This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. While we were away, hotel staff allowed other guests into our room because of a "double booking" error. Those guests, together with hotel staff, removed our personal belongings and took them to the front desk without our knowledge or permission. When we returned, we were told there was nothing the hotel could do because it was "an error in their booking system." That's not an excuse--it's the hotel's responsibility to manage its reservations without violating guests' privacy and security. I contacted Booking.com, and they reached out to the hotel on our behalf. We requested a refund since strangers had been allowed into our room and had handled our personal belongings. The hotel refused, claiming they weren't responsible because the mistake was caused by their online booking system. Blaming your own system instead of taking responsibility is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the staff was completely unprofessional and showed no concern for what had happened. There was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to make the situation right. We paid nearly $600 for a single night, only to have our privacy violated and our belongings handled by strangers. If a hotel is willing to let other people into your occupied room because of an internal mistake, how can anyone feel safe staying there? Avoid this hotel. If they can let strangers into your room once, they can do it again. read more

All Ashore at Seaside! I had a good experience booking this place for Saturday through Wednesday. Was it pricey? Yes, but I wanted to fully immerse myself in seaside for half a week by the beach. As always, be sure to check ratings not only on Yelp but also on other sites, weighing the pros and cons. LOCATION: You're just a two-minute walk from the beach, which is the biggest perk! Everything from dining to shopping is within walking distance. The hotel has its own parking lot, but make sure to display your hotel window tag to avoid getting towed. AMENITIES & SERVICE: Every day, there's complimentary coffee and tea available downstairs. The lobby features board games, a small bar, and lounging areas where you can relax or get some work done. Next to the lobby, there's a heated pool (it's a bit smaller than it appears in photos). You can also borrow bikes to explore the town--just ask at the front desk. Room service even sent me a text each morning to check if I needed housekeeping, which was nice. ROOM: We stayed in Room 22, located near the Ashore sign. It had a spacious layout with a king-size bed, perfect for two. The room featured a fireplace with wood, a couple of lounge chairs, a coffee table, a mini fridge (just big enough for small snacks), a TV, and standard hotel bathroom amenities. I appreciated the space, although the walls were a bit thin, so we could hear some noise from our neighbor and the downstairs when people slam the door... I booked Ashore based on sustainability practices, location, and amenities. The pool was great- saltwater, warm, great for kids. It was really nice to have a sauna as well. They deliver complimentary breakfast to your room as well. Unfortunately, 2 days into our 4 day stay, the roof started leaking into our room. Totally understand things unexpectedly happen, however, the process of trying to resolve this was extremely frustrating. We got confusing, conflicting information (such as, you can stay in this room for a "discount" but no one could tell me what the discount was, then later we were told we actually had to leave the room). In the end we were given two options- 1) move from a Suite with 3 beds into a room with 1 queen bed and a sofa trundle and receive a 10% discount on their usual rate for the queen room (which was much higher than the rate posted online through their website) or 2) they would "let" us leave without using the two remaining nights on our reservation and not charge us for the remaining unused nights! (on the leaking room we were forced to leave) When I asked if they would consider a larger discount given the inconvenience and disruption, or a partial refund if we end up cutting our trip short because of this, I was told I could wait two hours for the manager to arrive at 4 pm to ask and see if she would grant a more substantial discount. It's important to note that the front desk staff have been texting and calling the manager throughout this incident but would not ask about this and said there was no way to get this information sooner. We decided to leave at this point. The manager, Luz, did contact me later but refused to give any partial discount or credit for this incident, because she stated there were no issues in the room the first two nights. Let's talk about the fireplaces... This has been a nice stay. Interactions with the staff have been great. The room is very nice looking, reasonably comfortable, and the bathroom with overhead rain shower was lovely, especially for a freakishly tall person like me. The heated salt water pool and sauna were also great, especially during the "no kids" hour, which frankly wasn't long enough. Honestly though, I came to Yelp to discuss one thing - what the hell is up with the fake fireplaces?! It looks like a cozy old-fashioned style gas-powered oven, but in fact is just a large decoy with no function or purpose beyond aesthetics. Like... why? Any vibe it creates is ruined as soon as you realize it's fake. It creates this expectation when you enter the room followed by disappointment and betrayal when you discover the truth. Now all I can think about is how there's a fireplace in my chilly room that does not and can not do what fireplaces are intended to do. Lots of great design choices here, but this is not among them. Also, honorable mention to the photo of some couple in the room. Are these the owners? I found this a little off putting. Why is this here? What's the point in showing this photo to guests? Why do their eyes follow me around like they're paranoid about vandalism? Are they watching over the fake fireplaces? So many questions. I've been to a lot of hotels and every single one has explained the breakfast situation at check-in. This hotel has a process that I have never experienced before where you have a slip in your room that you have to fill out and turn it in before 9 PM the night before if you want your complementary breakfast. They gave no indication of this at all at check-in and I don't ever read the materials in the hotel room because I'm out doing the things that I want to enjoy where I am vacationing. We paid $300 for this MOTEL room and they don't have the professionalism or decency to give us the details needed to fully enjoy our stay. Don't recommend. read more

The Ashore Hotel was VERY highly rated on Booking.com and Expedia. It's OK, but it did not live up to the reviews. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, so it met my basic needs. It's very close to the beach and the promenade, which is also a plus. Hard-surface flooring, which is practical but not very cozy. Decor was very beutral/industrial. The only pop of color in the room was one red pillow. And there was no closet, and no door to close off the toilet and shower area. However, although the pictures and room descriptions all show fireplaces in every room, there was no way to turn it on - no switch, no button, etc., and no instructions in the room. There was no telephone in the room, and there was nothing to indicate how to contact someone with a problem after hours to report a problem. (The office closed at 10 pm, and I realized this was a problem at 11 pm.) To finish on a good note, though, the staff I dealt with were very nice. I had to check out very suddenly a day early due to a medical emergency at home, and they offered (unasked) to refund my last night's stay. I really appreciated that! So overall, they're not a bad place to stay, but not quite as good as they seemed. read more

We booked this hotel for a one night getaway at the coast. We wanted somewhere that had a pool and were excited because they also advertised a sauna. When we arrived we were told the pool and sauna were closed. So I was surprised to see an additional charge on my credit card and reached out to inquire. I was told it was a resort fee. When I shared the resort amenities weren't available I was told they were and that the charge wouldn't be reversed. I let her know again that they weren't available and she refused to refund the resort fee. This isn't how you should treat folks and I definitely will not ever be staying here again. Luz, the manager, was rude and treated me disrespectfully. The location is good but it's not worth the price they are charging and the customer service was terrible. There aren't the words to describe how wonderful this hotel is! They were so hospitable, and they were completely willing to help make my husband's birthday extra special. I ordered add on packages, and I had special requests to make personal touches to our stay. My husband absolutely LOVED opening the door to the room and seeing rose pedals on the bed, chocolates, candles and a birthday card with a personalized message. The room was spotlessly clean, and the decor was so unique, updated, and COMFORTABLE! They offered complementary boardgames, flavored water, and cruiser bicycles, in addition to the pool, sauna and a little fire fit area... and it was SO REASONABLY priced! There is also an adorable bar and restaurant with a fabulous menu. This boutique hotel provides an experience that there is no way you could ever get from any of the surrounding hotels. I won't ever stay anywhere else when I come to Seaside. The location is also amazing! Tucked away in the middle of it all, it is located right next to the Seaside Carousel Mall, and about a block from the ocean. Shopping, the ocean beach, dining and activities surround the hotel. I have no idea how I missed this gem before. I can't say enough about it. They have covered all of the possible considerations for an amazing getaway! read more

We booked the "suite" months prior to our trip. The morning we were set to check in, we receive a call that the room we reserved is under maintenance and we are unable to stay there- but they are able to downgrade us and waive a cancellation fee. They knew about the maintenance issue prior to this day, but were waiting on a part which did not arrive. The room we were downgraded to was not great. Concrete floors, mildew in the shower. The spoon used for coffee in the room was still dirty. The shampoo bottles were half used. The morning we were to check out, we checked our credit card account and saw the hotel put a $730 pending charge; that was $200 more than the price of the suite we originally booked. When we brought this up to the front desk staff, they said "oh I don't know how that happened". They were able to remove the pending charge and we were then charged appropriately. However, had we not brought up the massive overcharge, the hotel may not have even noticed and we would have paid over double for the downgraded room. read more

We took down our bath robes to walk back to the room with. You can't have drinks in the pool room, but they do have a bar edge on the outside where you can have a drink. Rooms: A fireplace is in every room. My room also had a fridge. The room was big and clean. Loved the look and smell of wood. The king size bed was comfortable and the pillows were heavenly. The bathroom: The toiletries smell like lavender. I loved the rain shower head. It had great water pressure and felt great after a long day. There's a community microwave and ice machine on the first floor. They also have fire pit outside where you can sit around and enjoy the evening. In the Maine lobby, you can rent bikes, movies and games. They have a laundry facility. Parking was not a problem and it was free. This place is about a 15-20 min drive from cannon beach. read more

I have never written a negative review, but this is very necessary. We enjoyed our one night stay at the Ashore hotel. Hotel staff were helpful and welcoming and our room was clean. About 2 hours after check out we received a text message accusing us of taking a $130 blanket from our room. Said blanket was not present in the room upon check in and this feels like a total scam. A very nice way to end a relaxing honeymoon beach weekend. Be advised to take pictures and video documentation of your room upon arrival to avoid being falsely accused and scammed by this establishment. read more

Bed bugs!! My family and I stayed here recently and I want to share our experience. During our stay we noticed our room hadn't been throughly clean. Counters were dirty, cobwebs, and stuff left from previous guests under the couch. We didn't think too much into it, as we didn't plan to spend a lot of time on the hotel other than to sleep. We stayed one night. Upon arriving home I began to notice bug bites that were increasingly itchy like nothing I've ever experienced before. I had welts. I did some research and found out what I had were indeed bed bug bites!!! By that time by husband and kids began seeing bites as well. I immediately contacted the hotel and reported this incident. It was nearly impossible to get in touch with management to take my concern seriously. Finally I was informed they had a pest contractor come out to do an inspection. "However he only found sand fleas, and general house insects." And that she would refund my money due to our experience. They flat out lied and tried to cover up their negligence. Being told my claim was false was a slap to the face. When I asked if they could provide a copy of the pest inspection report, the manager Luz Alcantar stopped responding to my emails. There is no accountability from this hotel. I literally have trauma from this bed bug experience the least they could do is own up to their mistake and not try to cover it up. It's hard to find a place great for a toddler and hipster too... My 3 old cried when we left she wanted to stay. Highlights: salt pool (super warm -we were there during a horrible cold Gale Storm, the water was so cozy), board games, nice toiletries, free tea and coffee, sauna, access to all attractions and having a room with bunk beds. The staff was helpful (let us use their plates when the take out forgot them). Overall we'd go back again! Caveat (I don't know all the Oregon coastal towns) but the town is a little 1950's carnival carny vibe- not as "hip" as Astoria but we kinda liked it that way. A few things we didn't get to use, but they seemed great; the bikes and s'mores for the firepit ( it was too rainy to use them). If it is great place to stay in a intense Gale Storm in January- then I am sure it is extra wonderful in the warmer months. read more

I've been to Seaside many times growing up and this is by far the best hotel I've stayed at. Based off the good reviews, I decided to book a one-night stay for hubby and me and our two dogs. They are so dog-friendly! They had bowls of water everywhere, a bin of dog toys, and complimentary dog treats. The pricing was relatively less than a lot of the other (older) hotels around us, and the location was perfect - literally steps away from the beach and a bunch of restaurants and Main Street. I'm huge on interior decor and loved everything about the look of our room. Whoever decorated these rooms did an awesome job! Customer service was super friendly and I love how they have all these amenities on-site: board game and DVD rentals, free bikes to rent, free coffee and tea, and they also have beers on tap and a kitchen that makes small plates. We ended up having car troubles after we checked out and they were very helpful and got us rebooked right away for a second night. I believe I will stay here moving forward when I come back to Seaside! read more

At first the hotel seems fine or even pretty good. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. During our stay the styling of the room began to bother me. They went with an industrial feel using pipes for light hangers, towel racks, and handles for the pull out bed. While I did catch my elbow pretty good on the pipe towel rack in the uncomfortably small bathroom the pipe handles on the pullout were a larger issue. They stick out maybe four inches and are about two inches from the floor. I went to check the window in the middle of the night and absolutely smoked my foot and toes into this pipe. I would recommend the hotel look into this. Nothing stated so far would cause me to leave a bad review the main problem we had was about two hours after checkout we were accused of taking a blanket from the hotel and charged $130. We never saw, touched, or took this blanket. We were unaware that we would need to prove that it was not there otherwise we would have taken pictures when checking in. There was no way to convince the staff that we didn't take it. Apparently there was nothing that could be done to rectify the situation other other than steal additional funds from out credit card. To be perfectly clear we tore our bags apart when we got home. We did not accidentally take this blanket, it was never there. read more

We really liked this place and stayed here two years in a row. The office told us we'd be eligible for a repeat customer discount next time. They are always so nice there. We tried to make our summer vacation plans early (Jan/Feb). We couldnt get them to give us a price but finally got an estimate. It was as much as staying in one of the ocean view rooms w a full kitchenette. We asked about our repeat customer discount and they said theyd call us back. They never did. We now stay in a 2 bedroom condo w fully stocked kitchen for almost as much as this "cheap motel". We really liked Ashore as an inexpensive beach getaway ($150 a night during summers is what one room non-ocean view is worth to us). They wanted @ $250 a night after Labor day w no repeat customer discount available (2023). You can stay in one of the ocean front hotels motels for the same or less. We still give 3 stars for how well run and clean the place is and for the free bicycles and lemon water. But we dock stars for over-priced and not honoring the repeat customer discount. read more

I'm just now getting around to writing this review but my boyfriend and I stayed at Ashore in September for our 7 year anniversary. I'm super picky about the hotels I stay at and will literally do hours of research until I find one that I'm happy with. Especially for such a special occasion. When I stumbled upon the Ashore hotel, I knew I had found my new go to Seaside hotel. We booked and paid in advance to save a little extra money. When we arrived at our hotel, we noticed that it was just steps away from the beach. We loved that it was in such a great location that we could walk to shops and restaurants and not have to worry about where to park. We booked a queen room that also included a day bed. Hotel also included a saline pool and sauna that not very many people used, so we basically had it all to ourselves on the nights we were there. They also had a fire pit made of oyster shells which was very unique. We would definitely love to stay here again. read more

When checking in to a room as a single reservation handing the guest two keys, or not inquiring how many keys a person might want, is an odd hospitality choice. Perhaps the person checking me in was having a bad day but it almost felt personal. To be completely honest, if I was a walk-in guest I would have walked to a different property. At a $200+ price point, without an ocean view, the basics should be elevated to compensate for what you can't offer the guest. I could have paid less and had a view of the ocean and would likely have felt a bit more welcome. There are several amenities the property offers, loaner bikes, DVD library, a scavenger hunt, whatever food/beverages are offered in the cafe/bar, a swimming pool, none of these were explained to me. The person checking me in could have taken a moment to introduce me to a few of the options available. Some minor courtesy at check-in goes a long way in building goodwill. I had to actively inquire about the amenities and I received short, tersely worded explanations with no elaboration. I wasn't even told what time the pool area closes without asking. This did not make me feel welcome. Once in the room the issues just piled up. The remote control operation instructions were hard to understand and unfortunately incorrect for my room. I was able to troubleshoot and find my way to TV and DVD operation but an older guest would probably require assistance. It was annoying the printed instructions did not correlate with the actual operation of the TV. When I needed to reach the front desk I had to use my cell phone to call because pushing zero on the phone didn't connect me. Some basic instructions would have been helpful. I appreciate the aesthetic of Edison bulbs however the proximity of the bare bulbs, hanging from orange cords on either side of the low bed, at eye level was glaring, uncomfortable, and the shadows cast made reading problematic. Additionally the only other main light was another Edison bulb in a hooded light fixture over the sitting area which was dim and did nothing to enhance the aesthetic. There were hard shadows cast around an otherwise poorly lit room. One of the reasons I selected the property was the description of the beds. I have a memory foam mattress so I get the appeal. The mattress in my room was hard and quite uncomfortable. The sheets did not help, they were scratchy and of very poor quality. It is obvious cost was the deciding factor in the bed and bedding selection. At a $200+ price point the basic amenities should reach a standard that is, at minimum, comparable to a Best Western or similar. Unfortunately Ashore did not hit that mark. It was disappointing on almost every level. The only things I enjoyed about the hotel was its location two blocks from the beach and the bathroom amenities. The overhead rain shower was really nice and had good pressure. The full size EO bath products were a happy discovery and the boutique, handmade soap was quite pleasant. A welcome accompaniment would have been large, soft bath towels and comfortable robes. Unfortunately soap and shampoo are not going to bring me back to this hotel. I typically stay in Cannon Beach at much nicer properties so I admittedly have high standards and expectations but I stay at plenty of mid range and large chain hotels and motels. The Ashore is selling itself as a boutique hotel when it is nothing more than a cheap motel superficially renovated to appeal to a boho millennial clientele that will fall for a quasi-eco "vibe" that crumbles when you start looking for value for the money. Had I stayed another night the rate quoted online was $244. Anyone willingly paying that much for this property deserves what they get. You couldn't pay me to return, I'll order some soap directly from the manufacturer and stick to Cannon Beach next time. read more

Their website makes this seem like a cute boutique hotel when it is actually a run down motel. They feature an indoor pool that is located in a dark hole under the stairs. It is about the size of a hot tub, which they list having on their hotels.com posting but do not. When I mentioned this at check in I was answered with a snotty lecture about how I should have called them directly. The fire pit is a portable one set in a parking spot in the parking lot. The staff leaves at 10pm so when we turned down our bed at 11 to find it full of hair and with dirty sheets, there was nothing we could do about it Save yourself and stay literally anywhere else in Seaside. read more

So glad we chose the Ashore hotel! The location is perfect, and the rooms were pretty spacious. The decor is very modern and the rooms were clean. They were a bit dark, though, but that's ok. Ashore was also very dog friendly which was perfect! There were hoses to rinse off our pup before going into the room, and they also provided doggy towels, treats, and a bandana. Ashore also had a good selection of wine and beer, and some good coffee/espresso. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay there again. My only complaint is that we could hear all the footsteps of the people in the room above us. They did provide earplugs though.. read more

We stayed in an upstairs king room. -Very short walk to the beach (super close to the bathrooms on the boardwalk if that gives you a sense of convenience) -adorable decor: crisp linens, industrial elements like exposed pipes and Edison bulbs, and very high quality waterfall style shower. -the lobby has a comfortable chill bar feel (they have a tap of a handful of brews) -the sauna is SO NICE and free to use as well as the indoor pool. -the staff is so friendly and very helpful -bikes are free to use for guests of the hotel! We rode up and down the boardwalk a few times and it was dream-like. Overall, when we come back to Seaside, we WILL be staying here again. read more

I booked a stay here for my wife and two kids. My wife and I both love minimalism and the urban design of Ashore. The amenities were spot on for a hotel at this price point. The staff was pleasant and quick to answer any questions that I had. The Hotel exterior: Ashore looks like your typical beach motel with pops of color for every door. The exterior is weathered but welcoming. The parking lot is basic but provides ample space while being a block off the main drag in Seaside. The outdoor gas fire pit with benches is great for sitting by with a book on a cool morning. Checking-in/the Lobby: The check-in process was simple, with most of it done ahead of time via a link sent to my email. I was asked to show ID and asked how many keys I would like. Drip coffee is provided in the lobby with all the fixings. The lobby also serves as a bar/cafe for guests and the public with a small selection of food, beer and wine. The room: I stayed in a bottom floor queen room with two additional twin beds (one was a trundle). The room was clean and all essential provided for an easy stay. The memory foam mattress was a tad firm but very comfortable. The soaps and towels provided were perfect for a weekend getaway. The only recommendation I had was to bring socks, as the smooth concrete floors can be chilly in the morning. For anyone going to the beach, the concrete floors are excellent for easy cleanup after getting too much sand in your jeans and sweatshirt so don't be turned off by this. Overall, I would love to stay again at Ashore. It is great for a couple on a weekend getaway. It is kid friendly and animal friendly too. There was no excessive noise at night. We were so happy with our stay at Ashore! We really enjoyed the clean room, especially the comfy beds. The kids had a bunk bed which is always fun to stay in. The room was beautiful and I really liked the eco friendly beauty products (soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion). I also appreciated having a recycle bin next to the garbage bin. The kids also enjoyed splashing in the pool! There is a sauna as well. We grabbed a cup of coffee from the welcoming lobby in the morning before we headed out. The location is superb as it is so close to the boardwalk and beach! The staff was so kind to let me know that my kid left behind their little stuffed animal. They offered to mail it to our home and when it arrived my little one was so excited to receive a special package! That was above & beyond! read more

We had a great quick stay at Ashore Hotel. It was rainy so we only went to the beach really quick but the location is great, a quick walk to the sand. As I have seen in other reviews, I agree the staff is a highlight. I recommend getting the breakfast which they will deliver to your room. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich, scone and waffles. They use Dough Dough products which was great because they are a 5 star bakery but were closed the day we were there. There is also complimentary coffee and organic teas. They are a B corporation and seem to use more quality ingredients which I was happy to see after staying at Best Westerns. The rooms are pretty big and would be great for a family of at least four which separate rooms with bunk beds. They are also dog friendly. Ashore is definitely a solid option among many choices in the Seaside area. It's also very close to Cannon Beach and a must visit stop to Ecola State Park! read more

We wanted a weekend getaway to just relax and do nothing. We travel a lot but also plan so much stuff that it becomes stressful. This was PERFECT, we did nothing besides walk around and relax and it was awesome. We loved how close everything was! We didn't use our car the entire weekend. 3 min walk to restaurants and beach and all the little shops. When booking, I didn't realize we were ON the strip of shops at seaside. Staff was super and nice and helpful and we loved that there was a DVD player, as we watched movies and relaxed all day. Also, my boyfriend had payed for the romantic package as a surprise, it was so amazing. Definitely will plan another trip soon. read more

Awful customer service. I decided yesterday afternoon to postpone my drive to San Francisco due to the smoke and air quality in Oregon. I canceled at this same hotel two weeks ago, and had until 6 PM two days before my trip to cancel and get a refund. I logged on at 3:05 PM to cancel, and found that the deadline had been moved to 3 PM and I had missed it by minutes. I called the hotel multiple times to try to transfer my reservation to next week (or just get a refund) - they were very rude to me and told me there was nothing they could do for me since I booked through a third party website (hotels.com). I called hotels.com customer service multiple times and had to spend hours on the phone with them - they then called Ashore Hotel on my behalf to try to handle it, and then told me Ashore refused my request because of their policies. But Ashore's policies listed on their website say that you can cancel two days before your booking and still get a refund, and that's what I've been trying to do since yesterday at 3PM! I asked them multiple times if they could just keep the money for my reservation since they weren't letting me cancel, and give me a voucher or something to stay there next week, but they refused. I should not be punished by missing the cancellation deadline by just a few minutes (I was in work meetings all day), and postponing my trip due to hazardous air quality. I had a great anniversary getaway with my wife at Ashore Hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was nice. I liked the sauna and saline pool. We checked out the Short Circuit DVD after our night out. My wife had never seen the movie. I like the sequel more but it wasn't in stock. I regret not checking out a bike but I will next time. I recommend snacking on one of their homemade pop tarts and popcorn. They have a good wine selection and several beers on tap. The decor of our room was great and it had some cool photos. There were cool photos throughout the hotel. Also, there is a fire pit. The hotel's location was great which allowed us to venture up and down the main strip so we could fill our bellies full of junk food, swing on the swing set and watch the sunset before making our way back to the hotel to fall asleep while watching Guttenberg in all his glory. read more
