However, in 2018 when I found out about Heaven's Republic Institute of Worship I began taking lessons there and continue to do so along with one of my daughters. The staff is very knowledgable and teaches not only how to play a song, but each instructor teaches music theory as well. I also like the structure in which each student is learning their particular instrument. Keyboards are usually taught separately from guitars and then everyone is brought together learning how to play as a band. From my perspective, KJ has been an inspiration for learning bass guitar because there are so many techniques and styles to playing bass and he pretty much knows all of them, which has given me a lot of tools to use. They learned far more than I expected in such a short time, and the weekly recitals were a highlight, giving parents the chance to hear the kids play and sing. It's easily one of the best summer camps in Bellaire. The experience inspired both of my kids to continue their musical journey. My 7 year old now takes piano lessons with Mr. Sal, while my 9 year old studies with Mr. Roscoe. There are also Family Classes for 0-5 years old. Kapila is an excellent teacher. The class was wonderful & I love giving my baby this exposure to music from an early age. They give you CDs of the music & there's also an app for your phone -- so that you can play the music at home to increase the amount of exposure your children get. During the first class, my baby was just in awe because she hadn't been in any music classes before. She looked at everyone, especially teacher Kapila. She gnawed on the various instruments we were given (afterwards, they get put into a special bin to be cleaned before the next use). The second class, my baby felt more comfortable and started crawling around during the class as well. The third class, the others no-showed so Kapila gave us a private class. I highly recommend Prelude Music Classes.

Babies and children are encouraged to be themselves, whatever age or stage they're at. Any toys or musical instruments that are mouthed or otherwise exposed to saliva can be placed in a special bin to be cleaned before they're reused. During each class series, you get a CD of over 20 songs, an illustrated songbook, and access to those same songs via a downloadable Music Together mobile app. Highly recommend Prelude Music Classes for all babies and young kids.

Don't get me wrong, they were great guys and good musicians, but weak instructors. When the primary instructor was no longer available, I started looking for a new one. I did an internet search and came across Jim's name. I gave him a call and he talked with me for the better part of an hour to determine if he was going to be a good fit. Well, he was... absolutely he was! We've been going to Jim for a couple of months now and my grandson's interest has been renewed. Now he Is motivated, practices more, and really likes Jim. Not to mention, I piggyback off of the lesson and practice the same things he is teaching my grandson. To sum it up what I like about Jim Maguire is he is genuine, and I feel like he really cares about his students. You can tell just by looking at him during one of his lessons. He's always smiling, but his face really lights up when my grandson is hitting the notes and chords they are working on. A very inspiring and motivating instructor.
