Just WOW! Small but mighty specialty cheese, meat, and deli store, we randomly popped in on our way to Minnesota. Over 35 years of hand making sandwiches with local meat, cheese, and produce, was blown away with the selections. Tons of gift and hosting items, meat and cheese cases with lots of gourmet treats. The staff was incredible, made some lovely recommendations and certainly created a note worthy memory. A modest place in Eau Claire that i would consider to be the best sandwich that i had by far. They have a wide selection of cheese and snacks. Their fridge is stocked with cool drinks that i wanted to try but i couldn't take it with me (rushing ro the airport after). As soon as you enter the place, all you see is shelves of good stuff! Everyone loves the sandwiches here, and deservedly so, but don't ignore the soup options. While some of them are pretty standard, they are all very good. The brie & mushroom is a particular favorite of mine, but I have yet to have a soup there that I did not enjoy. And, of course, make sure to grab some cheese while you are there. A huge selection of cheese, crackers and other charcuterie and accoutrements as well. They also had 8 ice cream options! We tried the Rueben - great 1000 Island and perfect ratios of sauce to kraut to beef. I tried the Spicy Claire which had chicken breast and jalapeños and it was delicious!! Nice little kick of spice. Once an Eau Claire staple, "Nelson's," with that old, iconic, nostalgia inducing sign with retro brown, orange and yellow, was the place to go for the best cheese curds. I'm not sure what corner of Pinterest the owners got stuck in, but how do you not know that terrible wedding script is 10 years too late? Nostalgia is the world's most powerful branding tool and you had it on your side!! A real let down to see EC staples cave to the power of fickle trends. No stars, Extremely disapointed with this place. I ordered fresh cheese curds the ones that come in the fresh sack bags 2 years ago 2 different times. They arrived fine and fresh. I ordered more cheese curds few weeks ago and when I called I asked SPECIFICALLY not in the vaccume seal bag as they change the flavor and texture of the curds. They tell me they will send fresh ones on that following Monday when they come in. Well my mom gets an email they have been shipped that saturday, very strange, and they my mom calls me and saying they are vaccum sealed! Gross!! Will not even eat these. I called and the manager tells me they stopped doing them in the fresh bags due to being tampered with in shipping. It would of been nice to tell me this before I placed the order and my mom spent over $55 on gross cheese curds! What a waste of money.They taste fake, ask before you order. The store if an outlet of the Nelson Cheese Factory located about an hour away in the town of Nelson, WI. It's a small shop with a small parking lot, but the selection of cheese inside is one of the biggest one will find in Eau Claire. Just about all of it is made by Nelson, but I think I saw some rarer types that were made by a third, but I may have been mistaken. In addition to cheeses, they also have deli meats and make hot and cold sandwiches to order. They also offer party trays and have gift boxes for sale (of which I ordered some this Christmas). In the winter they have soups and also have ice cream for sale all year around. It's a nice locally operated business that I find myself going to pretty often for their high quality selection of meats and cheeses. It seems pretty popular because the place is busy daily around noon and after 5 PM. read more

They have yummy goodies out to sample that convince you to buy curds, summer sausage, everything!
