The biggest positive is the location. You can see the promenade and beach from the window, the room looks reasonably clean when you first walk in, and the beds are not actively hostile. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience felt like paying more than $300 a night to participate in a humidity endurance challenge. There is no air conditioning, and the windows open just enough to remind you that fresh air exists somewhere outside. We had to leave the room door open and crack the windows just to make the room remotely comfortable. At night, our options were: 1. Close everything and slowly become steamed vegetables. 2. Open the windows and listen to the promenade's nightlife until morning. The soundproofing appears to consist mainly of hope. The room was also "surface clean," meaning it looked fine until you started using your eyes. The walls and doors had visible grime, the bathroom caulking was peeling up in several places, and there was some kind of mysterious yellow residue running down the bathroom door. I do not know what it was, and I would like to return to a time when I had never seen it. The fireplace did not work, but it did successfully take up space. The Internet cuts out so frequently it isn't worth it trying to connect to it. The shower curtain seemed morally opposed to keeping water inside the shower. The water temperature offered two settings: arctic research station and lawsuit. The shampoo and conditioner also left my hair feeling like it had been punished for something. The toilet barely flushed. You had to stand there holding the handle and encouraging it like a nervous child at a school recital. "Come on, you can do it. Just a little more." For this price, I did not expect to have to provide emotional support to the plumbing. There also appeared to be possible black mold on the bathroom walls and shower curtain, which really completed the room's 'indoor swamp' aesthetic. The room description advertised a full-size refrigerator in the kitchenette. We spent some time wondering whether the full-size refrigerator was invisible. What we actually received was a mini fridge smaller than the one in my bedroom at home. The room was also advertised as sleeping five people. Where would the fifth person sleep? The bathtub? The nonworking fireplace? Suspended from the ceiling? We only had two people, and even then I would say the room could realistically accommodate a couple with two children or perhaps two couples. Advertising it for five people feels wildly optimistic. Then there was the price. We booked through Expedia for $211 per night and paid the deposit. When we arrived, the hotel charged us $315 per night. When we raised the issue, the response was essentially, "We have nothing to do with that." Apparently the hotel is involved enough with Expedia to accept the reservation, but not involved enough to care when the price suddenly increases by more than $100 per night. Had we known the actual price, we could have booked a much nicer hotel with luxuries such as air conditioning, clean doors, accurate room descriptions, and perhaps even a shower temperature located somewhere between freezing and boiling. I also texted the hotel several times asking for help and received no response. The silence was impressive. We will never stay here again. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and easily the most expensive opportunity I have had to sleep in a hot, humid room while listening to strangers outside. read more

What a shit show!. We reserved a room that was ADA compliant and pet friendly. I am in a chair so it's very difficult for me to get around. When we showed up the Desk clerk said that they were sold out and it was because of an Elks convention. Big Doug and found one room that was not taken, but it was not ADA compliant. At this point we had no choice but to take it because we were already there and it was too late to book elsewhere. I had a hard time with this room because it had a step over tub to take a shower, a toilet that was mounted low on the floor that was hard to get up from and the pressure of the shower was a fire hose and was not adjustable. The sinks outside the bathroom to wash your hands. The water got so hot. It burned my hands. I have neuropathy in my hands so for that to happen, it had to be incredibly hot. The microwave door was broken. We put something in it and could not open the door back up. They said maintenance to our room, which I have to say arrived quickly, but he forced the door open and said it had a child block on it. When he left, we tried to open it, and it wouldn't open i again. So are cup of water we were heating stayed with the room. This room was also above the pool. Between the party and the kids screaming in the pool till late at night we could not have our slider door open. It was way too loud. They booked the Elks convention in the two rooms next to us. They were screaming and hollering and partying till 1230 at night finally by 1 AM. People left and we could try to get some sleep. We complained about the noise in the front desk clerk, her name was Jennifer and was a delight, so she found an additional room that we could use because the one that we were in was already booked to somebody else the next day. We moved one floor up, but it was directly above the party. Still noisy, still fleet and was not appreciated one bit. The next day we checked out. I will not stay here again. If Jennifer hadn't been so helpful, we would've demanded our money back. So kudos to her and i to Ebb Tide! read more

Ebb Tide was fine. It was clean. It was as close to the beach as you can get. It's old, but clean. No elevator. Breakfast was there. But for someone who doesn't eat sugar or white flour it was slim Pickings. And the coffee was bad. And I get it that that's not the priority but when everything else at breakfast wa a disappointment (scrambled eggs but clearly from a powder) a good cup of coffee would've made me really happy. read more

This is one of those places that you walk by 1000 times if you are frequent seaside visitors. The building is slammed right against the little aquarium that is absolutely a pillar of seaside family memories. We decided to do a quick little overnight being only a couple hour drive. It really isn't much, but it definitely does. Save the parents mental state to be able to not drive there and back in the same day. We wanted to make sure that they had a pool and a hot tub for the kids to swim in and also it's a huge benefit to have a decent breakfast because it is a pretty good time energy and money saver having that attribute readily available. Also, the fireplace is a huge plus. Rooms were clean beds were comfortable. I really don't know how they keep the rooms clean. I'm sure they must vacuum out 1000 pounds of sand each week. But they somehow do it and everything looked and smelled and felt nice. They really did have a good hot breakfast multiple kinds of meats eggs potatoes fuck different kinds of bread fresh made pancake machine, which made pretty dang good pancakes. I will admit. Lots of different drink options use Portland coffee roasters so that's a big plus they also have coffee and hot cookies in the evening in the office Lastly, it's right there on the beach. I mean you literally walk 15 feet the sand from your room door and you're able to do bonfires. They also have very affordable wood there. If you wanna grab a quick little bundle and have a bonfire, they even have some small kits, but we can prepare prepared. Absolutely a great place especially for the price. I mean it's winner rates at this point but still a stellar place to hang your hat for a night. read more

Beach lodging can be dicey, we had a mixed experience overall. Paid extra for the ocean view and it was worth it, not only for the view, but the white noise of the waves. Conversely, all the pathway noise is right below your window. NEGATIVES - bathroom sink was clogged so it took sometime to drain. - the TV audio and video was spotty. - no pay-per-view only a bunch of news channels. This is usually a money maker for hotels so not sure why they don't offer it. - right above our 3rd floor room is a fan/generator with a variable loud hum. If it was consistent it wouldn't have been so bad. - wifi kept dropping! Always a great experience here, our go-to stay anytime we plan a trip since we started coming in 2020. Positives: *Generally affordable *Incredible customer service *Thoughtful accommodations, like complimentary cookies, guest laundry room, pool/hot tub, hot breakfast, walking to the beach, etc. *Involved in their community. We got a free tray to feed the sea lions, and a % of discount for donating a toy to their local toy drive. *Our most recent stay had a kitchenette that had cups, plates, pots, pans, and silverware. They also had dish soap in the lobby (as well as laundry detergent). Very convenient! *Awesome packages! Definitely worth the price, $25 for s'mores/campfire on the beach? Worth it for the convenience, if not the value. Negatives: *A little dated, but it's family friendly and affordable. Not expecting luxury 5-star. *Slightly more walking distance from the main strip. Still walking distance though, and right on the beach. *I did get pissed off because I couldn't figure out the shower, and the two remotes didn't work for our tv. (Kids just took a bath instead, and we just used the buttons on the tv). I'm sure a call to the lobby would've solved both problems, but they weren't that big of a deal. Overall: My family and I absolutely love Ebb Tide. Each stay is worth the value they offer simply at their location, customer services, and affordability. We were disappointed when we arrived and the king ground floor room that we had reserved and received confirmation for, weeks earlier was unavailable. I purposely reserved a ground floor because my 70 yr old husband has eyesight and balance issues due to a stroke, and I have bad knees, hips and I also currently have a broken toe. So when told a ground floor room was unavailable I was frustrated. We were put in a 3rd floor room with no elevator. I even told them about my broken toe and our issues with the stairs. But they told me again no ground room available. So for 3 days, 2 nights we had to climb up and down those 2 flights of stairs with great difficulty. And honestly we didn't go out an about as much as we had planned because of the stairs. It wasn't all bad, however. The room was decent, just a little dated. We had a nice view. The king bed was comfy and loaded with pillows. One minor thing that bugged me was that the time on the alarm clock and microwave was not set. The last thing I want to do on vacation is try to figure out how to set the alarm on an unfamiliar alarm clock. A small thing, I know. Just inconvenient. The breakfast was nice. Biscuits, Gravy, scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, breads, cereals, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, juice, milk and more. And the cookies at 6pm in the lobby was nice. And when we were ready to leave we felt unsafe trying to pack our belongings down the stairs so they sent someone to haul it down for us. That was appreciated. The location is awesome!!! read more

Best oceanfront hotel we've stayed in on the coast! Long time lovers of Seaside, my family has frequented many of the hotels and bnbs in the area. Ebb Tide takes first place in my book for the most bang for your buck! Not only the most affordable with an ocean view, but the location overall cannot be beat. Right next door to the Aquarium, off of a dead end quiet road, right along the Promenade - It doesn't get any better than this! While staying we enjoyed daily free breakfast, (eggs, sausage, hash browns, bagels, fruits, cereals) an indoor heated pool and hot tub, in-room kitchenette, and in-room fireplace!! All of these amenities and still the most affordable room we could find. Highly recommended; Will definitely be back to stay again! read more

We really enjoyed our stay! There were pros and cons like any hotel. My family of four stayed three nights (4 year old and 11 month old). Our room was on bottom floor. Couldn't see the ocean from our room, but that wasn't a big deal to us. View of the dunes, next to the boardwalk. Lots of people walking by but the windows are pretty reflective on the outside so it's not too easy to look in. Windows muffled the sound pretty well too. I do wish there were maybe some inner curtains or something so we could let some light in but also have some privacy. Our room was one of the closest to the pool, so that was great for the kiddos. Very easy access to the beach too over the dunes or toward the turnaround! Next to the aquarium which was wonderful as my son wanted to go twice. Very close to Broadway as well for the shops. The breakfast had a good variety, well stocked and lots to choose from. A few tables to sit at, but it was pretty busy. Cookies at 6 pm every day which our son reminded us of every day. Parking lot had plenty of spots. Staff were nice and housekeeping was great. Rooms were clean, loved having a kitchenette and the two rooms we had was perfect for a baby who takes two naps a day. We could hear the bath when it was turned on next door, but it wasn't too bad. Other than that we couldn't really hear the neighbors, and I saw that there were no vacancies during our stay. Yes the hotel was older and had some scuffs and scrapes on the inside and out, but that didn't affect our stay. Everything was clean. It is mid July, mid to late 60s and if we kept our windows open during the day and used our two fans provided, it was fine! There is a fireplace we didn't use, but it was a nice option if it was cooler. And for this mom, the shower had the best water pressure I've had in awhile!! read more

Guest in the room next to mine exposed himself to my partner and hotel staff did nothing about it. They called his room to "get his side" and believed him when he said he "didn't know he did it" Even though he made full eye contact and even went as far as stroking himself while still making eye contact. (He then immediately checked out, guilty conscience much?) Hotel offered to call police and then refused after the guest had said he didn't know he did it. When reported to the front desk Jennifer, the desk manager that night, LAUGHED and assumed it was a joke when initially reported. Malory, general manager, reached out and accused us of threatening her and refused to be of help. She was more willing to lose a long time Ebb Tide customer than to provide an apology or refund for poor handling of situation. Though a refund was eventually offered it was accompanied by "We're not going to have you back as a guest". I stayed here while at a conference and I wish I would have stayed elsewhere. It's a great location and the staff were great and seem to care about customer service - it just doesn't show when you get to your room (or even to the hallway before you get to your room). The non-verbal message a guest gets from this place is: "We don't care about this property". The room and facility look trashy. There were so many stains on the carpet, paint scratched off the walls, unfinished and/or sloppy "repairs", and things needing repaired/replaced. I realize that updates and repairs are expensive, but these rooms aren't cheap either (in comparison to MUCH nicer places where my colleagues stayed). I had neatly care less about the "dated-ness" of this place, but I would highly recommend that they take more pride in their facility and hire someone to do a walk-through with them and point out (at least) some of the "low-hanging fruit" that they could repair/replace (with a handy person that has more attention to detail) to give this place the atmosphere it deserves. read more

Scored on a great room deal a few days before arriving and it was great all around! For the location on the beach, room with partial view, we scored pretty well. Blinding lights, ruining any kind of activity on the dunes and seashore at night. These things could be seen from Japan if it wasn't for the curvature of the earth. Totally ruins the ability to see the stars, fire on the beach, or just trying to not trip over anything on the sand. No other hotel has them. The room was as expected for an old, low budget hotel. The dog towels were a nice touch. Bed was firm as a rock and no elevators. No fire sprinkler system, so hope someone's joint doesn't light up the place. Location to the downtown is good. read more

Currently staying here and also currently looking for a different hotel to switch to. To start, no AC. Yes, the website states no AC and a fan is in room. The 1 dusty fan does nothing. Our room is a sauna. I originally told my husband to keep the window closed because we're on the 1st floor, but midway through the night sweating, I gave in and we opened the window, which still didn't so much....mind you it's not even reaching 70 degrees outside. It's warmer in our room than outside. The hotel is also very dated. There are cracks all around the bathroom and stains on the walls. The chairs in the room are worn and look stain. I had put them in corner so my toddler won't get on them. Additionally, when leaving the room, our toddler was helping unlock the door from the inside and the lock fell off. The front desk just said "We will look into it". I feel safe, but it would be nice to have that extra securement. The grab n' go breakfast is dry and tastes like it's past the expiration date..but it's free, so I guess it doesn't matter. We will just go buy our breakfast. The staff seem okay. No complaints there. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS HOTEL. The only thing nice about it is that it's on the beach and within walking distance from downtown. read more

We've been traveling Oregon coast for past 2 weeks, and would have to say this place is one of the best! We splurged for Oceanfront, and for $230 this is the bomb! Clean, fireplace, beautiful full-window-view of grassy dunes and boardwalk. Coming from a CA beach town, we figured the boardwalk would be crowded, commercial carnival-culture. But Seaside is a refreshing beach experience, with a nice community feel of Americans and families at break without the commercial feel. We especially love the classy cement trim on the boardwalk, and the gentle laws and usage of the beach put fires. We drove through h to e more expensive and coveted Cannon Beach and, frankly, saw that whole upscale effort as a hysterical effort toward something more refined. So happy that our journey lead us to Seaside:) read more

Lovely window watching- even though the front desk person told us it was a 'partial view' we still could see the dunes and a bit of ocean. We could definitely hear the waves as well. Breakfast was great, lots of options and they served hot biscuits and gravy with plenty more to choose from. They do have a pool and hot tub. The website did say they have a sauna, which was not the case. Would stay there again. read more
