. Artists decorated bikes, and they were placed all over town. This level of community involvement is laudable, and it earns Eaton my coveted five star rating! read more

We had zero problems with the bikes and we were able to drop the bikes off early the morning we were leaving, just before they opened, by locking the bikes up outside the store and utilizing their key drop box. I have lived close to Eaton Bikes for the last 3 years and I've always been impressed with how wonderful the owners and staff are. They go out of their way to give back to the community, are always accommodating and really want their customers to have the best Key West experience. Whenever I have visitors and they need to rent a bike Eaton Bikes is the one and only place I would go! And just as a small note, the "gentleman", and I do use that term loosely, that was displeased with their service, well, I was there that day and while I did not see the whole exchange, I did see the end - and the staff was doing their best to be calm and courteous while he was loud, rude and completely out of control. I rented 5 bikes for my sister's bachelorette last weekend and cannot get over the TOP TIER service Chris and his crew provided. Reserving online was so easy and I didn't have to worry about a thing. They delivered the bikes to our hotel, texted me a photo of them all locked up, and let me know the locks were programmed and lights already on the bikes. Around day 3 we discovered one bike had a flat tire. I called Eaton and I'm not kidding in 8 minutes (8!!!!!!!!!) Chris personally rode it over and swapped it out for the flat one. When I asked if we should hang on to the old lock he said "nope I already have a new one programmed for you". Unreal service. I personally live in Key West and this will now be the only place I recommend to everyone visiting the island. Beyond top notch. With all the planning I did for the bach, not having to lift a finger or worry about returning the bikes (they picked them up from same place at our hotel the last day) was a dream! We've used these guys for bike rental for the past three trips to KW, and I there's no reason for us to go elsewhere. The staff at the Eaton St. location has been laid back and friendly every year. The bikes are in great shape and the rental price is very reasonable. We used to rent scooters, especially when we'd stay at the Doubletree out near the airport. Staying in Old Town now, it's not necessary to have a scooter and bike racks are WAY easier to find compared with scooter parking. We had a brief interaction with the staff at the Southard St location this time around, when we finally decided to stop by and get a sticky padlock replaced on our way to the beach at Ft. Zach. Nice staff there, replaced the lock on the spot, asked if we were having a great time in KW and if there was anything else we needed. Nope...we were ok. Our B&B is close to Eaton, but they have delivery and pickup if you want it. Good operation with helpful staff. What else could we ask for? read more
