I recently retired and moved from a condo in San Francisco to buy a house in Katy, Texas. My #1 priority was to have a swimming pool built as soon as possible. Consequently, I began contacting pool construction companies while still in San Francisco and before I had even selected my new house to try and get a ball-park idea of what would be involved. As a single person living alone I wanted a small pool, very basic, no fancy shapes or finishes, etc. I found a very disappointing response from all but one builder, Eckel Pool Concepts. The others did not want to discuss the issue over the phone and said they would contact me once I had moved. I gave them my contact information but none followed up. Others said they did not build pools like the simple one I wanted (it ended up being 28 x 14) or that they only built pools that cost $65,000 or above. The only person who was prepared to spend meaningful time on the phone with me discussing key elements of my plan and guiding me through the pros and cons was Jeremy. When I moved to Katy I had to wait 3 weeks for my furniture to arrive and stayed in a hotel. I had already closed on my newly constructed house and Andy met with me several times at my empty house. He listened carefully to my needs and wants and designed the pool in real time on his laptop making changes as we chatted, so I was able to see an image of the pool develop as we discussed options. When Jeremy saw the design he augmented it with several changes, such as a bench about 2' below the surface that follows the curve of the deep end. It's delightful to be able to sit on the bench and just relax in the water. As a result, we finalized the contract before I moved in and construction began soon thereafter. Jeremy kept me informed of the stages of the project and visited my house several times. Andy accompanied me as I selected the coping, tiles and brick for the feature wall. The feature wall, with a waterfall, was their idea after I mentioned how relaxing and peaceful I find the sound of rushing water. The waterfall splashes into the pool directly above the bench so I can actually sit under it. It's not only wonderful to experience but significantly enhances the aesthetics of the pool. Ultimately, the project was completed on time and within my maximum cost limit which I had set as an absolute requirement from the start. This included the feature wall, a 250,000 BTU heater so I can so I can still enjoy the pool in the cooler months, extensive decking coated with Spray Deck, and a Pentair Racer cleaner. The Spray Deck is not only much cooler to walk on in the summer but gave me the opportunity to choose a finish color that would complement the coping and the brick feature wall colors. Jeremy also kindly built a paving-stone pathway from the garage around the side of the house to the pool at his own cost. I've had the pool for several months now and all I've had to do is visit the local pool supply store for water analysis and add some chemicals to keep the water balanced. I am at the pool for several hours every day. Looking at it and listening to it while I relax under the umbrella on the deck, and being in it brings me all the joy I had hoped for. I will forever be grateful to Jeremy and Andy for making the process so effortless for me and building me a pool that is beyond my expectations. read more

PLEASE READ!! I promise this will be worth your time. After deciding to install a pool, I contacted a few different pool contractors and was immediately overwhelmed by the entire process. After narrowing prospective contractors down based on reviews, reputation, and customer service we took a look at the numbers. From the very beginning, Jeremy Eckel and Andy Einhorn of Eckel Pool Concepts were responsive and willing to take the time to understand us and our vision of the whole project and how that would integrate into our backyard. They provided several recommendations and designs to help us visualize the final product which assisted with us making a final decision.  During construction, the project went according to plan even with a few days of rain. The crew came back as soon as the whether cleared up and got right back to it. Throughout each phase of the project, these guys had minimal impacts on our normal pattern of life and kept us abreast of each step along the way. Jeremy personally was involved and was never more than a text or phone call away. He took the time to explain every bit of information about each pool option available with honest opinions.  In the end, we ended up with a 15' x 30' x 6' salt water pool. Options included: tanning ledge with umbrella holder, walk-in stairs, deep-side sitting ledge, Color light, heater, Fire pit, and large concrete pad that was very competitively priced and included a generous military discount.  I never write reviews but always use them. Too often pool builders meet with you and tell you what THEY want you to do with your back yard. That is not how Jeremy from Eckel Pool Concepts works. He is an excellent listener and is very knowledgeable about the various elements that go into creating your backyard paradise. He and his crew have an incredible work ethic. The hole for our pool was dug less than 10 days ago. The tile and deck work are done, and the final pool surface will be applied tomorrow. That is not to say they are simply hurrying to get done. His work was superb and his employees and sub contractors were very courteous at all times. The project was completed in July on schedule, which is amazing by itself, considering all the delays we had with rain. Had my pool built by Eckel Pool Concepts and overall I'm glad I chose them. The biggest thing for me was how fast they moved -- crews stayed active and the project didn't drag on like you hear with some builds. Keith and Co. did a wonderful job designing and installing our travertine patio. The work was done in a timely manner and it looks beautiful! They cleaned everything up when they were done and replaced the sod that was damaged due to all the digging to ensure the yard looked perfect when they left!
