Had a water heater that started leaking. Eli came out and said that it would require a new water heater, however, he did a Band-Aid fix to get by for a couple days until the new water heater came in that I had him install. That Band-Aid fix was $150, in addition to the cost of the new water heater and having it installed a couple days later. I would've hoped that considering I was buying the water heater and having it installed through him that he could applied the cost of that Band-Aid fix towards the new water heater and install. You know, just maybe a little discount for using him for both services. $150 for a fix that was only used for two days doesn't sound like a good deal to me. read more

Overpriced. Eric came out on short notice for a broken toilet. However, he wanted to charge me over $550 to fix a broken toilet shut off valve plus new fill valve in the tank. I was shocked at the cost and he said that he has a minimum charge for just showing up and I could get someone else to do the fix. Then he said he would charge $96 for diagnosing the problem. But he never said anything about the $96 over the phone before he came. That is just wrong. He ended up doing it for $450. Should have been $250 for the minimal work, time, and product involved. Excellent Customer Service! We had a sudden and severe faucet leak that developed; and just before a long weekend, no less. I contacted my regular plumber who was, not surprisingly, unavailable until the next Tuesday. We needed help! The faucet was not just dripping, it was running and clearly more than our unskilled efforts could repair. My go-to for sudden emergency help was the Yelp community; it did not disappoint. I chose EB Plumbing based on its customer ratings (first and foremost) and next its proximity to me. I always hold my breath when I go outside of my regular providers, but Eli, the principal plumber, was great! On our call, he told me that he was committed to another job that morning, but that he would swing by, take a look to see if he could stop it or slow it down, go to his scheduled appointment, then come back in the afternoon to finish mine up. I was stunned! He was going WAY beyond what I had experienced with other new contractors. He came exactly when he said he would (promptness is very important to me), assessed the leak and told me that he was heading out to buy the part he needed. Even over my protestations, because I knew he had a scheduled appointment that I really didn't want him to be late for, he declared that he could fix my problem with the necessary part and still make it to his appointment on time. He also said that he didn't want me to have to go all day long without having access to running water in the house. We had to turn the main water valve off, because of the amount of water we were losing because of the leak. Eli found the original brand part, not an after market piece, and fixed the leak really quickly. I was SO grateful and he was SO kind and considerate. This is a rare quality in contractors these days; at least the ones I've had to deal with. Bottom line: EB Plumbing was prompt, true to their word, efficient, fast, skilled, polite, personable and considerate (did I mention that he cleared the trap of hair too?!) 3 days without water, 3 failed repair attempts (the pipes literally broke apart ALL THREE TIMES when we turned the water back on), $500 literally down the drain... This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had with any repairman, ever. When we called a professional plumber to fix his mistakes they said it looked like he hadn't even used any cement on some of the pipe joints (which is why they didn't hold together). They fixed the pipes in 8 hours without any issues... When I called Eli and told him that his repair failed for the third time he said that "outside plumbing" wasn't his specialty. EB showed up on time; same day I called to fix a broker shower mixing valve that had our shower down for five days ! I had called three local companies prior (two scheduled and changed three times; another never called back). Called EB on advise of Cal Steam in Emeryville as I went there to buy new part (saves Plumber time and you $). Called EB at 10am; he called back a little after 11 am ! He scheduled me for 2pm the same day; said it might be later if he ran it to trouble at current job. Showed up early ( after phone call); very COVID sensitive; very professional and friendly. The gardener had caused a pipe burst when uprooting an old dead tree, then turned off the mains and left. When I came home from work there was no water, anywhere. Believe it or not, Eli Benshushan is the man of your dreams. Professional, older man-candy and very personable. Our water heater sprung a leak. Eli told me he was in the middle of a project he could not leave, but gave me a timeframe when I could expect him to come replace my water heater. He was prompt and efficient in draining the old heater and replacing it with a new comparable one. He was trying to pack to go on vacation, but when it seemed the new heater was not staying lit properly, he purchased another one and came and swapped it out so we would be comfortable and not have to deal with finding another plumber in his absence. Turned out not to be a faulty heater, but he was very patient and considerate in helping us resolve our heater issues after installing #2 even though he needed to be at home packing for his scheduled trip. I've had EB plumbing come do several plumbing repairs in the short time I've lived in El Sobrante. Twice for a backed up toilet and once for a sink issue. Eli has always arrived very quickly. He has always fixed the issue right away. His costs are reasonable. My only issue is.... when he starts his work he puts on DIRTY used gloves. They are disposable gloves that appear to be used several times before his tosses them. During his repairs he ends up touching several surfaces in my home and the area that he is working, such as door knobs, walls, faucets, light switches. So after he leaves I always have to do a full sanitation of everything he has touched. I hate to think what could be on those gloves. I wish he would use new gloves at each job. read more

i bought a house last christmas and now (2+ months later) i found dripping from the ceiling of my garage and which is right under my master bathroom. the first plumber (not EB Plumbing) told me there was no easy fix because the the leak had been a while and appeared coming from numerous cracks between the shower tiles/walls so i had to pull out my old shower and install a new one. he said such a remodel would typically cost $10,000-$30,000 (and 2-3 weeks) depending on the scope and quality. then i called EB Plumbing for a second opinion. Eli came and took a look and told me that my problem was not that serious and he was confident my problem could be fixed by caulking/sealing ($250-$300) all the cracks and the fix should be good for several years. Two days later, Eli's wife Racheli, an sculpture artist, came and did a beautiful caulking (most likely one wouldn't notice if i don't tell her/him). And then four days later Racheli came again and did sealing. Then I waited another four days before turning the shower back on and found no more leak. i feel confident about Eli and Racheli's work and of course will have to keep my eyes on my garage ceiling all the time. read more
