My personal favourite in this restaurant is actually pork binagoongan because the sauce is not salty, the shrimp paste doesn't have that malansa smell or taste and its slightly spicy. for the veggies, try the lumpiang ubod. the garlic topping is crunchy and the sauce of the ubod doesn't have the overpowering taste. You could also try the tinumok here. I personally would recommend any food that comes from Batangas since Michelle, the owner of the restaurant, revealed that their heirloom dishes are those coming from Batangas. I have had calderetang baka and man... the meat's so tender and the caldereta tasted heavenly. One afternoon naman, I tried their lomi. Its good but I had the best tasting lomi in Taal, Batangas. What intrigued us about the place was how empty it was, though it was already past five PM and there was major traffic of people in the mall. The site I supposed reminded us that it was dinner time already, so we mulled over whether to give the place a try. My sis quickly decided against it because she assumed an empty restaurant must mean bad food. However, I was craving for real Filipino food at that moment (and I was paying), so we ended up inside the restaurant after quickly glancing at the menu. The place was so empty that even the host was out of sight. After a minute or so, the host appeared and we were seated promptly needless to say. We even had a pick of any table! We ended up ordering the bagnet that came with the sour broth on the side, beef adobo, laing, and garlic fried rice with dilis. And as it turned out, we really enjoyed the food! Together with Artsy Cafe, they have one owner and you could even do crossovers. I did ask my friends what they would recommend before I visited one Friday. For this visit, we tried: - Crispy Bacon Bagnet (Php180) - This was highly recommended by my friends but I was not expecting it to be this good. I was expecting it to be like chicharon, but this was better. First of all, you won't feel any oiliness nor saltiness. It is just plain crispy, like eating chichirya. It is very addicting and delicious. The whipped aioli and house vinegar kept the taste balanced. - Oyster Sisig (Php250) - Something different from your usual sisig is this oyster version. Each piece looked fried but the combination of flavors served as a good appetizer. A must-try! - Ensaladang Paco (Php125) - something to "cleanse" the oil from all the crispy dishes we ate. I think this is my second time having fern salad and I really enjoyed this dish. The fern has a good crunchy texture and the combination of flavors from the salted egg, red onions, and tomatoes blended well. - Kare-Kare (Php290) - since we ordered mostly "dry" dishes, we had to order something saucy, and we chose this. It had a mixed review from our group. The ingredients are plenty with generous in meat and vegetables. The sauce is actually soupy, and although I don't mind the generous sauce to flavor my rice, it was a little bland for me. The bagoong it came with is refillable and is really good. - Crispy Daing na Bangus (Php275) - This is one underrated dish because it looked like normal fried bangus but tasted better. And yes, it is crispy too. - Pistachio and Cashew Sansrival - the meringue is made crispy and sandwiched the sweet custard-like cream. It is lightly over-sweetened but good enough to pass as a good dessert. - Latik Sundae - brown rice suman served with mangoes and ice cream. Not very sweet. Overall, serving is not that big but is good enough to share. Price is affordable. There are ample parking spaces in front of the restaurant, and more on another lot. They offer free shuttle transfer to and from the parking. Looking forward to return for other dishes. One other highly recommended dish is the Tortang Talaba at Talong.

Grilled Daing na Bangus (275 PHP) They have a good supplier of seafood, which makes all the difference in the overall quality of their dishes. The dishes are simple but the flavors were the right amount of salty, sweet and sour. My favorite dish, hands down, is the Sizzling Kansi. It is seerved with bone marrow and the tangy sauce is perfect with the tender meat. For rice, you have to try their ginamos fried rice. I'm glad I decide to get it mixed in with the fish. It was still crispy and had just the right amount of heat and sweetness. Eat immediately! - Kare Kare: I LOVED that the tripe was grilled yet still so tender. This added another layer of flavor to the whole dish. The sauce was a smidge too sweet but that didn't stop me from devouring this. The vegetables were nicely cooked as well. Ask for an extra serving of bagoong. - Crispy Kansi: Life changing. The marrow had a slight citrus flavor that cuts through the unctuousness. Spoon some on top of some rice, and top with some gravy = the perfect bite! - Pinakbet: The vegetables were cooked just right. Somehow, the okra was not slimy! I could not really taste the aligue in this though. - Tortang Talong: I had high hopes for this because I love tortang talong. But it was a bit dry, and the kesong puti was so sparse that you don't taste it. - Piaya ice cream sandwich: they had run out of ube and quezo ice cream so I had no choice but to go with vanilla. The caramel drizzle was delicious and almost chewy! But the piaya layers became a bit difficult to eat after being pressed up against the ice cream. I'd like to go back and try the quezo version of this. I think the flavor combination would be more unique. - Crispy Buko Pie: You can really taste the Pandian in this, and you get a generous amount of buko. This should be consumed immediately as well! Bottom line: I would love to keep coming back to this restaurant! The food was delicious and I was impressed by how they made Filipino food "pretty" and not just "brown!"
