Elmer (and his crew) were great! They came in a the lowest of 3 bids. They came on time and did the job promptly. There were a few spots that my wife and I expected would look a little different. He finished the job while we were out, so I called him. He brought his crew back 2 days later and went over what we we wanted. One of the differences was that he trimmed a tree a little differently because he felt it was better for the health of the tree. We said we'd like it a different way for appearance, and they went ahead and did it they way we wanted (fingers crossed that the tree will be OK!). Will be using him in the future! read more

We had 14 Eucalyptus trees that were eligible to be cut without permits due to fire hazards and within 100 feet of a residence. Elmer Cano, the owner came over and inspected the job and gave me a reasonable price for removal and cleanup. I needed additional visits for him to meet and talk to my neighbors about potential issues. My house has a huge downhill yard with steep inclines making cut tree debris to be hand carried over 100 to 200 feet uphill. His crew was efficient, mindful of my property and excellent workers. I started with a crew of 6 workers most returned during the 3 weeks. At times there were 12 workers loading 3 trucks with tree cuttings. I had 5 quotes, 2 were outrageous. EC Tree Service did a great job removing a tree that fell on my house after a recent storm. The tree fell on a Saturday and they were able to come the very next morning even though it was a holiday. All of the workers were polite, professional, did their jobs well, and cleaned up after themselves. Elmer, the owner of the company, promised that his workers would make it look like there was never a tree there in the first place and they delivered. The company, which is licensed and insured, was also the most reasonably priced of the three bids I got before hiring them. EC and his crew are top notch professionals! From the quote process, reasonable pricing, help with the permit with the city, etc. For the actual work, they arrived on time, were extremely considerate to not damage any of the surrounding trees and shrubs when they removed a large sycamore tree (tying off each branch they cut down and carefully lowered them). They even cleverly thought of shielding my water feature from flying chips when they expertly ground the stump down! They cleaned up everything and left no trace they were here. With the BIG RAIN finally slowing, I have to say I am really alarmed at the "down MEGA TREES" within our coastal area of Montara down to Half Moon Bay, California. In case you want to know about a company that I highly recommend to help during this crazy time, it is EC Tree Service in Los Altos, CA. The owner is Elmer Cano, and his Office Manager " extraordinaire " is Irma. Sharing my experience might cut down on your research in 2023. In late 2022, I was concerned with the enormous pine trees in my backyard. One hanging over my garage and one over my house. The other four pine trees also concerned me. All six looked distressed and diseased. ( Initially, I was just going to cut down two trees and requested bids) I solicited three bids. EC Tree Service was in line, price-wise, with the other two companies. I hired EC Tree Service over the others because they provided a copy of their business license, proof of insurance, and their Worker's Comp Insurance with their bid. (Whereas other bidders only submitted their business license and proof of insurance.) I checked all three bidder's via phone to make sure they had current business licenses and current insurance policies. The only company that was "current" with their business license and insurance was EC Tree Service. Also, they were the only bidder that had Workers Comp Insurance. (State Compensation in San Francisco usually handles this for California and proved to be helpful to me) The Workers Comp Insurance not only protects workers, but it also protects you as a homeowner and your neighbor's property. as well. EC Tree Service Owner, Elmer Cano, listened to me (I like this) and came up with a plan to not only cut the two trees down but also remove the bad deck in the backyard, an old hot tub, weed whack the backyard, and shaped two small trees. His pricing for this extra service was super reasonable. When the project started, his company was on time each morning, which I feel is important. Also, Elmer assigned a Crew Leader, who worked with me to let me know what his staff was doing next. What a great team, with extreme efficiency. ( FYI, the owner checked in with me by phone and in person during the two projects.) Talk about lots of big trucks for EC Tree! One truck would leave with tree rounds and chips absolutely full, and another huge truck pulled in. I think I saw at least three trucks per day. Also, the crew delighted many neighbors with a climber up a huge pine tree and staff below supporting him... Fun to watch. Who needs a tree crane? Honestly, I was so impressed by this work, I decided to take the remaining four trees down. No surprise, the second project went great. I am so relieved...With this 2023's giant storm happening on the coast, just a few months after EC Tree took my six pine trees down, I did not have trees to worry about. I absolutely feel blessed that my pine trees did not hurt anyone or their home. Every person from the Owner, Elmer Cano, to the Office Manager, Irma, and finally, to the crew, exceeded my expectation. They got the job right and I am lucky to have found them. Ultra impressed with Elmer the owner, Geronimo who was the crew head, and Irma from the office. Elmer gave us a very competitive bid, while also demonstrating his expertise. He also was up front with the fact that getting a tree removal permit was going to be a rough process, and it certainly was! Irma gracefully navigated the dungeon that is the county bureaucracy during covid. It's with her persistence that the county even did its job a month after the permit should have issued automatically. Geronimo was personable, knowledgeable, and tackled a brutal job with enthusiasm and professionalism. Would highly recommend EC Tree Service as they were efficient, prompt, and did a great job trimming, thinning and raising the canopy of my large oak tree. They did a thorough job cleaning up also.
