I don't think there is one damn person in any one office that knows how to do their own job. They lost my transcript not once, twice, three times but FIVE TIMES I had to have it re-sent to them because they "didn't receive it" the first three times and then only could find part of it the fourth, which resulted in them signing me up for a class I didn't need only to find out two weeks after the semester started, and having to switch into the correct class late. That's not the only fax they've lost of mine resulting in me having to jump through hoop after hoop just to do something that should've taken hours, not days, and screwing up my entire schedule. I stayed maybe one or two nights in one of their dorms, hated it so much and asked to withdraw from student housing and they still charged me over 2 grand. The campus security is some of the rudest and most useless people I've ever encountered. They issue parking tickets every chance they can get, and one time I left an expired parking pass on my car and some bitch called me saying if I didn't take it off they were going to arrest me?? I called them to walk me back to my dorm one night because there are so many rapes on campus and they took 35 minutes to get to me. And one time I crashed my bike and was crying in class so they had the police called on me and the counseling office had the police FORCE ME against my will onto an ambulance and said I couldn't refuse treatment which made me miss both my classes that day and instead they took all my belongings except my underwear and had me sit in the hospital for NINE hours before a social worker walked in and said I could leave. This place is literally hell. Go somewhere else.

Then, after paying for my classes (which is what they wanted anyways), my refund was sent to a bank account that has been closed for over a decade. To get a refund, its through Bank Mobile, not Nelnet like I assumed. I assumed my money would return to the account I used to pay, but Bank Mobile is separate, and I was only notified of this through an email that mentioned Canvas wayyy prior to the refund, so I didnt associate one with the other. It's my mistake, READ ALL EMAILS. The fact they sent funds to a closed bank account of over 10 years blows my mind, but had the staff simply asked where I wanted the funds to go, I could have avoided this ridiculousness. Also, Bank Mobile is foreign and did not help me with ANYTHING. Also, if you are thinking of doing the SURG TECH prog, think real hard. No hospital ever seems to know IF they are going forward with the program or not. Asking questions about that is a waste of time. I wasted over a year and a half STRUGGLING to finish schoolwork, while working full time, time away from family, and paying wayy too much for the program for it to possibly end. Choose something else. GRCC and Corewell, get it together.

**FIRST REVIEW OF 2023**…read more Lol not sure why Yelp would remove my review especially as I'm a medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine who has spent years at this institution. Sometimes the algorithm just does not make sense *shrugs* Anyway short and sweet yet useful-- Tribute to my medical school! MSU CHM in Grand Rapids is one of the two main campuses for their M1s and M2s spending most of their didactics at. The Secchia Center is the main building for this campus and is literally one big giant building with 8+ floors. There's a gorgeous rooftop with a great view of downtown GR that is open spring - fall with floors 1 - 3 hosting most of the classrooms and small group discussions. Floors 4+ has the anatomy lab and clinical simulation floors. The facilities are fairly new with durable, modern furniture of tables, chairs, etc. There's a small library/quiet room that is not used as much since there's so many great study rooms. It's directly connected with 25 and 35 Michigan Spectrum buildings with the first floor having a cafeteria of Qdoba, Starbucks, etc. Some options that are not hospital food. All the main faculty/staff have their offices floors 4+ but with the pandemic, one would check if the individual is in the office that day due to hybrid/remote working. The MSU CHM faculty/staff are wonderful teachers and are different leaders and educators in their own way. Although they are paid personnel, it's still a choice to teach medical students and for the most part, they are doing great conveying their wisdom and expertise to us students. There is security 24/7 on the first floor who often walk around. IT is also available during weekday regular hours but can also be reached by phone as well (shoutout to Jordan). Parking is through Spectrum since MSU does not own the parking lots attached to the building. Custodial team cleans the building and it's a nice, spacious quaint space that is ideal for students to learn in! There is no gym or food/drink options inside the Secchia building itself, but located in downtown and on Medical Mile, there are plenty of options else where. This ended up being a longer review than I thought! All in all, much love and respect to this building. Not every school facility is this nice and new and well-kept. Definitely grateful that I chose Grand Rapids as my campus! If Yelp deletes this review, then that's bonkers :|

Your task is to play guinea pig for smiths new lesson plan, and boy will it be shit and poorly thought out. Updated: February 2011…read more As an older, non-traditional student, Cooley was a perfect match for me because the school has many course options and scheduling possibilities. With multiple campuses, the resources and course offerings are vast. Plus there is a 2-year option in which you have the option to do three terms a year instead of the traditional two terms a year like 95% of all other law schools. I know many people say bad things about Cooley, but I have experienced nothing other than professionalism, excellent academic resources and a faculty the truly does care about each student. The faculty are there to help you succeed and if you fail, it's your own fault. There are numerous extra-curricular organizations, top-notch moot court and mock trial teams and excellent clinic opportunities. Personally, some courses are easier than others, but for my difficult courses, the professor, the Academic resource faculty and even the Dean of the school have assisted with helping me to get a grasp on topics that are tough for me. The school has a "working" court room that has actual Federal District court hearings a couple time a year. In Feb 2011, there are several big cases being heard in our courtroom with some of the top Federal judges presiding. This is no "mock trial" or "moot court"... this is the real deal! The final exams are tough! But hey, it wouldn't be law school if the exams were easy! Based on your personality, you have the choice of using your computer to type the exam or you can go the "old school" way and write in a Blue Book. The grading is very fair. In fact it takes most Profs upwards of 6 weeks to grade the exams. They use a scoring "rubric" to accurately grade each exam on a non-biased approach. If you aren't familiar with what a rubric is, in short it's an outline which attaches a point value to each item you must mention/describe. All exams are 100% anonymous, so the Profs cannot give you a better (or worse) grade based on if they like you or not. Depending on the state in which you plan on practicing, Cooley will help make sure that you take the appropriate courses so you can do well on the bar. For those students that are worried about the bar, there are optional classes you can take in order to prepare you for the multi-state bar exam. FYI, approx. 94% of the Grand Rapids graduating class passed the Bar Exam last summer... Not too shabby! As I continue with my education, I'll keep updating this profile. For those of you considering Cooley, don't read too much into all the "Nay-sayers" out there... they are only looking for a way to justify their spending an additional $50K on their education! Ohhh.. just in case you are wondering, I'm a 2nd term, full-time student and plan on graduating in December 2012. UPDATE DECEMBER 2011 I've become extremely upset (as have 85% of the students) that most of our classes are now evening or weekend classes. This is not what the majority of us signed up for! I'm a full time, 3L student and I have ZERO day-time classes! Seems like Cooley has turned to a nights and weekends program. Students that have children at home are extremely frustrated that they can't take classes now during the day while kids are in school. I know it's bad too because even two professors even commented to me that it seems like all classes are now scheduled in the night. If I wasn't finishing up at Cooley in the next 7-8 months, I'd consider transferring.
