They have 6-8 self checkout counters, so I don't ever have staff-interaction. The store is just as nice, spacious and clean as my first visit. Unlike some other stores, the line goes by fast at the self-checkout. The bakery section is always calling my name as soon as I enter the store. They don't have the mini croissants, like the other locations, but I still grab some of the big croissants. They are just as good as Costco's, and roughly the same price per croissant. I didn't really walk around the store, just go straight to the bakery and the milk section.

During my recent visit in May, I was totally shocked to how this Aldi has changed! For the worst! It is dirty, produce are so-so quality, shelves are poorly organized and resemble a cheap, thrift store, or yard sale with items just haphazardly thrown together, especially their specialty household items section which is now just one big messy piles! A gallon of milk that started at about $1.50 is twice that price! I also cannot find items that used to be well stocked! My, my! After I grabbed a pack of chicken breast, I sadly left - it was the worst grocery shopping experience! What happened to the Aldi we love? Staffing issue? Management? There seems to be no one in charge, or no one cares about giving its loyal customers a great shopping experience. If you don't mind the mess, snarky staff, expired grocery items, poor quality produce, and "we don't care about our shoppers but just our bottom line", yes, go ahead and shop here! But then again, why would you? Customer service had no idea how to fix it and no interest in fixing it; they just said "it's always worked before". I spent 45 minutes trying to get someone to resolve my issue and they just shrugged and said "it should work". Of course it *should* work; the problem is that it *didn't* work! They also didn't accept cash. I ended up unable to pay for anything I'd bought despite having digital credit cards and cash, and they had no interest in resolving the problem. I asked if there was someone they could speak to who could provide a solution and they said there was no one else. Tried to be patient because this isn't their fault, but if the app is not functioning the way it should then there should be someone it can be reported to, like an IT person or development team. They said they had no idea if Walmart even had such a team or department, and that also the app was fine, it was probably that both payment methods I tried (from different companies) were having problems at the same time. I told them that this prevented me from shopping at Walmart ever because they didn't have a functional payment method I could use and they just shrugged again. It's a smallish store, meaning it doesn't always offer the selection of some others in the area, but it also means it's not overwhelming. More importantly, to me, it means it's the kind of place where they recognize me, even after coming less frequently, and greet me and chat with me. It's very welcoming and friendly and in a huge chain, that's rare.

Inflation is real, but back in the day, I could get five grocery bags of food for $25. Those days are over. Do I think it's still competitive? Yes slightly, but not going out of my way. They do have some deals on picnic style foods. Plenty of nearby parks. Checkout was a cinch. I like it but don't love it. The folks working here care, and I do wish them the best.
