We have enjoyed Urbano and have been faithful customers since it took over Colada Shop's location,…read morebut today's experience left us extremely disappointed. My daughter stopped in hoping to purchase several slices of their lemon mascarpone cake for my husband's birthday celebration. Instead, she was told she could only purchase one slice and, when she politely asked where the cake came from, staff refused to share any information. Restaurants are certainly entitled to their policies, but customer service and kindness matter. A simple explanation or a gracious interaction would have gone a long way. Instead, she was treated in a manner that left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. I sincerely hope that what I can only assume is a $100 cake was worth the lifetime value of the business they are losing from our family of four, our friends and family. I also hope they consider that reviews matter, and people pay attention to how businesses treat people. Great food should be matched with great hospitality. Sadly, today's experience demonstrated that exceptional customer service was not on the menu.

We were surprised to find this place was very small and has the look of a quick serve place, which it is not. The server: very nice and attentive. No one here seemed to actually be from Italy, which we are accustomed to when going to Italian places. Food: the crispy artichoke appetizer was good. The whipped ricotta appetizer was delicious. For meals, we got the bucatini and this one pasta with a pumpkin cream sauce. They were both OK, I didn't love the Brussel sprouts in my dish, just didn't go well. We also ordered the side of chicken parm for protein, which was big and good. For dessert the cappuccino was good but was sweet for some reason (I didn't ask for any sweetener). The tiramisu was pretty good, I imagine homemade, especially with it being more yellow which is more traditional.

The staff's service was good, and the prices were reasonable. However, this one has a more outdated feel among the various Giant Food supermarkets I have been to.

I have always trusted the Giant brand, to include the fact it is one of the only union grocery chains left (cue the jingle "look for...the union label). Bonus buys, gas points, online discounts....this place has everything! This is not the fanciest store (or Giant) in the area, but it is the store where I've gotten to know a few of the long time employees, run in to my friends and neighbors and can find most items with a blindfold on (to be clear, I don't advocate shopping with a blindfold on). The prices are always reasonable, the produce and meat are always fresh and you don't have to feel stressed while shopping. During the peak of the pandemic, their curbside pick-up didn't markup the prices (looking at you Wegman's) and the service was amazing. The store is clean, comfortable and well lit. Most customers wear masks (bonus points) and the employees are always friendly and helpful. Having shopped in other "upscale" grocery stores (looking at you Wegman's), the meat prices are among the best around. I never feel like I am being up-sold or tempted to try the newest boutique items. Giant also has a "yellow tag" markdown system for items that are close to expiration, which I appreciate. We have dozens of grocery choices in this area of Fairfax County, but I always come back to the Giant. It's like the old friend that is always there for you when the new friend lets you down.

I have a few major complaints about the customer service manager, Masooda Alizada. I have been…read moreshopping at this location for approximately four years and have consistently had great experiences with employees throughout the store until now. My first complaint occurred on 3/6/26. On this day I had about 14 items totaling around $76. In self-checkout. Masooda approached my register and began checking my bag to verify that items were scanned. She placed in her code and compared the screen to the contents of my bag. I had not requested assistance, the register was not stuck, and there was no indication of an issue. This has never happened to me before, unless I accidentally scanned something incorrectly and asked for help. Because she appeared new to me, I decided to let it go at the time. My second complaint happened today. I needed to quickly exchange a $2.50 jar of jam for a $7.89 brand. I walked in with the product and asked Masooda if the exchange was okay. She said yes. I grabbed the new item and returned. After waiting a few minutes, she came out and asked for my receipt. I explained I didn't have it and that I normally use my wife's number for the VIC account, and my phone was in the car. She insisted she needed the number. I reminded her this was an exchange where I was paying more, not requesting a refund. Including the Leesburg Harris Teeter, I have never been required to provide a receipt for my smaller exchanges (Refunds: yes). She then mentioned fuel points, which I understood, but I offered my wife's name, suggested she use their VIC card, but she still refused. I went to my car, retrieved my phone, and returned. At that point she began showing me their refund policy. I explained that this was an exchange and that I had previously worked in the grocery industry, specifically with Harris Teeter. I pointed out that she had several options available: looking up my wife's name, using a store VIC card, or simply processing the exchange. She had also just seen me in the store on 3/6. She stated, "Then you should know how the policy works". I asked for her name and Masooda said it's on the receipt. She then tried to lecture me on the policy, and never asked for my ID, which is part of their policy. Thus, I did not sign anything or provide my phone number which she asked. Again, I never had to do any of this for exchanges at Harris Teeter. As I was walking away, I heard what sounded like "Ass" and turned around. She was shaking her head left to right. I walked back and asked what she said. She stuttered, mumbled and then told me to "have a good day". Maybe I heard her incorrectly, but it was definitely derogatory, she did not want to repeat it and was surprised that I heard her. I asked to speak with another manager. She called someone and went into the office. I waited about 10 minutes. Around the 7-minute mark I asked an employee to knock on the office door. A younger male opened the door, briefly spoke to the employee, and closed the door. I waited another few minutes and no manager came out. I called the store and spoke with Jose Ayala, the assistant manager. He was polite and apologetic, although I told him an apology was not necessary. He asked questions and took notes. I asked him to pass this information on to the district manager, Charlie Magaraci. I asked Jose a few important questions. Could Masooda have processed the exchange without my wife's number? He said it is not policy, but yes, she could have. Could she have looked up my wife's name, and I validate most of the phone number? Again, he said yes. In other words, Masooda had several easier, customer-friendly options available but chose not to use them. This situation could have been handled far better with finer judgment. Masooda Alizada needs retraining in customer service and understanding the options available to assist customers. She also needs de-escalation training. I do not want her to be fired; I simply want her to do better. This is where my family and I regularly shop. My family and I will not be back if this is not addressed appropriately.

My cashier grunts and dead-eye stares at me through the transaction even when I am greeting/communicating with him. The one working the self checkout line swings her arms back and forth for five minutes with a pissed off look, making customers go around her. A third keeps leaving her station to yell jokes at my cashier distracting him. The above doesn't convey the full weirdness and "hostile to working" atmosphere...but yea. Probably the worst managed staff I have seen in a while. Sad because I used to come here all the time and the people were super helpful and engaging. Also, the milk always seems to be like 2-4 days from expiration...
